  1. Davida- an asteroid with a mean diameter of 289km,a semimajor axis of 3.16 au discovered in 1903 by R.S. Dugan
  2. This guy has posted this thread on at least three forums.
  3. ergosphere - a region located outside a rotating black hole. Its name is derived from the Greek word ergon, which means work. Sleep - what I'm about to do.
  4. Regulus -is the brightest star in the constellation Leo and one of the brightest stars in the night sky, lying approximately 79 light years from Earth. Regulus is a multiple star system composed of four stars that are organized into two pairs. (Can't believe I haven't used this one either)
  5. Particle physics could be said to be a primary field of all science. 😄
  6. Nova- a star that flares up to several times its original brightness for some time before returning to its original state (I can't believe we haven't used this, but it doesn't show up in search) (We also seem to be drifting away from astronomy and cosmology and into particle physics...I'm just sayin...)
  7. Radiation Belt -a ring-shaped region around a planet in which electrically charged particles (usually electrons and protons) are trapped.
  8. Hypergalaxy -a system consisting of a spiral galaxy surrounded by several dwarf white galaxies, often ellipticals. Our galaxy and the Andromeda galaxy are examples of hypergalaxies.
  9. Yeah, but the letter was.'y'. The word star was in the description not the name
  10. Sanurphuey- star with the Hipparcos number 37329 (The hipparcos catalog is great)
  11. Ykciwz - name of the star with the Hipparcos number of 46515
  12. Astrochemistry- The branch of science that explores the chemical interactions between dust and gas interspersed between the stars.
  13. Galactic Halo- The name given to the spherical region surrounding the center, or nucleus of a galaxy.
  14. Lenticular Galaxy- A disk-shaped galaxy that contains no conspicuous structure within the disk. Lenticular galaxies tend to look more like elliptical galaxies than spiral galaxies.
  15. Synodic Month -The period of time it takes the Moon to make one complete revolution around the Earth. A Synodic month is equal to 29.53 days and is measured as the time between a lunar phase and the return of that same phase.
  16. Inferior Planet- A planet that orbits between the Earth and the Sun. Mercury and Venus are the only two inferior planets in our solar system.
  17. MACHO (Massive Compact Halo Object) -- These are black holes, neutron stars and brown dwarfs, none of which are luminous and all of which are postulated to exist in the halos of galaxies. They are a form of dark matter.
  18. Supermoon- A term used to describe a full moon that occurs during the Moon's closest approach to the Earth. During a supermoon, the Moon may appear slightly larger and brighter than normal.
  19. Day-a unit of time based on one rotation of the earth. (Are we getting desperate?)
  20. NEREUS -a Near-Earth asteroid that is about 0.6 to 1.25 miles (1-2 km) in diameter. It has an orbital period of 1.82 yrs and a semimajor axis of 1.490 A
  21. Eclipsing Binary- A binary system where one object passes in front of the other, cutting off some or all of its light.
  22. Dschubba- arabic name for δ Sco in the constellation Scorpio
  23. Electra- one of the Pleiades
  24. Apoapsis- the point in orbit farthest from the planet.
  25. No,gravity does not wear off or diminish by use. It doesn't get used up.
