so you dont think so. why ? everyone who posted here wants to have kid and dont think it is most likely parents are to be alienated from their adult children except me and my friends and some friends' friends. it is so sarcastic we have often been told since childhood that children are so selfish that you should never expect to depend on them in the future by our teachers, parents, grandparents, friends' parents, relatives, the elderly, etc.

Poll doesnt make sense to public ? why we have it ?

can we have a vote among those who have adult children and feel they are alienated from them and not cared by them ?

what is the chemical substance which destroyed my banana ?
fresh replied to fresh's topic in Applied Chemistry
No. it is not something which delays its ripening but stops its ripening, . and it tastes it will never become ripe. No. -
It becomes a social problem but it doesnt exist in your eyes. I really dont understand it. http://www.today.com/moms/parental-estrangement-silent-epidemic-cut-kids-1C9163139 "No parent wants to imagine a day when your child would refuse to speak to you. But estrangements between parents and adult children may be more common than you think. One expert calls it a "silent epidemic." I believe what i heard and saw around me, it happens so often. it hurts. why need citation ? facts speak louder than words.

what is the chemical substance which destroyed my banana ?
fresh posted a topic in Applied Chemistry
I bought a bunch of half-ripe banana. 6 days later, it still looked not ripe enough to eat, so i waited for another 3 days. It didnt change at all. I finally ran out of my patience and peeled one and took a bite. it tasted nasty and raw. what i did with the rest was to dump it. I guess the sellers put some chemical into it to make it last longer. unfortunately, it destroyed the fruit and it will never become ripe in a natural way. what is that chemical they use ? thanks. -
random forum can not approve it exists ? >_<''

It is not a case study i am talking about, but a social problem to be discussed. It is also the phenomenon i notice. the link i provide gives the evidence it exists. what's wrong with it ?

I have a handy telescope which looks like a toy, but it works quite good. it is similar to the pic i attach below. Does telescope hurt eyesight ? i feel a bit dizzy after using it for 30 minutes.

sad,,a popular phenomenon needs citations...ok here is http://ths.gardenweb.com/forums/load/parents/msg0701394816256.html From what i observe from my relatives, my cousins,my friends, friends' friends, other people and news and public interest ads,,,,etc. it is NOT a damn speculation at all ! It is a serious social problem ! ! (INow, how often do you visit your parents ? ) From your link: "This year, my New Year's resolution is to care less. Care less for people who care little for me. Care less for people who judge and condemn me for being the person I am. Care less for people who struggle so deeply with their own issues, that they have little or nothing to share with me. Certainly to care less for people who would demean, diminish, isolate and harm me. I will not necessarily stop loving. I will stop investing. I will place my caring where it is meaningful and matters. I will place my caring with people who are capable of reciprocating in kind." Sounds like a good New Years resolution for anyone/everyone! http://ths.gardenweb.com/forums/load/parents/msg0701394816256.html (i like this post by dreamgarden.) Although it is illegal, the implementation of law is almost impossible.

How often do you visit your parents ? How often do you cook for them and chat with them ? How much do you care about them ? Do you care about your own kids/wife/husband more than your parents ? It becomes very common the adult children ignore their parents. They seldom visit them, even dont contact them for a long time(don't bother to call.). It is so hurtful ..... Why people never ask themselves why we need to have kid ? what have we done to our parents ? we cant deny we once hurt them and made them worry about us and even cried for us. I think ignoring parents is a big tragedy and not tolerable ! how to avoid such tragedy to happen ?

1a. no description of the room arrangement. I only assume that the room must be VERY small... 1b. i am not convinced. Sherlock didnt give any clue or hint of his conclusion. 1c. the stupid murderer makes the story dull, whereas the high IQ one makes the detective stories absorbing. no wonder it took the criminal 20 years to track the victims and kill them. but what's the point of creating a stupid murderer to readers ?? Another Q is how could Sherlock tell the brands of tobacco by observing the ashes with his naked eyes ? (i cant find in which page)

get back and brush up your memory; you will find a lot of holes. His deduction doesn't hold water. 1. chapter 7 : Light in the darkness a. page 55-56 :"...the boots pointed out the door to me, and was about to go downstairs again when i saw something that made me feel sickish,..... From under the door there curled a little red ribbon of blood, which had meandered across the passage and formed a little pool along the skirting at the other side....the door was locked on the inside, but we put our shoulders to it, and knocked it in. The window of the room was open, and beside the window, all huddled up, lay the body of a man in his nightdress. He was quite dead and had been for some time, for his limbs were rigid and cold....The cause of death was a deep stab in the left side, which must have penetrated the heart." Q: The man was found dead beside the window, how much blood he lost is enough to flow to the door to be seen ? b. page 57 : " Nothing of any importance.... There was a glass of water on the table, and on the window-sill a small chip ointment box containing a couple of pills." Sherlock Holmes sprang from his chair with an exclamation of delight. "The last link," he cried, exultantly."My case is complete." Q: How did Sherlock jump into conclusion at the mention of a small chip ointment box that it is the pills in the ointment box that poisoned the first victim ? and only half of pills is toxic ? Q: Why is murderer so stupid to leave the ointment box he did not use to kill the 2nd victim on the dead man's room ? Q: Why is the murderer so stupid to return to the place where Sherlock and Dr. Watson live after he was much alarmed that Sherlock followed his friend who took the ring back from Sherlock ? 2. Page 117 (conclusion) "... it is seldom that any man, unless he is very full-blooded, breaks out in this way through emotion, so i hazarded the opinion that thecriminal was probably a robust and ruddy-faced man." Q: is it medically true a full-blooded man who has aneurysm has a ruddy face and nosebleed ? 3...... 4...... 5...... 6...... (not complete)

Even if it were possible in the future, it would be morally prohibited. quote : And if it's possible, please tell me the process of doing such experiment. Trust me, you will never get an answer here.- 12 replies

Clap, clap, clap, why do we clap?
fresh replied to CaptainPanic's topic in Psychiatry and Psychology
my understanding is that arm and hand movement accounts for at least 50% of our body language. clapping is like hug which is a body reaction to something that makes people excited. example of body language: shocking : raise our hands to cover our mouth; excited to see your boyfriend/girlfriend : hug; pissed off : waving fists; our body will automatically respond to context. it is so handy to use our arm and hand to show our emotion, hence clapping loudly. clapping is for long distance while hug and shaking hands are for short distance. how to let others notice our body language ? we also have to make loud noise. -
Parrot, Alex, can speak English. His vocabulary is 150 words. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alex_(parrot)#Death 'Alex (1976 – September 6, 2007)[1] was an African Grey Parrot and the subject of a thirty-year (1977–2007) experiment by animal psychologist Irene Pepperberg, initially at theUniversity of Arizona and later at Harvard Universityand Brandeis University.' 'Alex had a vocabulary of about 150 words.......' Besides that, our best friends, dog&chimp, can understand our language, such as , hello, go, come over, stop, no, bad, good, take it, love you, run, jump, eat, etc. Not only our human but also animals can learn foreign language.
