  1. "They teach maths very slowly in here. For example, this year, we were thought Pythagoras' Theorem." Hmmh. Finland seems to have the same problem too. We don't have a problem with the advanced mathematics in high school though, it's even starting to seem that I should drop down to the less advanced math (but the cursed chemistry and physics calculation buggers need the adv. maths :< ).
  2. Yeah, it's quite important to have the right structure too when discussing individual molecules.
  3. "It's just that a GC machine isn't exactly what you'd call "portable". heh." You can say that again. MS machines aren't really that portable either. Although someday they might be (which would be quite helpful actually ).
  4. Judging from the average heights here, you US fellows should really start eating your vegetables. And remember, a BigMac might seem like one but it isn't a vegetable.
  5. Say what now?
  6. Modern haiku? Bah! No! Thou shalt not fix something that is not broken.
  7. Mokele, the Galaxy Song owns indeed. There's nothing, I mean nothing, not the universe nor the meaning of life that Monty Python songs can't solve.
  8. "Bismuth trioxide (Bi2O3) is that stuff that’s floats to the top and wont melt whenever you melt bismuth." I thought that it's Bi2O3, but ChemFinder told me that it's Bi4O6. Ahh well...
  9. Hmmh... I wonder if just burning bismuth in a pure oxygen atmosphere would yield bismuth trioxide. Or then no, since it seems quite complex (Bi4O6). Looks kinda like hexamine.
  10. Organic peroxides are Unstable with a big U. A good (or bad) example is the infamous TCAP.
  11. "Try to get 200 bucks and then build a tesla coil." I thought the one YT made cost like £5.
  12. "isnt that mildly cruel?" Hey, I think I see the angry activists already!
  13. I thought they use a more stable and safe mix these days than the red lead - alu composition in dragon eggs?
  14. "Where can I get one?" http://www.flyingthingz.com - costs $89.99, if you meant the lawnmower.
  15. "Ammonium Nitrate`s not all that good an oxidiser for pyro" I agree. It's good for "other stuff" though.
  16. As stated many more times before, there is an actual thread for the DISCUSSION of element collecting. Perhaps YT should lock this one. "-unless you are really wealthy and dont care about your money, scrap the lanthanides" Hmmh. Got myself a lanthanide collection for 119 dollars. Didn't have promethium, but had scandium and yttrium instead. Even though they are "rare earths", only a few of them are actually rare.
  17. "Best example of what happens when a member donates extra to a forum administrator for special favors." I sent a two year old cookie to Sayonara and he still hasn't given me flashing strobo lights next to my avatar. >:/
  18. O, brave Sir bloodhound! One might say, that your haiku is quite not "t3|-| |_33t".
  19. Well OK, it's dust. Have you tried making flash powder or a thermite mix with it?
  20. "i call it dust tho, not powder" I call my powdered metals Jiminy Billy-Bob. ... Not that I'd actually have any powdered metals.
  21. Primitive Bushmen aren't great either, I think. They steal your oilwells.
  22. "doesnt the difference between mt everest and under sea level effect that figure?" Yes it does, but not very significantly.
  23. Haha, that one I remember, a real pearl.
  24. I ate 'shrooms again. Now I think Bush is very smart. No more 'shrooms for me.
  25. "hydroxide ions immediately bond with the sodium ions which then becomes NaOH sodium hydroxide." Ahh yes, of course. Forgot about that one.
