  1. What about this then. I belive that once a photon has been liberated from an atom it no longer has any velocity in the time dimension. All matter is traveling through spacetime at c, in the case of matter most of the velocity is in the time dimension. When a photon is emitted from an atom it is mearly dropped off in 3D space, standing still in time (as it does) while the rest of the "solid" universe speeds away at c, giving the observer the impression that it is the photon that is moving away at the speed of light. The photon, being an oscilating electromagnetic wave, appears to any observer wizzing by to be a sine wave, but that is only the view of the observer (similar to the light clock analogy). When the photon is observed close up the sine wave is no longer apparent and the photon now appears as a mass-less point (or particle) Same can be said for all kinds of "raw" energy, this energy cannot travel through time. This should be fun!!!
  2. Thank you Timo, that told me! Unlikly yes, impossible no.
  3. Thank you Klaynos, I am looking at understanding something that is outside the current bounds of science, it is something that will change our whole perception of the universe and the way it works. The speed of light question is just the start.
  4. I agree, (I've always struggled with massless particles having momentum) but are these equasions not back engineered? They certianly explain the relationships but not the reason, that is, they do not explain why the photons leaving your display are so repulsed by the atoms in the LED and so attracted to the atoms in your retina. Go easy on me!
  5. But why? When that photon, be it massless particle or wave, is liberated from an atom why does it race off at the cosmic speed limit? Is there not a mathematical formula for an electromagnetic wave which can be used to calculate the speed at which it propogates through space? Sorry Swansont, only just noticed my 'telling off'! Can you move this to its correct pleace?
  6. You tell me, i have my own theory.
  7. Hi, I'm Pete, electrical/electronic engineer, company director and a head full of theories which explain (to me at least) the mysteries of the cosmic speed limit, time dilation, the extraordinary properties of light and a link between modern physics and quantum mechanics. I am looking at our universe from outside the box and it requires a lot of imagination to follow. On the other hand, I've had no formal training or studies on this subject so it may all be a load of c**p. I'll start posting soon
