  1. I'm sure every system becomes obsolete and fails at one point or another. This doesn't mean their can't be a newer better system though. Also even if our system does fail, and we hit rock bottom. We still have a chance to bounce back from that. Anyways, the subconscious. You do agree that instincts drive people and other animals to do things, correct?
  2. Crash smack dab into reality, you mean when all of our problems become overwhelming to the point we can't fix them? I don't think this is definite, it could go either way. You don't like the educational system? Well I'm beggining my scientific education in psychology to help make a better educational system. I've already made a thread about it but my system would involve emotional therapy, building self esteem, and actually teaching people of their "subconscious." However things take time, Martin Luther King didn't live to see his dream along with many dreamers before him fold out to the way it is now dealing with racial discretions in this country. Our system has lots of flaws, people are crazy, but look how far we have come in only a few thousand revolutions of our planet around the sun. Anyways, the subconscious isn't the problem nor is religion or anything else someone might want to give an excuse for. The problem is our instincts and our unawarness of them. You can't blame instincts either, they have gotten us to where we are today, which is pretty damn far. Their is hope though cladking. Fear is our most primitive emotion, yet were overcoming it with another and that is curiosity. We can overcome hate with love. Their is hope my friend, don't lose it or we may end up in a self fulfilling prophecy.
  3. I started smoking marijuana when I was 12. I have probably induced more tetrahydrocannabinol than most people will in their lives. I made really good grades and had an awesome memory until I started smoking. I was taking advanced math courses from the 4th-7th grade. Then I started hating math and lost my ambition to do things. Although that somewhat could have been teenage hormones. Regardless marijuana has ruined my memory and I think made me somewhat dyslexic, It never really started until after I started smoking but words will jumble up when I read them. I'll say one thing meaning another and won't notice it. I'll be writing and write the same word twice, things like that. Also I used to always remember my dreams, now I never do. Marijuana does do damage to your brain, although I still seem to function well and i'm not a burnout stoner anymore. I don't think its that bad. To answer your question though, yes marijuana has indefinitely done damage to my memory, the other things I would assume were also somewhat due to marijuana.
  4. I'm not saying their was a dinosaur species with intelligence to match that of a Homosapien or even Australopithecus. I'm just open to the idea that under the right evolutionary circumstances a dinosaur could evolve intelligence.
  5. Wrath greed sloth pride lust envy and gluttony. The 7 deadly sins. We have a subconscious, its merely our brains encouraging us to do everything we can to maximize our rate of survival. I agree with you, I don't think their is a "subconscious" I think its our perceptions don't see everything. I don't even think theirs a consciousness, I think we are just starting to become intelligent enough so that we are aware of things. Anyways I think what Frued meant by our subconscious is that its what our brain is telling us to do to survive. Glutton as much as you can so you don't run out of energy. Lust to procreate. Cladking i'm sure you feel that people hear this is their subconscious and they can use it as an excuse, at the end of the day someone who wants an excuse is going to find one. Although I do believe that the Freudian subconscious needs to be updated, psychology is a relatively new science.
  6. If I were a superhero, I would be the inebriator.

  7. Could it be possible that the subconscious, is evidence of us having limited access to our brain? Could the brain possibly store more information than we are aware? I kinda feel like this question has already been proposed and some psychologist has already shown the brain stores more information than our consciousness allows us access to but yeah, any thoughts on this?
  8. Dinosaurs may not have needed intelligence to survive. Although primates don't really need it either... Hey look at us, were part of the primate order. Theirs still primitive primates running around, with a huge intellectual gap between us and them.
  9. Hope. http://news.yahoo.com/asteroid-mining-project-aims-deep-space-colonies-050627126.html;_ylt=An4Se16zdhh9xeF1qAvYvIOHgsgF;_ylu=X3oDMTRlaHBiYnVjBG1pdANUb3BTdG9yeSBTY2llbmNlU0YgU3BhY2VBc3Ryb25vbXlTU0YEcGtnAzk0NDcxMTNlLTQ5MjAtM2Q0OS1iZTFlLWYyNDVmNDFmYmMyMQRwb3MDNARzZWMDdG9wX3N0b3J5BHZlcgNhNmYyY2EyMy02NDY1LTExZTItOTFiMy1kZmIyOWI1YzUxMDI-;_ylg=X3oDMTI1MG9icjRhBGludGwDdXMEbGFuZwNlbi11cwRwc3RhaWQDBHBzdGNhdANzY2llbmNlfHNwYWNlLWFzdHJvbm9teQRwdANzZWN0aW9ucw--;_ylv=3
  10. I like how God knows the future and everything thats going to happen, but still gets pissed off about shit when it happens and kind of floods the world and stuff like that sometimes.

  12. Thats not what i'm trying to argue. What i'm trying to say is off topic anyways so it doesnt matter I guess
  13. yeah.... I didn't say that.
  14. I can't argue that Sam, however I think your misunderstanding me. I'm not saying a being could evolve into pure energy or that stars evolve. I'm saying that evolution is just "transformation" or converting energy into elements through fission like stars do, but in itself transformed. Stars make the elements besides hydrogen and helium I beleive, some 2 types of elements. Thats besides the point, anyways stars make energy into more complex material like elements. These elements eventually make more complex material like organisms. These organisms start to evolve into more complex organisms. Do you see what i'm trying to say now? Evolution is just a more complex conversion in the universe. It makes sense to me atleast XD.
  15. Our brains being able to perceive radiowaves? that would be cool. I think that certain parts of the limbic system, the amygdala in particular will change. The limbic system is basically where our emotions come from, I think the parts of our limbic system that produce the chemical endorphins which make us angry and scared will shrink or be less concentrated. Before we see our brains picking up radio waves atleast.
  16. The kepler telescope has pretty recently been put into action. It is the first telescope put in space who's sole objective is to find earth-like life friendly planets in our galaxy. I like to think that life is just highly transformed and evolved energy.
  17. They don't evolve it, they merely transform it. Okay so its not evolution. I'm kinda of crazy, I think evolution is just transformation "evolved" and life is just highley evolved or "transformed" energy. Ever heard of lee smolins hypoethsis about natural selection through black holes creating universes? Its kinda cool.
  18. Crows are smart, if you grow crops. You learn this right quick. Pesky crows... Anyways I don't know, I think a reptile could become relatively intelligent to us. They would need to hunt as packs, use tools, follow the same evolutionary steps we have. I wouldn't think the size of their brain be much of an issue. I think environment would. There very well could have likely been an intelligent reptile, I mean reptiles ruled the food chain then. They were the food chain. However a cold environment such as the last ice age wouldn't have suited any reptile well. Which might be why their isn't one today. Look at the Civet and the Fossa. Both animals are catlike. Are they really catlike? Or is the shape that a cat has with claws and a tail happen to be shaped by environment and make an expert hunter? Our humanoid shape, I think other types of animals could acheive it. with an intelligence to match.
  19. I'm more worried about corruption in government and economy hindering humanity than our ecological footprint.
  20. Very glad to see this thread. Two different people, having the same dream. This could raise alot of question. I have had the same dream as my mom before. I'm sure alot of people have had similar nightmares. I always heard about the showing up to school in your underwear dream, never had it but I did dream I got on the bus in my underwear once. A universal conscience or something sketchy like that? maybe. Or could it be, could it possibley happen to be that you and I are not so different, that we are the same species. That our brains are so alike that what people say is something like ESP, is actually just 2 very similar brains incurring upon information and leading to the same result. Now just gonna throw this in there. My father died when I was 5, he was shot in the stomache. I had a dream that a rock flew through the windsheild of his truck and hit him in the stomache, woke up. he wasn't in his truck btw although he did drive his truck to where he got shot. Ran to his room, ran to the livingroom. Whole family was their, I aksed where my dad was. My aunt told me he had passed and I asked her if a rock hit his tummey. I was too young to even fully understand what passing away meant. For the longest I rolled this around in my head, finally. I think my subconscious brain may have overheard them talking while I was asleep and I dreamt it. If you think hard and long enough, their is usually a more logical explanation for things. I think were all so much alike that we don't realize because of our perceptions and egos and such. I think our brains interpret information much of the way everyones else does.
  21. I'm writing a science fiction novel about aliens. In my book, the main alien civilization studying life and the universe have categories for different alien species. One of the categories, a tier 5 species is an alien species who has made it off their home planet and is sustaining life in space but due to low resources they start concentrating more on sustaining life than researching and science. Eventually evolving huge eyes due to limiting the amount of light and energy in their ships. Their lungs shrink and evolve to breath in thin air, putting them in a planetary biosphere would be like putting a human under water. They eventually become a shell of their former species however I think humans have a long way to go before we have a limited progress in science.
  22. I've decided to stop shitting myself and pursue science in my strongpoint, psychology. Oh physics and cosmology, i'll come back to you. Education, I'm on it! #can'twaittousemybigimagination

  24. You guys, stop feeding the troll!
  25. What defines life? Does consciousness define life? Stars may not be conscious, however they do exist. They are present. They evolve matter and energy into elements that allow organisms to evolve to the point of being conscious.
