  1. Equant-The center of a planetary epicycle.
  2. Decretion disk-a circumstellar disk formed from gas ejected from the central star that now follows a near Keplerian orbit around it. This type of disk can be found around many Be stars.
  3. Extinction- The apparent dimming of star or planet when low on the horizon due to absorption by the Earth's atmosphere.
  4. Stellar Wind- The ejection of gas from the surface of a star. Many different types of stars, including our Sun, have stellar winds. The stellar wind of our Sun is also known as the Solar wind. A star's stellar wind is strongest near the end of its life when it has consumed most of its fuel.
  5. Granulation- A pattern of small cells that can be seen on the surface of the Sun. They are caused by the convective motions of the hot gases inside the Sun.
  6. Radio Galaxy- A galaxy that gives off large amounts of energy in the form of radio waves.
  7. Extragalactic- outside of or beyond our own galaxy.
  8. NASDA - The National Air and Space Development Agency in Japan
  9. Heliosphere - the immense magnetic bubble containing our solar system, solar wind, and the entire solar magnetic field. It extends well beyond the orbit of Pluto.
  10. Elliptical Galaxy- A galaxy whose structure shaped like an ellipse and is smooth and lacks complex structures such as spiral arms.
  11. Meteoroid- A small, rocky object in orbit around the Sun, smaller than an asteroid.
  12. Molecular Cloud- An interstellar cloud of molecular hydrogen containing trace amounts of other molecules such as carbon monoxide and ammonia.
  13. Orion - winter constellation in the northern hemisphere
  14. Amalthea - one of Jupiter's moons.
  15. Ymir - a moon of Saturn. In Norse mythology Ymir was the first creature created.
  16. Recombination era - the period when the temperature of the universe dropped low enough for electrons to be captured by protons, aprox 380,000 years after inflation.
  17. Oh certainly. I was just commenting on how large this has grown. I've even repeated myself. Demeter - the tenth moon of Jupiter , as well as the name of the ship which brought Count Dracula to England.
  18. We're repeating ourselves. The threads too large to go back and see if something has been used.
  19. Aldebaran -an orange giant star located about 65 light years away in the zodiac constellation of Taurus. With an average apparent magnitude of 0.87 it is the brightest star in the constellation and is one of the brightest stars in the nighttime sky.
  20. Endeavour- the fifth and last shuttle built. It flew 25 missions the first in May of 1992 and the last in May of 2011.
  21. Heliopause - the point in space at which the solar wind meets the interstellar medium..
  22. Spicules- small, short lived patterns of gas seen in the atmosphere of the Sun.
  23. Saros Cycle - a period of 223 synodic months that can be used to predict solar and lunar eclipses. The saros cycle is equal to 6,585.3 days (18 years 11 days 8 hours).
  24. Anything which is "but it's lacking in logic." tends to actually be correct. When it comes to matters of science and physics, logic sucks.
  25. I haven't been following this thread closely (or even loosely) but is there any who claims the United States is either not a nation or is homogeneous?
