Common y-chromosome ancestor, 60K yr ago

Thats a pretty anthropocentric veiw scooter, we can distinguish each other well because it is necessary as a social animal, there isnt a need for us to distinguish between wild animals as such though. Its kind of like the old racist remark "they all look alike to me"..... maybe if you spent time studying them the differences would begin to become apparent. -

Well, since most caffeine comes in a liquid form the diuretic effect is canceld out by the liquid intake.

I put too much weight on my decisions...

Its good, now you know you have a problem you can do something about it....... don't spend too long deciding how to do it though...... errrr catch 22? -

Yes and the aborigines were supposed to be in aussie already by ~60kya. I think perhaps the sample size of the DNA they used wasn't large enough, this combined with the ethnicity not being sufficiently mixed and an incorrect assumption of the rate of mutation would all cause the estimate to be wrong. -
Not really, a few million years is a long time for a chemical reaction to occur.

Hmm forget it then, what I was trying to say is: Emotion isnt a good reason to disagree with something.

Ooops, lysis will only occur in a cell not bounded by a cell wall under hypotonic conditions. This is because the cell will burst as water rushes into the cell via osmosis in order to reach equilbrium. In a hypertonic solution the cell will become shriveled. A cell which is bounded by a cell wall will become plasmolysed in a hypertonic solution, this is where the cell membrane seperates from the cell wall. It will be flaccid in an isotonic solution, this means soft or limp, and turgid in a hypotonic solution.

I guess you could keep your mind open and express and opinion, but you do need to remember the difference between what you think and what you know.

Oh miss read that....

Mind you, this would rely upon the first two people being retarded... they see 3 red hats and a white hat and guess red.....

Bob suspects his wife is having an affair with the milkman. He is talking to his mates at work about it and they suggest he buys a surveillance camera to find out the truth before he confronts her about it. So Bob decides to go shopping after work, he doesn't earn much and finds he only has $15 to spend. He goes to the local security shop and enquires about their cameras. Bob, "How much is this one?" Salesman, "Thats $80." Bob, "Hmmmmm, oh, got anything cheaper" Salesman, "Well, theres this one, its $30" Bob, "Na forget it, bye." So Bob leaves, feeling rather sad. The next day at work he's telling his mates about how he doesn't have enough money for a camera, when one of his friends suggests he gets a parrot. Bob is rather surprised, his friend tells him that his parrots always telling him stuff about what happened during the day. So Bob thinks this is a rather good idea, and decides to get a surveillance parrot. So after work Bob heads off down to the pet store. He sees some rather nice parrots in the window. He steps inside and speaks to the salesman. Bob, "How much for this one." Salesman, "Thats $60." Bob, "Oh, got anything cheaper?" Salesman, "yeah check over there in the bargin bin." So Bob wanders over to the bargin bin, it has a label which says $10, he thinks, "perfect". He looks in and sees a collection of bedraggled animals, 3 legged cats, dogs with 2 tails, mangy looking ferrets.... right in the corner sitting rather awkwardly on a perch is a parrot with no legs. Bob is amazed, "a parrot with no legs sitting on a perch!!!", he shouts, hearing this the pet store owner come over and says, "yes thats a rather rare one, he uses his penis to balance", Bob says "I'll take it". So Bob takes his parrot with no legs home and introduces it to his wife, when they are alone he has a chat with his parrot, he says, "now I want you to watch her very carefully, tell me everything she does when the milk man comes, I want to know every detail you hear." The no-legged parrot replies in its parrot voice, "OK". So Bob sets the no-legged parrot up with a good veiw of the front door and heads off to work. He comes home and asks the parrot, " so what happened?", the no-legged parrot says, "He gave her 2 bottles of milk and a kiss on the lips, then left", Bob starts to get angry, but not sure anything too serious is going on he decides to wait. He comes home the next day and asks the parrot, " so what happened?", the no-legged parrot says, "He gave her 2 bottles of milk, a kiss on the lips, and felt her tits, then left", Bobs face starts to boil with anger, but still not sure anything to much is going on yet he decides to wait. He comes home the next day and asks the parrot, " so what happened?", the no-legged parrot says, "He gave her 2 bottles of milk, a kiss on the lips, and felt her tits, and lifted her dress", the parrot pauses, Bobs waits then getting real mad he screams, "AND THEN WHAT HAPPENED???", the parrot replies, " I don't know, I cracked a stiff and fell off my perch."

Well, knowing life it'd be the most efficient one, so depending on its environment, if it had alot of internal salts it needed to get rid of, but there were also alot of external salts then it would probably pump more water in....... Yeah I think life would use both, since it has been shown to have both, but use the one which is the most energy efficient, within reason so as the cell doesn't burst. Mind you I just woke up.... feel free to point out the thermodynamic problems.

Hmm good question... not sure what the answer is, but heres a guess. Water and sucrose solution are not the same, pressure is related to density only when the substance in question is constant. For instance if you compressed some water, thus increasing its density its pressure would increase also, but the comparison between the two solutions makes no sense.

I think the composition was fine. However you might want to look at the second line. How to is a bit colloquial, it is used in speech, but the correct grammar is: How do I/How can I Edited for bad use of english LOL.

Dunno if I should just give you all the answers.... don't you have a text book? Hmmmmmm Cell theory: Not sure but I think it would be - -The cell is the lowest level of structure capable of performing all the activities of life. -All cells come from other cells -The ability of cells to divide to form new cells is the basis for all reproduction and for the growth and repair of multicellular organisms. You can answer the why yourself, its a good question. What is the difference between a PROKARYOTE and a EUKARYOTE? Eukaryotes have membrane bound organelles such as mitochondria and chloroplasts (in plants), they also have a membrane bound neucleus which contains the cells DNA. Prokaryotes do not have these. There are more differences if you want to find them out yourself. What are the similarities between PROKARYOTE and EUKARYOTE cells? They both have cell membranes, both use DNA to code gentic information, both transcribe DNA to mRNA which is then translated into proteins via ribosomes and tRNA. Well the similarities go on and on.... basically anything thats not a difference is a similarity. What is the function of the CELL WALL? The cell wall is structural support which allows the cell to maintain turgor pressure and prevents lysis under extreme hypo or hypertonic conditions. Why is cell wall found mostly in plants? Because plants need it to regulate turgor pressure and maintain structural support to hold the leaves in place for efficient photosynthesis. They also require cell walls to build structures such as xylem (water carrying vessels) and bark (protection). What is the job of the nucleus? The nucleus contains the cells DNA, its "job" is to maintain the DNA in a functioning state eg repair mutations, transcribe mRNA and export it to the cytoplasm and copy DNA for when mitosis (cell division) takes place.

Yeah there is, it helps the doctor stay in business.

....the sarcasm is lost on you.....

I guess. But I think humans fear new things, so they would just kill off any new intelligent species. I think it would threaten our egos, especially if they had bigger penises. I can just see the religious people now calling it "work of the devil"

using another virus to attack AIDS
Sorcerer replied to Ice_Phoenix87's topic in Microbiology and Immunology
Ok, I can think of several options. Use an retrovirus which inserts new DNA coding for resistant CD4 receptors. Use a retrovirus which produces antisense mRNA for a crucial gene in HIV, say HIV protease. If a protein product could be found which inhibits HIV protease then this could be used and would be as effective as existing HIV protease inhibitors, however a need to take the drugs would be removed. I'm not sure if its possible, but if the HIV DNA could be marked so that it is targeted by exonucleases, then it would be able to have it cut out of the DNA directly. -
Try pissing on it, see if that helps. ............ you need to realise its a joke, not an obsession.
