  4. Thanks. I'll give it a rest and then try again.
  5. Following difficulties in getting youtube videos to auto load (popular in The Lounge) I suggest a detailed guide would be useful. Such a guide would cover computer specifications and requirements such as necessary software, cookie enablement etc. It would cover any limitations set by the forum administrators such minimum time or minimum number of posts for a member. It would list in sequence the actions to be taken on a music website such as youtube to obtain its URL. It would then list in sequence the steps to be taken when posting on the forum. If the procedure can be upset by using any of the provided facilities such as "edit" or "Fast reply" then a warning should be given. The administrators may think of other details that could be added as useful.
  6. I'm using Chrome. I used to be a lecturer - I'm quite used to amusing the youngsters - even sometimes making a fool of myself! I have tried internet explorer. http://www.virginmed...d-1498174118001
  7. trying to hijack by replacing your URL That didn't work. It looks like a URL. It plays like a URL if opened in a new window. But it isn't recognised where yours was! tried again with "mine"

  12. The only thing in common with all my attempts is that I google "youtube performer (e. Kinks)", select a video, right click to copy video URL, return to the forum and from there I have tried every which way without much success. Unfortunately I'm on someone elses computer and have to give it back. Will return when I can - thanks again. Thanks, Phi for All is contacting Administrators. He thinks there may be some sort of a bug. But why only me and on two separate computers. Rhetorical question - don't answer - thanks for trying.
  13. Thank you for your help, not at all sure what's happening! I did wonder if there was some sort of time or number of posts limit before this feature was enabled? Not been a member long.
  14. http://www.youtube.c...e&v=n9KaI5T0zRw http://www.youtube.c...e&v=n9KaI5T0zRw Tried this on two different computers.

  16. Yes, something just doesn't click. I am beginning to wonder about things like firewall and software clashes! Do me a favour Xittenn. If you would be so kind tell me in detail every single step you make from listening to a video to actually getting it to work on the forum. This is your chance to make an old man very happy.
  17. Still having problems with videos!
  18. You could end up as mad as a hatter! see link please! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mad_as_a_hatter
  19. What you appear to be saying is that if you dropped a heavy ball onto a spring it would bounce back into the air. You seem to agree that it would bounce to a lesser height and eventually come to rest on the spring after so many bounces. What you seem to be proposing is that the oscillatory motion could give you some useful energy that otherwise would be wasted. You seem to agree that the energy you get would be less than that required to lift the ball. If so, I don't see anything new.
  20. After all that I needed some soothing music - My wife, when a girl, sang in a pub with Acker Bilk in a village near both their homes - The Ring 'o Bells in Hinton Blewitt. Xittenn, Perhaps you don't mind some soothing music sometimes?
  21. Merci - or perhaps mercy!!! Just wondering - are you French-Canadian?
  22. http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=7jzx664u5DA Oh no, oh no, oh no! http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_detailpage&v=AUXmj3Fl7x0
  23. I'm going to give it a rest before I start pulling my hair out. Lucky to have hair to pull out at my age - lol! I bet I'm doing something simple incorrectly. This is all I'm doing:- Get my video so it plays in another window. Copy the URL. Come back to Scienceforums. Press "Reply", or "Fast reply" Paste the URL (which comes out full length) Press "Add reply". Go to "View new content" and select my post. When I see my post I have the shorter URL and no automatic load. Can you spot my mistake?? It seems that Scienceforums itself is shortening my URL! If I press"Edit" and fill in the missing parts of the URL that doesn't help.
  24. Sorry - still having trouble getting videos to play! Will try something else! . ► 2:51 www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q7jZeXvpyZQ
