  1. "is no one gonna be on SFN ????" Me me me! As long as I have even some of my fingers, that is.
  2. "if it feels slippery you have your hydroxide" I hope you're not encouraging people to grab KOH with their bare hands though.
  3. Hmmmh... Interesting topic, indeed. Was there space-curving in the graviton exchange theory, or was it a totally different thing?
  4. "Teleportation is practically impossible except on the molecular level. NASA claimes to have done it." I recall someone claiming to have teleported a teacup-sized object (probably a teacup). Most likely just rumors, since they still haven't teleported my fresh cup of tea from Sri Lanka. >:/ Edit: And now that we've even gotten swansont all scared and confused, we should probably decide what sort of teleportation we're actually talking about.
  5. "Stargate inspired a love of injecting molten gold into my forehead. " Yeah, go Teal'c.
  6. "^His fireworks making supplies haven't come yet, so he'll have to buy fireworks to light on new years." Well sort of, only that it's much harder to get hurt with commercial fireworks than homemade ones. Damn buggers, closed the store for this year back in the 13th of December. >:/

"really? where?" I recall you being very interested in such things at sciencemadness.org, but perhaps I'm mistaken.
  8. "to dismember oneself with fireworks )" Well, if you keep a 200g pyromass rocket in your hand when it explodes, I'd say dismembering is most likely what you get.
  9. Hmmh. I think the company where I was supposed to buy aluminum powder, KNO3 and other stuff for Christmas is on holiday. :/ Guess I'll have to dismember myself with regualar fireworks when the year changes.
  10. "Why don't you try simply try it and figure it out yourself from your own observations?" That's one idea I don't recommend to anybody. :/ It seems I've been doing that, and so far I've had fever, switching between constipation and diarrhea, headache, stomach ache, temporal loss of sight (more often than normally) and loss of coordination. Also, I'm currently having an awful stomach disease and went to blood testing and urine testing on Monday, just to find out blood and urine values were normal, and this is all probably due to sleep deprivation.
  11. Ahaha, loved that Sayo-joke. Heard it before, but it's great anyway. Ahh, I think it's time for Christmas-jokes! When Phi for All was little, one of his older friends came to ask him what he wanted for Christmas. - I want a tampon! Phi said happily. - Why on Earth would YOU want a tampon?! his friend said. - Because I saw a commercial on TV that said "With this tampon you can ski, swim, run or dance without a problem!" Phi answered.
  12. Hope this doesn't affect your music making alt. :/
  13. How expensive it is to make a prototype then?
  14. "'Defying' gravity is a very nebulous term. I do it every time I stand up, but there's nothing mysterious about that." Agreed. Gravity is a weak force that can be overcome quite easily (hey, even swansont and I can do it! Though I seem to have hard time doing it in the mornings...), yet I wouldn't call it "defying".
  15. "A non Newtonian motion Drive, and/or an Inertial Damper, the use is for in Space (Zero G) and idealy for Service robots/Tool carriers on EVAs, both perfectly operationaly with or without an atmosphere." Wow, sounds cool! I think I can hear a big check from NASA/similar coming...
  16. "In your face, people without christmas avatars." Sooo... Should I put some snow flakes next to the nuclear blast or something? Edit: Mwahahahah, I actually did.
  17. Talking of changes, the SFN Christmas-logo is awesome. A christmas tree with epilepsy-licious strobo lights and a couple of cookies and we're all set! And talking of Christmas, perhaps we should have a holiday calendar next year, with some neat science stuff in every box. "Today YT is going to tell you how you can make it through the Christmas season of chemical experiments without blowing off ANY of your fingers!" j/k

"yeah, i'm more into exotics like ferrates and ferrites. working on that now" However, you seem to be quite into explosives on certain other forums, no offense.
  19. "You can get hydrogen from water with lithium, it's neat to watch a metal just disappear into a cup of water amid a bunch of hydrogen bubbles." Strong HCl solution + zinc is fun too. And cheaper.
  20. "as for Hydrogen, Why??? what`s the big worry? I`de sooner make H2 tube than an O2 one! anyday of the week :)" Well yeah, probably, but I've been told not to trust in elements that only have one proton. No really, probably if I'd have to choose between O and H, I'd probably take the H. Unless it's a choice of what to breathe.
  21. "The link referred does not work, received this : " Invalid Thread specified. If you followed a valid link, please notify the webmaster " ¿Can you please confirm it was properly copied?" If that was the about-exact copy of this thread you posted in the physics section, then Sayonara probably used his awesome m0dpowerZ to delete it.
  22. Yay! Exams, exams! Hope I get another F... FROM THE BLOODY MATH!
  23. "I just pref to keep mine as a soln, I have rare to never needed it in Solid form :)" What do you need it for anyway? I think I remember you using a KOH solution in your LED-battery-challenge thing, so that's probably one use.
  24. "(I think oxygen and hydrogen may be a bit more dangerous due to their reactivity)." Yeah, I must admit that I wouldn't like a hydrogen discharge tube lit anywhere near something flammable. "as for Glass bending, it IS an aquired skill :)" I found glass bending to be quite easy. Depends quite a bit on the glass though, but I found it rather easy to bend glass tubes into different forms with a Bunsen burner (I've done it twice).
  25. "filter off the liquid and store it." A KOH solution yes, but can KOH exist in a solid form and if it can, how safe it actually is as a solid? And could you just boil the water off to make KOH crystals?
