  1. I thought it was Rasmussen who only polled people who were likely voters.
  2. I don't really think that "they allowed it to appear", as much as I think perhaps the media "wanted it to appear".
  3. To my knowledge, it was the international red cross who made the condemnation, not the American red cross. IMO, the IRC is a little like Amnesty International.
  4. I suspect if an American or a Brit were captured, they'd be disemboweled prior to being decapitated.
  5. They are NOT "enemy combatants", they're "illegal combatants", belligerents....there's a difference.
  6. Or put another way, Bush and the Republicans have been accused of being in bed with big business, thus, all white collar crooks are expected to get a free ride. Bush has shown that he's tough on corporate crime...though I expect he'll never get credit for it.
  7. I agree.....1st of all, the 2500 foot rule doesn't make any sense at all, I doubt the law makers know what 2500 feet is. Then to make a ridiculous law even more ridiculous, they make it retroactive. Then they seem to lump the pedophiles with the statutory rape boys, which compounds the nonsense. If these pedophiles have been released into the public, then presumably they've paid their debt to society, if this is so, then let them live where they want to live. If the good people of Florida don't like it, then let them invoke the final solution......execute the pedophiles, or keep them penned for life. I'd imagine the liberals of Broward county have bleeding hearts when it comes to the rights of criminals, just don't let that criminal come within 2500 feet of my house.
  8. Yes, very close. the collecter and emitter current are almost the same. The collector resistor is selected to bias the transistor in it's operating point. The collector voltage is simply the collector current times the collector resistor. V=IR. That is to say, the base voltage is known, (you selected it), then with .65V dropped across the base/emitter junction, the emitter voltage is known, thus the emitter current is known, thus the collector current is known, and the collector resistor is known, and the supply voltage is known, so the collector voltage is known.
  9. Since the output is rated at 400W, the losses are already accounted for. Yes, 26V at 15 amps is the same as 52V at 7.5 amps, you have a choice.
  10. Agreed, but wouldn't it be nice if we knew exactly who was talking to whom?
  11. Well, if you have 52 volts at 400 Watts, seems like it'll deliver 7 or 8 amps.
  12. Yeah Phi, you might be right. I see the statement as somewhat ambiguous, my 1st interpretation was...that we're getting more liberal each day, perhaps without even knowing it, so as time passes, and things change, we find that what was lberal 20 years ago, is conservative today.
  13. That's the point, and that's why I interpreted it that way, which was my second interpretation of what I thought was an ambiguous statement
  14. Probably, we've become more liberal over the last 50 years, what's to stop us from becoming even more liberal.....like instant cloning, instead of wasting 9 months having a baby.
  15. Is it possible that he meant that people tend to become more conservative as they grow older? See the light, so to speak.
  16. From your description, it seems like the White/red leads are the primary of the transformer, with the orange/yellow leads being the secondary, and the black being the secondary center tap........The problem is.. the yellow.orange resistance should have been 1.8 ohms. Try putting a 100W light bulb in series with the red/white leads, then plug it in. Measure the voltage across the red/white leads, then measure the voltage across the presumed secondary.
  17. How does the French "NO" vote on the E.U. constitution affect the status of it ever being ratified? Will the Netherlands vote "NO" next wednesday ?, if yes, does that sink the boat ? What is Chirac's future?
  18. Does this mean we're not in as bad of shape as the Dems say we are? Is the NY times et al clobbering Bush via the military's alarming and horrific injustice's to the POW's.....because they can't crucify him on the dreadful state of the economy?? Edited to add...link 3 ...I always liked Larry Kudlow, maybe because I liked what he had to say. I've watched him on Kudlow and Kramer, but haven't tuned in for awhile.
  19. I think Bush keeps the evangelical vote either way....veto/no veto Personally, I think Bush is making a mistake on this one, I see the veto as a loser. As for your "suffer and die without justification " statement, It's a little premature, kind've like Kerry and Edwards who had Christopher Reeves stepping out of his wheelchair.
  20. Swansont gave you the formula
  21. You've got the capacitive reactance Xc and inductive reactance XL the two resistors add to equal 80 ohms = Rt the impedance Z = sqrt (Rt squared + (XL - Xc)sqrd) Fr = 1÷ 2*pi* (sqrt(L*C))
  22. In my opinion, Yes, he'll veto the bill, and no, the house doesn't have enough votes to overide. To my knowledge, the funding for SC research will remain the same as last year, he is vetoing the expansion of the funding.
  23. The battery voltage is constant the instant the switch is closed the voltage on the capacitor is 0v thus, the voltage drop across the resistor is equal to the battery voltage since the cap blocks DC, one plate begins to charge. When the charge reaches the battery voltage the voltage drop across the resistor is 0v
  24. Thanks, I just learned something.
