Hmmh... What sort of camera you used to take those pics, by the way?

Oh come on people. If you were locked up in a shed for weeks, and made to choose between spring water and pure H2O, you'd probably die only a couple of hours sooner with the pure H2O, because of the necessary ion shortage/etc. Same thing goes with heavy water. You could drink a small glass of heavy water a day added to your normal diet, but only if you just keep drinking heavy water it will do some nasty stuff when there's more D2O than H2O in your body. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Heavy_water) Also, I'd like to add that whenever it comes to biophysics, a Brittish person isn't a good test subject.

"i should add that chromium and its salts are carcinogens" Wasn't that the case in Erin Brockovich?
-
"i did. nothing happened. at all. what the bloody hell man" Wow, sounds like you shouldn't go near it in a while.

"God, ABM is a load of tosh." Amen to that! When you see "based on a true story" at the beginning of this type of a movie, you should usually stand up and throw the film out of your window, the higher you live the better. :> "Dead men don't wear plaid.....or play chess. So it should be a walkover." Huh? Since when was John F. Nash dead?

Is Creating and Deleting Computer Files compatible with Theories of Physics

"That's Dr. FTL Swansont to you!" You know, I'd imagine the t in the end of his nick comes from his first name, which is Tom, added to his last name which is Swanson. One might notice that this has been and still is quite a popular way of forming nicknames or shortened names. And at least his homepage and comics say Tom Swanson, so I think he knows a bit better. ) -
Hmm... I wonder how much it costs, I didn't exactly check the price. I think it was a 2 liter container though. Well, this was the first time YT told me that something is easy to get and it actually is.

"3 minutes later! "Why?" -- swansont" Tom Swanson - The fastest atomic physicist in the west. ) -
This is too ****ing great. My illness isn't necessarily all due to sleep deprivation. I've realized I have quite the exact symptoms of coeliac disease. No more gluten for me in a while, to see if I actually have it. (

"u ovbisouly know that the spin in this case isnt what we usually call spin." If you mean "spin" in the aspect of just rotating, then yeah I know that the oh-so-famous quantum spin isn't exactly that kind of spinning. Edit: Oh ok, 5614 covered it already. -
New Sub-Catageroies Poll
Gilded replied to TimeTraveler's topic in Suggestions, Comments and Support
"as it gets a lot of traffic." Well, if we compare it to all the physics sub-categories put together it gets way less traffic. :I And now that I think of it, I can't think of how to divide the chemistry-category properly. And if we'd have "Pyrotechnics" and "Chemistry", the Chemistry wouldn't get any traffic at all. j/k -

It's always with the damn spin in quantum-thingies, isn't it. -

"thats quantum computers gilded." I know that, but I just can't remember what value of the atom is going to be used as 1 and what's going to be used as a 0. :I Or if they're even going to make quark-computers and use up and down quarks as 0's and 1's. -

"lol." That was the best post I've seen all day! Although I've seen only a few posts today now that it's few minutes past midnight (GMT +2) as I'm writing this. :S And about the data thing, bloodhound covered that pretty nicely. But bet you want an analogy? Oh yes, oh yes you do! Think of a bit as a room. If the lights aren't on, the room is a 0. If they are on, the room is a 1. So the computer checks the "rooms" to see if they're count as a 0 or a 1. No physics laws violated there, mate. Talking about bits, I find the atom-level data storing technology (or theory quite interesting): A neutral atom is a 0, a +1 atom is a 1. How cool is that. (Sorry if +1 and neutral charge isn't going to be used in such technology, couldn't exactly remember what's going to get count as what ) -
"hmmm, barium sulfate....any ideas on proportions?" I'm not quite sure, but I'd go with a 0,5%-1% of overall fuel weight first to see what happens. )
-
With diamonds usually being so small, I don't think you'll be doing any weight calculations too easily. Bet you could try burning it, and if it transforms into carbon dioxide, you just had yourself a diamond that's now gone. Also, hardness tests are a good method. You could try and scratch it with corundum, or scratch corundum with it, as diamond is 10 on Mohs scale and corundum is 9.

"chlorates are never good for such mixtures. use perchlorates instead" Yeah, if you have to choose between the two. Metal chlorates are of course very unstable, but perchlorates aren't too stable either.

"i dont think u will be able to see the files unless you set the permissions rite. most likely you will get a 403 forbidden error." Yeah, but in some cases there are no restrictions, just the redirection. That's why I'm wondering how to do it. "are you saying for example there's a site: mysite.com and on that site there's loads of files, you want to see the files without going to mysite.com ?" Yeah sort of, for example there's mysite.com/site/, that has index.html in it, and a bunch of images in the same folder.

Talking about defrost, we got about +3 Celsius here and no snow at all anymore, quite an unusual December weather in Finland. ( Just when you thought you could launch the megaüber rockets of DOOOOOM from big snow piles, you have to launch them from your hand (launching racks are for n00bs, as we all know ).

"Getting hl2 here" Heh, I played mine through in three days. Easier than the first Half-Life, but way more fun. :> Now I'm waiting for Call of Cthulhu, which I won't get for Christmas as it's supposed to be out in the 1Q of 2005. Iä! Iä! Shub-Niggurath!

This is quite a basic question, yet I haven't figured it out. When there's a folder uploaded, and you enter the url for just the folder (like www.<<inserturlhere>>.com/something/), it goes to the index-file if there is one, otherwise it opens the folder. So, how can you see the files in a folder without getting redirected to the index-file?

"use barium sulfate; it won't react with anything there but will give yoru green colour" Seconded. Just don't use anything like barium chlorate that will indeed give you a nice green flame, but will probably cause premature detonation of your propellant mix.

Lol. I must say that I'd be surprised if it didn't oxidize right away with Mn2O7. That's some wacky stuff. "I wonder what if I mix dichromate and salicylic acid. Can dichromate oxidize salicylic acid?" I can't see why, as it is quite a powerful oxidizer. But on the other hand, if you could oxidize 1-naphthol yet you had a negative result with salicylic acid... Hmm, odd. :I

" People form opinions of you based on reading what you write. If u abrevi8 evry othr wrd pepl wl thnk u r slop-p." You're exactly right about that. Excess use of "????!?!?!?!!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!"'s or "ROFLMAO!!111"'s doesn't look good either. Remember appropriate punctuation too. (*hint hint* boris, no offense though )

Ahahaha! Absolute pearls! "The Chinese news agency Xinhua stated that, 'in China the radiation effect is always positive, leading to bigger and better vegetables that will revolutionise agriculture.'" Rofl. The condom thing was hilarious too.
