It's just another electro-chemical fuel cell. The company describes it as, "... designed to be stacked into small blocks and housed in a unit about the size of a refrigerator."

Calculating an angle for my speeding defense!
Pantaz replied to wronglyconvicted's topic in Mathematics
The judge neglected to include the word "area". As far as I understand the process, that omission does not overrule the officer's original testimony and is not sufficient grounds for appeal. (IANAL) I have had officers tell me straight out that they were writing the citiation for a speed lower than what they observed (and lower than the speed I know I was traveling). I consider that a good thing. -

September 11th; does anyone else think it was suspicious
Pantaz replied to Fanghur's topic in Speculations
I heard they were planted in the basement. The 9/11 CT forum at JREF makes for some highly entertaining reading. They also have a very good collection of links to resources for debunking 9/11 Conspiracy Theories. -
It would be helpful to see a simple diagram of how it is constructed. (Electrical and mechanical.)

What would you change about the new SFN?
Pantaz replied to Cap'n Refsmmat's topic in Suggestions, Comments and Support
I really miss the topic preview on mouse-hover. Yes, I know about the hidden-until-mouse-over "click for preview" icon -- took me a while to discover that, by the way. That extra click for a preview just annoys me. Every other forum I visit regularly has a hover for preview feature. -

You may be able to help me with this business concept problem…

I think the fee would be better accepted on a per-hour basis, as most service type jobs are paid. You would almost certainly need to be bonded, since you would be entrusted with personal financial information. -
Evolution vs Creationism
Pantaz replied to marjoleinbastin's topic in Evolution, Morphology and Exobiology
Just a couple of suggestions: Question 4, "Income" -- Some people do not like to divulge personal financial data. You should include the option, "Prefer not to answer". Question 9, "Do you tolerate different opinions in this matter?" -- I can't accurately answer simply "yes/no". My level of tolerance depends greatly on the actions and attitude of the person offering the opinion. Question 10, "Is/was evolution or creationism taught to you in school?" -- I was taught creation in Sunday school bible classes when I was young. However, I do not recall ever seeing it in public school. -
Incorrect. Sean McCarthy (CEO of Steorn) has publicly stated that their latest demo did NOT show zero CEMF: Long-time Steorn skeptic Alsetalokin (as he is known on their forum) has been conducting independent experiments that very closely replicate Steorn's public demonstrations. He has a large number of videos on YouTube (under the name "TinselKoala") showing these experiments, beginning with: Steorn Rebuttal 1 His latest work is a more detailed series of experiments (34 videos), beginning with: Orbette 1: Layout, scope interpretation, RPM fluctuation

What facts are those? What has this to do with psychiatry? Citations required. If you want to talk about athletic training, start a different thread.

Sounds like you want a "document indexing" or "document management system" (DMS). There are many commercial offerings, (most are targeted to enterprise level support), but quite a few open source alternatives exist. I briefly looked into this subject for a friend, but this is about as far as I got before they pulled the plug on the idea. (Their needs required scanning several thousand pages of paper documents.)

I for one am FED UP with the evermore INVASIVE efforts against our PRIVACY
Pantaz replied to dr.syntax's topic in The Lounge
If I don't want to give a company/website my personal information, I just use a fake name, address, phone, SSN, and of course, I dedicate a throw-away e-mail for SPAM. (The Firefox add-on FireForm actually has that as a feature.) For things such as a grocery store "rewards card", I change the spelling of my name. I still receive my "rewards" coupons in the mail, but if they sell my info to a mailing list, I can easily identify the junk mail.- 42 replies

Primal Therapy: Some real help for a troubled World
Pantaz replied to dr.syntax's topic in Speculations
I rather prefer the website http://debunkingprimaltherapy.com/ From the Introduction page: "It is necessary to outline my background a little so that the reader can assess whether I am qualified to write such an assessment of primal therapy. In the early nineties I began to read Arthur Janov’s primal books, and by the end of that decade had read every one of them, some more than once. Later, I went through 7 semesters of therapist training at Dr Janov’s Primal Center in Venice California. Before and at the same time I was a participant in the therapy too, as was deemed necessary to become a primal therapist. With the initial goal to start the long process to get state licensure in California, (and returning to the Primal Center training perhaps later if I decided to be a primal therapist), I went back to school to prepare myself for graduate school. These goals changed slowly as I learned more in college. What I learned at school, in many courses in psychology and science combined with many first hand observations of primal therapy is what this article and website is about."- 19 replies

Is the Swine Flu vaccine harmefull in any way?
Pantaz replied to John Phoenix's topic in Speculations
From that partial list of foods that Mercola deems unhealthy, let's look at that those with which you do agree: trans fats: Safe to say, these are pretty much universally accepted as "bad for you". artificial sweeteners: There is enough controversy over "artificial sweeteners" that I'll leave this one out. Although, other than saccharin, I have yet to see any proper studies that find conclusive evidence of "danger" from such things as Aspartame. artificial foods: I will assume this refers to "artificial flavors and colors" (food additives). I am unaware of any current, proper studies finding harm in the use of these, but I can understand a personal desire to avoid unnecessary additives in one's food. Please, have a go at the rest... pasteurized milk homogenized milk corn and canola oil unfermented soy products sugar starches canned [or] packaged foods Citations, please? I'd especially like to see a source for this "toxicity" claim. So, since you agree with Mercola's anti-vaccine/anti-drug/anti-food rhetoric, you simply dismiss the third bullet-item and refuse to look further into the references I offered. Which is why I cite Wikipedia only when it contains sufficient external references -- The Mercola page includes several dozen. The primary entry on QuackWatch for Mercola is a reference to FDA (Food and Drug Administration) warnings issued for "illegal claims for products sold through his web site". (I.e., Claims of treatment for cancer and Alzheimer's.) I have read the science behind vaccines, and as with anything we put on or in our bodies, there is risk versus benefit. The proven benefits of modern vaccines heavily outweighs the risk.
