  1. "if i am ever in danger i can light these and disapear" That's ninjalicious. "What is the smoke actually made of?" You mean the smoke coming from a KNO3/sugar smoke bomb? Small carbon particles at least, carbon monoxide probably too, along with carbon dioxide. I'd imagine some water vapor being released too as the sugar decomposes.
  2. Btw, found a fun fact: The KNO3/sugar smoke bomb generates smoke about 600 times its own volume. So I hope the 45g lot doesn't go off in your house boris.

You could always use it as a fertilizer, as it was intended to. Or, you could use it and sulfuric acid to make nitric acid.
  4. "where did you find the commercial smoke bombs from i was going to ask what they used in them next" I am The Somewhat Resourceful One.

Perhaps we should start discussing KNO3 again instead of awful compounds that kill you if you even fart or sing "YMCA" in the near proximity of a 10g batch?

  7. OK, it appears that some of the commercial smoke bombs are made of approx. 20% potassium chlorate, 20% lactose and 60% unsoluble strong dye, for example paranitraniline, surrounded by a clay shell. I'm not quite sure if adding paranitraniline to KNO3-sugar mixture will impart a color on the smoke though.
  8. "what chemicals can you add to give the smoke bomb coloured smoke" That's indeed a frequently asked and tricky question... I think someone said something about "artificial indigo"... I'm trying to look something up.
  9. "i dont think it is this one you light like a normal fuse and it gives a reaction like thermite sparks fly of ect" Hmm... Perhaps aluminum wire coated with iron oxide?
  10. Hmm... Only ni-chrome comes to mind, but I'm not sure if it can act as a regular fuse (good for electrical ignition though).
  11. "why not make your own, it`s easy enough! :)" Getting KNO3 during Winter time in Finland? Not going to happen.
  12. There should be a "Warning! Can cause addiction" sign. :PP

"or a Pretzell :)" Haha, the Great Pretzel Incident was indeed precious. Anyway, I'm quite sure Bush leaves in a way that will get him the Darwin award. )
  14. Btw, why hydrogen forms on the cathode and oxygen on the anode (or the other way around, lol)? Something to do with electronegativity? My knowledge about electricity is VERY limited. :/

Giving terrorists materials for TCAP is like giving George W. Bush a razor without a user's manual.

"the upside is that those that make/use it mostly end up in hospital or graves when synthing or throwing it )" That's what I thought too. If all terrorists used TCAP the problem would solve itself.
  17. Yay, I found one! http://www.privatehand.com/flash/elements.html It's a Flash-remake, I don't know if it's remake of the one you're talking about. Funny anyway.

It's sad how TCAP is so dangerous, yet quite easily synthesized, making it one level too good weapon for terrorists.
  19. About the smoke bombs, how hard the KNO3-sugar mix is (if it was done with the "melt the sugar" way)? If it can be cut with scissors or a knife you could cut a small slice and send it in an envelope to me for "inspection".

"it`s generaly safer to buy the pure chems than make them yourself, but it`s also a good learning tool (depending upon what you`re trying to make of course!)" Yeah, I can't see how someone wants to make high-explosives such as TCAP at home.
  21. Haha. I loved the Deprotonated-song. "I still want to get the "Element song" though, any idea where?" Element song? THERE'S AN ELEMENT SONG?! GIMME!
  22. "i would also like to say it has scorched the floor i put it on so i am going to have a hard time explaining that to my parents when they get back of holiday" Wow, it's like Home Alone or something all over again. Run while you still can!

Whoah, nitrogen trichloride. That's even more unstable than the tri-iodide I presume?
  24. I hate aluminum cans, since they're made of an alloy that seems to have a clearly over 900 C melting point. >:/
  25. "if i ever wanted it its there" Like in the case of a major civil war or a national smoke bomb competition?
