  1. actually changing out major components is something windows handles fairly well. the mobo and proc are deffinately compatible, they were bought for each other buy my uncle, who has worked for intel his entire life. i tried a whole bunch of trash with drivers and sepperate windows installs and all that kind of thing, got my comp up and running, but couldnt get my files. so i said "hey windows, fix yourself" and it did! : ) so all those people who smugly tell you microshaft's windows repair doesnt do anything can stuff it, cause it worked beautifully. for anyone who was wondering, my uncle says its most likely because i switched from a regular processor to one with hyperthreading, which the os sees as 2 processors. unlike switching out something like a harddrive, switching from 1 to 2 processors WILL make windows very unhappy.
  2. i dont understand what im supposed to do, whats with the numbers and letters? is each letter an option and were supposed to pick the right one? do we pick one number from each letter? O.o what the dealio?
  3. For christmas this year I got a new motherboard and processor and a new graphics card. Both are PCI express and therefor incompatible with my old ones (people have been suggesting i switch them out one at a time). I took out my old Mobo/proc and gfx card and replaced them with the new ones, found out the new Mobo is designed for SATA drives instead of ATA, mine are ATA. I have 2 ROM drives and 2 harddrives, at least 3 of which i need to have available. so i went out and got a PC I card that gives me 2 extra IDE slots. put it all together and turn it on. it gives me a screen that asks if i want to boot in safe mode, says the screen might be showing up because of hardware changes, so whatever, makes sense... i have tried start normally and start in safe mode and every time it pauses for a second and then restarts. when i choose safe mode it shows me that it is loading a bunch of files, so i dont think the problem is with my harddrive itself. i have tried every combination of every bios setting i think could possibly be related to boot process. im all out of ideas, any help would be appreciated.
  4. net acceleration. there is acceleration from gravity, its just cancelled out by an exactly opposite force, therefor 0 net acceleration.
  5. acceleration is not continuous. there is no acceleration for one instant at the very bottom. it hits 0m/s at the peak(after falling back up), but it hits 0m/s/s at the very middle, when there is an equal gravitational force on all sides. note that there are two situations in question here. the first post about throwing a ball straight up and the second question about falling through the center of the earth. just incase we are talking about different things here. im talking about falling through the middle.
  6. i dont buy it... the discription of whats inside it reads like someone was trying to make it sound cool... "its got lasers, and magnets and a microwave!" not buying.
  7. i must make one! my mother would love me doing this at her house, im sure. please instruct. : D
  8. teach me oh great one.
  9. yeah, six. took me a minute or two. the 32 is deffinately the trick
  10. no. read the url carefully. and once again anytime your done trying, send me a pm.
  11. think 4 is the one with the bedroom isnt it?
  12. if you specifically ask for a spoiler ill send you a pm, but first how bout you tell me what clues you have and ill tell you what your missing.
  13. the other thing to keep in mind is the purpose of adding the milk. if the wife is adding the milk mainly for cooling purposes then depending on how long it takes her to come back, she may add less than you add initially. if you add milk and that sudden change plus the gradual puts it below where it needs to be then you messed up because she would have come back after the gradual and added just the right amount of sudden change to get the right temperature. : )
  14. the clues to pay attention to in that one are the source (the line you're looking for can be hard to find with IE, mozilla puts it in a diff color), the url, and the message that flashes, which says "TURN ME ON dead man" incase your having trouble reading it. the "dead man" is unimportant. i can help with hints(or spoilers in PMs) up through about level 57.
  15. "www.scienceforums.net"
  16. 3n2-4n=15 3n2-4n-15=0 n=(4(+/-)sqrt(16-4(3)(-15)))/6 n=(4(+/-)sqrt(16+180))/6 n=(4(+/-)14)/6 n=(2+7)/3 n=3 or n=(2-7)/3 n=-5/3
  17. if terminal velocity is 200 mph... lets say you can jump 3 feet in the air, a bit of a stretch for most people. P=vt -16t^2 p=3 feet halfway through the jump time to fall 3 feet: 3=16t^2 sqrt(3)/4=t 3=v(sqrt(3)/4)-16(3/16) 3=v(sqrt(3)/4)-3 6=v(sqrt(3)/4) v=1.5sqrt(3) ft/sec v=2.598 ft/sec= 1.771 mph so instead of hitting at 200mph you will hit at 198.229mph. hows my physics? its been a few years...
  18. wow... thats really really stupid. not you, the fact that a pound ever means anything different. is it really that hard to standardize things?
  19. think of it this way, how ever high you can jump is how much force you can cancel, so its just like you fell from that much less height. not much difference...
  20. well... i kinda have a hard time believing you. a "pound" is a measurement of weight, so when you tell me "this weighs a pound, and this weighs a pound," and then you ask which one weighs more... neither, they both weigh a pound.
  21. care to throw some commas into that first one? and a POUND of feathers weighs the same as a POUND of gold.
