  1. I saw an episode on mythbusters(i know, laugh if you must) where plants actually grew faster and healthier while listening to weeks worth of heavy metal. They tried different kinds of music and isolated the plants from other sounds in the same area. It seems that plants like to rock.
  2. However guys, might i remind you that people do it all the time. It seems like a waste of energy, but.. look for yourself.Wiki.
  3. At some point, this system would need energy to pump more water up there.Consider the amount of water emptied at the bottom vs. amount of rainfall in that region.
  4. Wow, sounds like you've got too many irons in the fire. First off, the military is a bad idea at this point in time. Second, there's nothing wrong with community colleges, but often times it can put a limitation on the kind of job you can get due to accreditation. Have you spoken to any local industries about doing a co-op or just working for them to get experience?
  5. I hope were talking small scale farming here.
  6. Well.. I can think of a million different jobs already. It looks like your leaning torwards the field of engineering. Statistically speaking, engineering jobs are some of the best paying as well as most needed. Engineering has a vast network from biology all the way to computer science. Not everyone that goes to college knows their first year what they want to pursue. For most, it's trial and error. Your first year of college, try signing up for introductory classes to various degrees. These introductory classes can give you insight on the things that truly interest you the most. From there on, things will play out.
  7. The airfoil "pushes the air down" due to the Coanda effect.Wiki
  8. Just imagine how much that would suck if it yielded nothing useful.
  9. It seems to me though, the greatest error resides in measuring the distance between nodes. It's not all that easy to locate exactly where melting first occurred, nor is it precise to measure with a metric ruler.
  10. I'd have to agree with swansont. Despite the loss of hope though,I could see where the charge capacity increase would be beneficial if electric cars become standard.
  11. Sure. You can look back through the announcements forum for old announcements and news about changes on SFN. If you have specific questions you can ask me and I'll try to answer them for you. I've been here for four years, so I've seen quite a bit of SFN's history.

  12. Hello Cap'n. As you can tell, I'm new to this forum. I'm curious about its history and details. Is this information available to registered members?
