Hmmh. It's starting to get rather snowy around here, even though the first flakes came down just a few days ago. A few local snow records have been broken too (the best Finnish record is from Kilpisjärvi, 1997: 190cm of snow). I personally like snow, as long as it's not in the way (as I always cycle to school). What about you? How much snow there's usually in the place you live?

"SHIFT + Print Scrn" At least Windows XP doesn't need the SHIFT with the Print Screen. If Jordan has XP, you're making the poor man waste about 0.1 microcalories due to pressing an unnecessary button.

"I recall injesting Barium for a test. Don't know which isotope." Possibly 122 or 123. But don't they usually use isotopes that go through IT or B+, instead of EC?

Closing a chemistry department of an university is like chopping an arm off an armwrestler. >:/

What? There's a smoking ban in UK? In what aspect? Do you mean in restaurants and so on, since that's what they're trying to get here too.

"I will start selling "I talked to Matt Grime" t shirts soon." Can I have the black XL version of "Matt Grime - Kicking math-haters in the arse since the dawn of time" ?

Chem Project, I need the chemical structure of simethicone
Gilded replied to a topic in Organic Chemistry
Rather odd, I can't seem to find it anywhere. It appears to be a mixture of dimethyl polysiloxanes, but that's where my knowledge about simethicone ends. :| -
"The fact that H+ forms H3O has no effect on the pH since both are the same thing. H+ and H3O are simply two different ways of representing the same thing." I know that, but because OH- doesn't stick to H2O, it's 0.1mol Na+, 0.9mol water and 0.1mol OH- in the example solution I presented. Isn't it? So does it count as a 1mol solution, telling that the OH- are virtually still attached to the Na+, or do you get 1.1 mol solution from this experiment?

About the uranium again "Depleted Uranium is actually VERY inexpensive" You're absolutely right about that. As I said, uranium and thorium are the nasty metals that are cheap, plenty, yet a private individual has hard time trying to acquire them. I guess most nations would be glad to give some of their thorium away, yet they can't (or shouldn't at least, because of the international regulations).

"They sometimes use symbols like a flower for close up or "macro" and mountains for normal or landscape stuff." Ahh, I see. I guess I used it then. However, the picture probably didn't turn out as well as it could have, but pretty good anyway. Edit: I'm actually quite sure I used it, since the camera refuses to take close-pictures without the close-up option.

Was it a high power electron microscope that the IBM-xenon-nickel thing picture was taken with? With the individual atoms showing and all.

"I usually dont trust servers that are just too polite..." You're absolutely right about that. Just because a forum/server has never directly killed anyone, doesn't mean they're not after you! "Thank you for pointing this out." Always here to help. You can have some of the fly agarics too if you want to, great stuff (got to wait for 2005 Autumn for them to grow again though >:/ )

"Did you use macro when you took your crystal pic" I don't know.

"These are 2.5 dollar gold eagles from the late 1800's and early 1900's." You've got to be ****ing kidding me?!? I've seen people buying them for over 200$ a piece! >:/

"Ill forgive you if you send me one." I wouldn't mind one either... Care to exchange it for gallium?

If they're 1/2 ounce or more, I hope jdurg has bad dreams for buying gold for 1% of its actual value from an old, possibly senile, lady.

You can also use a digital camera for lots of things. Preferably for taking lousy pictures of element samples. http://www.freewebs.com/gildedchem/crystal.JPG Mmm-mm! Bismutholicious!

"also plutonium is man made, the odds of you having any in your system are low (except because of botched space launches and such)" You know, if you had a kilo of potatoes, I'd guess about 10 plutonium and/or americium nuclei disintegrate in there every second. That is a ridiculously low amount, but I like nitpicking. :> Edit: Plutonium has been found in tobacco too! In ridiculously minute traces though, once again.

Argh, lager drinking Brittish folk. I remember this thread being about something else than downing a pint, but I'm probably wrong. :>

-The Comical Mishaps of Phi For All- And once it happened so, that Phi's comical mishaps weren't so comical, and he went to Heaven. At the Pearly Gates St. Peter asked him: "What good things did you do in your life? I mean, good things for the spreading of Christianity?" "Umm... yeah, I taught a motorcycle club called The Undead Devils about the wonders of Christianity!" "Good job! When did that happen?" St. Peter asked. "About two minutes ago", Phi answered. -More rather comical mishaps of... some persons- YT2095, Gilded and Phi for All were on a plane. Then Gilded thought: "Hey, let's drop something down and see if it hits something!" YT and Phi agreed. Gilded dropped a stone, YT dropped a chili pepper and Phi dropped a hand grenade. Afterwards, they went to look for their items. Gilded saw a crying girl and asked: "Why are you crying?" "Well, someone first threw me with a stone and then a large chili pepper fell on my head", the girl sobbed. YT, Gilded and Phi kept walking, wondering what happened to the grenade. Soon, Phi saw a laughing boy and asked: "Why are you laughing?" "You're not going to believe this", the boy said. "When I farted, my neighbor's shed blew up!"

"RDX or HMTD no doubt!" Yeah, as I said before, I personally have no intention of making any of those. Nor TCAP, DDNP, MEKP or HMX. I think enough people have died making them, and I don't want to be the next member in the club.

"I am fairly sure that the moon landings did happen, but I do think that some of the pictures were faked for propoganda reasons." Comes to mind, if they painted "Coca-Cola - enjoy" on the Moon surface with red and white, could you read it clearly from down here? Also, a certain story called "The Color out of Space" comes to mind from the name of this thread. Iä! Iä! Fhtagn!

"Why does this forum thank me for doing things? It's weird." Refsmmat, didn't I tell you to stop eating those fly agariks out of my backyard? >:/ When the forum starts telling jokes and offers you milk and cookies (not Internet-cookies, the other kind), you should probably consult a doctor. Anyway, I think it would be great if the forum thanked you for everything you do. "Thank you for the spam!" "Thank you for being a moron!" "Thank you for posting nonsense!"
