...Hmmh. Well, imagine a black hole that's getting quite right all its energy from cosmic background radiation. The more its mass, the colder it is (one solar mass blackhole is about at 60 nanokelvin). Now then, if a blackhole is at a temperature greater than its background (in the case of space about 2.7 Kelvin), it loses more energy than it sucks in. And due to the loss of energy (as I explained earlier), its mass decreases, causing it to become hotter, thereby absorbing even less energy. So the black hole shrinks, and shrinks, and its temperature just keeps rising. And then... BOOM! A huge burst of Hawking radiation. IIRC, it's thought that the final burst happens about at the stage where the event horizon is somewhat smaller than an atom's nucleus, the mass is over 100 million tons and the temperature is approximately 100 000 trillion K. Sounds like the ultimate wet dream of George W. Bush, I hope he's not the president when this happens. Speaking of orbital weapons, I've been waiting quite a while for the first orbital rail gun, even a small one, as it's quite fascinating, and rather easy to build and maintain (at least compared to an entire space fortress with lasers and such ).

Have perxenates even been manufactured in larger quantities? I read somewhere that barium salts can form interesting intersitial compounds with perxenic acid (or the ion, can't remember) with the xenon-atom trapped inside an insoluble barium salt crystal.

Yeah, even with similar dispersion, I'd imagine 1ug of botulin A would do more harm than 1ug ricin. I don't think that it would be anywhere near 100 million times more lethal in this scenario though, but more anyway.

If the mass of the black hole is under certain point, it will lose more energy than it gains (by sucking in the cosmic background radiation). And when it loses more energy than it gains, its mass drops, and when that happens, it will result into losing energy even faster, eventually probably resulting in a final burst of energy. Of course, the black holes of the mass category of a large star, gain (currently) more energy from the CBR than they lose.

I'd imagine things are generally more stable when solid. I'm not sure if this goes with every molecule though. In your solution, there might be slow, yet continuous production of ClO2, which then decomposes. Or then it's something completely else. :I

Got to admit, I like bass, but in moderation. Btw alt, what headphones do you use (you do make some interesting music after all )? Mine are Sennheiser HD 570, very good for listening to classical (or playing CS, which is quite right all I use them for :> ).

And I think I've met one Mikaela in my life. So there. And I personally know know Mikas, and I know quite a bunch of Finnish people. "nonono, barium nitrate." UH-OH. Are you aware that barium nitrate is a) very reactive b) very poisonous (lethal dose ranges from 1 to 15 grams!) c) a very good oxidizer? Go with a sulphate or another relatively safe salt, the nitrate is a HUGE safety risk if mixed with your propellant!
