  1. While I recognise your attempt at trying to be funny for obvious reasons, that also is wrong. Time as well as space came into existence and evolved at the BB.
  2. No somewhere is somewhere...a particular spot. The BB happened everywhere at the same time, as everywhere was packed to withing that quantum/Planck scale and space and time, (as we know them) evolved. No outside and no centre to speak of. The sometime was 13.83 billion years ago.
  3. Or perhaps its you that should grow up? Is this some sort of superiority complex of yours? Now again, If you have an answer/clarification, then point me to it. If you havn't, then keep on doing what you are doing...or grow up? ps: You may notice a change in my methodology. It's only for a couple of you though, that have this reputation of asking questions off other questions and other weird and wonderfulphilosophical deeeep thinking stuff. I'm simply giving you back similar, but I must admit I am somewhat surprised you are unable to handle it.🤭
  4. And red negs? 🤮 Or is that from another insulted pretend philosopher? You havn't given an answer...Perhaps some cryptic nonsense you are noted for and as mentioned by others, but no answer. If you have an answer/clarification, then point me to it. If you havn't, then keep on doing what you are doing. 😅 Science is what you know. Philosophy is what you don't know. Bertrand Russell (1872-1970) English philosopher, mathematician. An example of a real philsopher, understanding reality.😉
  5. Further to that, which MigL has commented on. A scientific theory does not mean what is sometimes meant as a theory in normal speak. A scientific theory is our best estimation at the time of formation, according to the observational and experimental evidence. It is always open for improvement, modification, and change, as observations and experiments dictate. A scientific theory is the best we have, and always grows in certainty, the longer it aligns with the evidence, and as predictions made by the theory are verified. eg: BH's and gravitational radiation in recent times. That is speculation.
  6. The BB was an evolution of space and time. So it happened everywhere at the same time. It was all there was and there was no outside or no centre. The recent discovery of an acceleration in the expansion rate, makes any future collapse unlikely. Remembering of course this expansion is only observed over the larger scales. Over smaller scales like galactic groups, galaxies, solar systems etc, gravity due to densities overcomes that expansion rate, and such systems are bound. The other forces of Electromagnetism, and the strong and weak nuclear forces also play a part on even smaller scales.
  7. So why bring up this nonsensical re "the infinity of creation" We do have evidence by the way, but nothing absolute or conclusive. ?? Don't be too concerned. I didn't expect an answer anyway. (1) A work in progress with limited forms of success. https://whyy.org/segments/fusion-energy/ https://www.livescience.com/nuclear-fusion-reactor-sparc-2025.html (2) We are still in the baby step class as far as space exploration and the search for life goes. Nup wrong again. The BB didn't start "somewhere" It was the evolution of space and time (as we know them) from t+10-35th seconds. In other words the BB happened everywhere. It was all there ever was. You make a poor author. Even if Panspermia was the means, that original microbrial cell or amino acids, still needed to evolve on Earth, and of course is not what we generally know as Alien. Any new lifeform discovered, will be easily determined to be terrestrial or non terretstrial I suggest. https://www.sciencedirect.com/topics/earth-and-planetary-sciences/panspermia The panspermia theory argues that life is originated in space, in spatial ices, and continuously distributed to the planets by comets and meteorites. The soft panspermia theory stays one step behind. According to this, instead of living forms, amino acids, sugars, and the molecules required to form RNA are produced in space. Experiments consisting in the irradiation of interstellar ice analogs with stellar-like UV radiation have shown that indeed, the building blocks of the RNA can be produced in space. Moreover, these laboratory results agree well with the measurements obtained from meteorites and the data gathered by the Rosetta mission from comet C67/Churyumov-Gerasimenko. The implications of this soft theory are enormous since, as a result, life forms in the Cosmos would be compatible at the molecular level. ::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::::
  8. Simple questions, seem far to hard for you, so you resort to insults? You havn't given an answer...Perhaps some cryptic nonsense you are noted for and as mentioned by others, but no answer. If you have an answer/clarification, then point me to it. If you havn't, then keep on doing what you are doing. What's your answer?
  9. Of course all statements with regards to free speech are right and wise. As is koti's and many other examples. To me at least, it simply validates the fact that no amount of intention to be open and fair to free speech, actions, and philsophical standings, can ever be absolute, in every circumstance, on every occasion. Who counts the bodies? Who reports on the count? Perhaps all we can be confident in is as per the little ditty, "You can fool all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you cannot fool all of the people all of the time.” The best we have is as per your great Abraham Lincoln was reported to have said during your civil war....... The government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth. Was going to comment and make a remark on that statement....and then suddenly, the penny dropped!! 😉
  10. Have you any reference for them starting at the same time? What do you mean by "roughly"? So why did you misinterpret what we generally mean by Alien in context with this thread? How do you know we will ever meet any alien for that matter? "we are them" is another rather iffy statment, so we will ignore that bizarre bit. Yes, that is for certain. Obviously you have none. What is it referring to then if not the universe or anything that followed that necessary first step? And generally speaking, when the word "creation" is mentioned and used, it inevitably is inferring a god. The universe evolved more then was created. ??? 🥴 Would you like to explain that? or at least give a link to where you dug up that phrase? 😉
  11. I say so. You havn't given an answer...Perhaps some cryptic nonsense you are noted for and as mentioned by others, but no answer. If you have an answer/clarification, then point me to it. If you havn't, then keep on doing what you are doing. The old pot kettle black scenario again! 😁 I suspect you are annoyed by my deity criticism. Is that it? I mean reading between the lines, at times it does seem you accept the supernatural/paranormal myth rather then reality and fact. But you can lie to me if you wish. 😉
  12. Just as I thought...nothing. or........ An extention on the fact that we all lie at some time or other for the greater good, might be the "Tooth Fairy" the "Easter Bunny" and Santa Claus that we tell little children......Young children need to induge in fun times, magic beings and such, as it adds joy and wonderment to their lives, and saves them from the toil, grudgery and dismal news we as adults must bare. It also enables a child, as he grows and matures, to wonder, and critically appraise the situation. By the same token, it's a shame that other beliefs in magic like deities etc, are not treated the same as Santa and company. Instead, the brainwashing continues unabbaited into adulthood in most cases.
  13. The end certainly does justify the means, if the moral gains of the ends are greater than the moral losses by the means.eg: the ticking bomb scenario with thousands of innocent lives at stake. but like most things, it cannot be said to be absolute. And I wouldn't really expect you to. It's been a long time since I watched the presentation, and from memory, I recall the relevant bit is around the 40 miniute mark. He covers much ground, that you will find interesting I'm sure, when you have that 75 minutes to spare. No I havn't yet rewatched it. Again as per our past conversations, humanities expansion into space, hasn't a time frame on it. We cannot really know at what pace we will move at, and when lulls and limited stagnation may occur. No one is expert at predicting the future with any accuracies, but some certainly have a more realistic approach then others. And yes, it is possible that as we do expand, we may find a limitation to what we can and what we can't do to facilitate such expansion. I also don't share the "superhuman" concept, and see it as fantastic fantasy...Improvements, yes most certainly...in what way? I'm not really qualified to go into that.
  14. Nearly forgot the above error; In actual fact, we cannot be sure that the universe is infinite or finite, just that it is very big. Our observable universe certainly does have a finite size and age....13.83 billion years and 96 billion L/years in diameter Another point that might add to the likelyhood of abiogenesis and life evolving, is that our Sun is also a rareity in that it isn't part of a binary or trinary or more system, as it appears most are.
  15. https://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/2022/03/24/trump-sues-hillary-clinton-others-over-2016-election-he-won/ Strange times indeed.
  16. Can you show me where? Is this why you use so much comedy or sci/fi routines to cryptically illustrate whatever point you are trying to make? In essence, I'm quite comfortable is admitting that I sometimes lie, and often am not totally forthcoming with the whole truth, for what I see as the greater good. And sometimes for my own benefit, but at the same time, not detracting from anyone else. Everyone lies of course!
  17. Yep, pretty much agree. (1) A work in progress with limited forms of success. https://whyy.org/segments/fusion-energy/ https://www.livescience.com/nuclear-fusion-reactor-sparc-2025.html (2) We are still in the baby step class as far as space exploration and the search for life goes, Yes, and we'll probably keep trying...that's science. " that's highly likely to have sustained life at some point in it's history" No, you mean "that's highly capable of the possibility of sustaining life at some point." And that's why we keep up with robotic searches, at least until we put boots on Mars. https://solarsystem.nasa.gov/missions/huygens/in-depth/#:~:text=The Cassini-Huygens project was,Saturn's largest moon%2C in 2005. Not to bad considering we are still taking baby steps. In time though, enginering, technological capabilities and know how, will probably also solve this. Any reference for that please? Note, we are sensibly speaking of Alien life, as life not originating on Earth, as most would attest to.. A comedy sci/fi routine is not a reputable source. It wouldn't matter if we had trillions of years, it still needs enough of practical and theoretical science to be done. Unless of course you have some hidden insight into the future and how much time we have? +1 Yeah, I also found it to be less then appropriate. In a thread about exobiology, the definition of Alien is obvious.
  18. https://phys.org/news/2022-03-video-astronomers-reveal-remarkable-simulations.html It looks like fireflies flickering in the darkness. Slowly, more and more amass, lighting up the screen in large chunks and clusters. But this is not a video about insects. It's a simulation of the early universe, a time after the Big Bang when the cosmos transformed from a place of utter darkness to a radiant, light-filled environment. The stunning video is part of a large suite of simulations described in a series of three papers accepted to the Monthly Notices of the Royal Astronomical Society. Created by researchers at the Center for Astrophysics | Harvard & Smithsonian, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and the Max Planck Institute for Astrophysics, the simulations represent a monumental advancement in simulating the formation of the first galaxies and reionization—the process by which neutral hydrogen atoms in space were transformed into positively charged, or ionized, hydrogen, allowing light to spread throughout the universe. The simulated period, known as the epoch of reionization, took place some 13 billion years ago and was challenging to reconstruct, as it involves immensely complicated, chaotic interactions, including those between gravity, gas and radiation, or light. more at link...................... the paper: https://academic.oup.com/mnras/advance-article-abstract/doi/10.1093/mnras/stac713/6553849?login=false The THESAN project: Lyman-α emission and transmission during the Epoch of Reionization Abstract The visibility of high-redshift Lyman-alpha emitting galaxies (LAEs) provides important constraints on galaxy formation processes and the Epoch of Reionization (EoR). However, predicting realistic and representative statistics for comparison with observations represents a significant challenge in the context of large-volume cosmological simulations. The THESAN project offers a unique framework for addressing such limitations by combining state-of-the-art galaxy formation (IllustrisTNG) and dust models with the AREPO-RT radiation-magneto-hydrodynamics solver. In this initial study we present Lyman-alpha centric analysis for the flagship simulation that resolves atomic cooling haloes throughout a (95.5 cMpc)3 region of the Universe. To avoid numerical artifacts we devise a novel method for accurate frequency-dependent line radiative transfer in the presence of continuous Hubble flow, transferable to broader astrophysical applications as well. Our scalable approach highlights the utility of LAEs and red damping-wing transmission as probes of reionization, which reveal nontrivial trends across different galaxies, sightlines, and frequency bands that can be modelled in the framework of covering fractions. In fact, after accounting for environmental factors influencing large-scale ionized bubble formation such as redshift and UV magnitude, the variation across galaxies and sightlines mainly depends on random processes including peculiar velocities and self-shielded systems that strongly impact unfortunate rays more than others. Throughout the EoR local and cosmological optical depths are often greater than or less than unity such that the exp ( − τ) behaviour leads to anisotropic and bimodal transmissivity. Future surveys will benefit by targeting both rare bright objects and Goldilocks zone LAEs to infer the presence of these (un)predictable (dis)advantages.
  19. Just found this...................................... https://phys.org/news/2022-03-jupiter-moon-europa-chaos-terrains.html On Jupiter's moon Europa, 'chaos terrains' could be shuttling oxygen to ocean Salt water within the icy shell of Jupiter's moon Europa could be transporting oxygen into an ice-covered ocean of liquid water where it could potentially help sustain alien life, according to a team of researchers led by The University of Texas at Austin. This theory has been proposed by others, but the researchers put it to the test by building the world's first physics-based computer simulation of the process, with oxygen hitching a ride on salt water under the moon's "chaos terrains," landscapes made up of cracks, ridges and ice blocks that cover a quarter of the icy world. The results show that not only is the transport possible, but that the amount of oxygen brought into Europa's ocean could be on a par with the quantity of oxygen in Earth's oceans today. "Our research puts this process into the realm of the possible," said lead researcher Marc Hesse, a professor at the UT Jackson School of Geosciences Department of Geological Sciences. "It provides a solution to what is considered one of the outstanding problems of the habitability of the Europa subsurface ocean." The study was recently published in the journal Geophysical Research Letters. more at link.................. the paper: https://agupubs.onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/10.1029/2021GL095416 Downward Oxidant Transport Through Europa's Ice Shell by Density-Driven Brine Percolation Abstract Jupiter's moon Europa is thought to have an ocean beneath its ice shell and the habitability of the internal ocean depends on the availability of redox gradients. Downward transport of radiolytic materials produced at the surface through the ice shell sets the flux of oxidants into the ocean. Here, we propose that oxidants are transported through the ice shell by the drainage of near-surface brines formed concurrently with chaotic terrains. We estimate that Europa's porous regolith contains 3.7 × 1014 to 5.6 × 1018 mol (1.2 × 1013 − 1.8 × 1017 kg) of trapped O2. Simulations of coupled melt-migration and eutectic phase behavior show that brines drain before they refreeze, delivering ∼85% of the surface oxidants to the ocean on timescales of 2 × 104 years. From the distribution of chaotic terrains and from Europa's surface age we estimate that brine drainage could deliver O2  to the ocean at rates of 2.0 × 106 to 1.3 × 1010 mol/yr (0.002−13.2 kg/s). Plain Language Summary Some icy moons in the outer solar system likely contain an ocean beneath their ice shells. Jupiter's moon Europa may be especially suitable for life if radiolytic oxidants generated at its surface travel efficiently through the ice. We propose that oxidants can be transported through the ice by drainage of brines generated during the formation of chaotic terrains. These enigmatic surface features are thought to require the formation of large volumes of near-surface brine. We show that the brines drain through the underlying ice before re-freezing and transport oxidants in pulses of melt called “porosity waves.” These pulses may propagate through the ice on timescales of 20,000 years. The rate of oxidant delivery is thus linked to chaotic terrain formation and is correspondingly spatially localized and episodic.
  20. Will it come to this?? 😉
  21. Just heard on the arvo news in Sydney (Friday) that Trump is suing Hillary Clinton over conspiring to rig the 2016 election results. 🤪
  22. Mr Spock was an example, albeit fictitious one to show how in general, the needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few, as any westernised democratic society would understand. What's the last time? I asked you two original philosophical questions, and expected reasonable answers....."Why is that good news? Why do you believe we don't have enough time?" I don't believe either were answered with any sincerity.
