Surprisingly, I have sucrose, I could make or buy potassium chlorate, but getting concentrated H2SO4 isn't an easy task, no matter what YT might say.

When U.S. completes their attack satellite array, the trick is to say very, very loudly (as you're under snow after all) "HEY, WHAT IF I'D COMMIT SOME TERRORISM TODAY!". The rescue team will have no trouble seeing where the ton weighing tungsten rod lands.

Wow, I'd been wondering for some time what on Earth that thing in Ophiolite's avatar is. Good to know. And my avatar is of course, a picture of a nuclear blast (Trinity?). Can't beat the view of atoms splitting, or actually the aftermath of the splitting.

Don't know if that would be much of a mistake if you are suffering from constipation though. Btw, I burned some KNO3 with sucrose today, and it produced quite a bit of smoke. Burned through aluminum foil with ease too. Now I only need to find myself a hotplate or something to make a proper smokebomb mixture.

I've always thought that diborane is at least an awesome looking molecule (didn't recall it being a gas in RT though, but now I checked and indeed it is), good to see that it can be used for something fun and extremely dangerous. If you're crazy enough, you might want to clean vials or glass flasks with it. But with a rather dilute solution, and preferably not at all if you're supposed to clean containers that had organic compounds in them.

Did your non-argon-non-oil lanthanides come in small plastic bags within the vials that you can remove yourself? Mine did, which is good. You'd really have to kick the package Ace Venture Pet Detective style for the bag-vials to break.

Note to self (and owners of magnesium bars): Burning solid and thick Mg is hard. Really hard. Tried to burn the other bar today with a butane lighter (probably somewhere near 1000 Celsius), the poor lighter didn't stand a chance. But soon I'll buy a 1600 Celsius pocket torch, and then we'll see who has the best laugh! <Insert psychotic laughter here>

Yeah, I was reading through my math book one day voluntarily, which is quite a surprise, and noticed an assignment that told you to draw a four (or was it five?) dimensional hypercube. So errr... What do they look like? And what about if it has five dimensions? And how do you add a dimension to a shape? The book had some minor explanations but I didn't quite get them.

Yeah, that pretty much answered it. Btw, I recall it being quite many air (N, O etc.) molecules one single 2MeV alpha particle hits on its way - about 60 000 or so? That makes you think how badly you actually want to eat those delicious alpha decayers you have lying about. -
Yeah, stickiness is great in all its glorious forms (and sorry for my absence, bloody high school... but now I got a week of skiing/winter holiday, or in other words computer holiday, yay!). Actually, pitchblende (or uranium dioxide) is VERY rich in uranium (duh) and is usually found in rather large deposits. That's what Marie Curie refined his radium from (I recall it taking several tons to make 1g ). I wonder though, how much pitchblende it takes to make a small ounce bar of the stuff (uranium that is, I don't want to even look at an ounce of radium).

*Sigh* Even if I had it in a very -OH ended glass tube or similar, I would most likely notice the attack starting and dispose of it. It doesn't eat through the glass in one day you know. :I Btw, the RGB fluorine sample looks REALLY unsafe. It even states that there might be signs of attacks visible inside (which is very likely).

I could have a ton of pitchblende on my backyard for "research or educational purpose" and no-one would care. And for the uranium slugs, you wouldn't believe what amount of U armor piercing ammunition was left in the ground after battles in the Slovenia-Croatia-Bosnia Herzegovina region. You can even see it in the cancer statistics quite well, sadly. And for the "fissile"... Never heard of it, never needed it, but it's quite nice for a word, so I'm going to use it. "Anybody else want to link this thread to that stupid boy scout?" Oh oh! I would! Although I did already. Bugger. And he's not stupid, he just endangered more people's lives than everyone on this forum put together (except maybe for YT, tehehee ).

"I think that would be much cooler than just having one large slug of it." Nothing's more refreshing than a swim in a bath tub full of small osmium pellets. And if you mention another case where you got precious metals for under 1/5 of their reasonable price, I'm going to scream. And for the fluorine, the risk factor is of course one of the good things in element collecting. And as stated, fluorine just might be the most dangerous of the stable elements, but bears or tigers in a zoo are dangerous too - the trick is not to put your hand or genitals in the cage.

36 stable elements collected... err, lots to go. Not too many expensive ones left though, mostly stuff like copper and cobalt, with the exceptions of osmium, rubidium and a few others. Fluorine's not going to be fun either.
