  1. Well yeah the definition of evolution is the change in allele of a species over a period of time. Although labels can narrow peoples vision and be misleading. Things aren't always as they seem. Personally I think Evolution is the answer to life, nothing special or mystical. I'm just a highly evolved body of matter Just because right now we cant necessarily prove where life comes from, doesn't mean it has an answer "larger than life."
  2. Personally I believe that evolution applies not only to biological things but is a law of nature that applies to everything.
  3. Well To be completely honest I think the term coma needs to be narrowed down to some sub-categories. 1. A intense coma is when your brain recieves so much trauma, from what I see ( and i'm not a doctor ) physical force; Like from car wrecks. 2. A chemical coma is when you go into diabetic shock or some other chemical induced coma 3. A comatose like state is when someone isn't in a coma but are in a lower level of consciousness. She is almost out of the hospital and made a full recovery but like I have witnessed my grandma in and out of hospital the past 2 weeks. She had a bleed outside the brain, it was considered a stroke. Although the bleed was from a fall the doctors still said it was basically a stroke. I'm guessing they meant they were going to treat it like one? Anyways they put two drains in her head to relieve the buildup blood inside putting pressure on her brain. The day after her surgery she was conscious and could nod or shake her head. Say uhhh-huu(yes) or uhhh-uhhh(no) and I luhh you (I love you.) The next two days she was unable to open her eyes or really move or do anything, she made some noise but that was about it. Then she could Finally have a little bit of conversation but not understand much and her speech was horrible. A day or two later she could have a full on conversation but would be very forgetful. Day before yesterday she finally got some water and coke to drink then some ice-cream, but the physical therapist said she cant eat yet Because her swallowing isn't at full strength. She was taken out of ICU and ate some yogurt this morning but still can't eat. Her memory is still a little off but her speech is phenomenal compared to how it was, You can barley notice a difference in how she spoke before this whole thing happened. I expect her to be out very soon. Anyways Just from watching her and i spent 6 hours a day at the hospital everyday after her surgery. It really seemed to me like the brain says "Alright body i'm going to deactivate you and stop a lot of my processing to conserve as much energy as can be used into healing the damaged part of me." Does it even sound plausible to you that in some cases of comas or comatose like states that it is self induced and so the brain can heal itself faster or more properly? If a coma was just the brain shutting down then wouldn't it not be able to absorb oxygen in the parts it doesn't use because its "shut-down?"
  4. I fallow up on these things but the link you directed me too, my knowledge is not large enough to fully comprehend that. Personally I think our next big step is learning to harness chemical energy. We do it with solar panels but I'm talking about harnessing chemical energy from fission.
  5. My personal view of the soul is an illusion created from someones conscious. The will to survive is an instinct we have evolved to survive the odds, religion gives meaning to death and a soul or the thought that you wont cease to exist, which is your soul. I'm not saying people fallow religions for an answer to death but I do think it reassures people and makes them feel more content. Leading to a "soul."
  6. Brag about your pears will you? I'll have you know theirs a pear tree on some acreage my family owns that yields soft pears when ripe. Aha!
  7. Check my thread in religion and tell me what your opinion is.

  8. I'm not a conspirasist, I don't think the government is out to get us but this is the only "conspiracy" I believe in. Their was a church before their was Jesus. Christianity was not a religion until after the birth of "Christ." Personally I think the church didn't like Jesus's preaching about God. Jesus spoke of pacifism, truth, equality, and much more wise things. The church had ignorant ways and realized they had to "adopt" Jesus of Nazareth's ways if they were to keep some of their views in the world. They wrote a religious text, the bible. I have read some of the bible, not the whole thing. I'll be honest but the little bit I read out of the bible was enough for me to think its a big contradiction. Theirs tons of wisdom in the bible and an abundance of ignorance. Jesus of Nazareth, to me was a real man. He did not perform miracles or walk on water. He touched peoples hearts and could bring light to a dim situation. Jesus spoke of heresy and was wanted dead. Jesus said god was kind and understanding, this is not what the church thought. Jesus was a very smart man, you cant change peoples views on what they have been raised to believe by being an idiot. He didn't perform miracles, he was an einstein of his time. Whether your a christian or another religion at-least acknowledge the fact that man wrote the Bible, Koran, Torah or other religious text and not god. I'm an agnostic and I think if god exists its something were not going to fully comprehend. Full information on the subject is not attainable with our minds.
  9. I wish the universe was round, then I would believe that gravitational fields are infinite
  10. I mean I know it was about a bong lol but its still engineering! its innovative, never been done before. Why was my thread deleted?
  11. I think we can better come to an agreement with Although the universe has infinite boundary it is finite. Thats how I look at it atleast.
  12. No lol, you are very right iNow. It is not the labels and categories themselves that hinder us, it is our own interpretations. When an ignorant person doesnt understand something, they try to assimilate it most to themselves so they may understand it in the process. Although what their trying to understand is so different that by labeling and categorizing something foreign, they misinterpret it. Think about the cultural difference between middle eastern muslims and americans. Theirs words in arabic that dont even translate to english and vise versa. Their views on modesty are different than ours. Men and women cover their bodies not just women. They believe that the way people look at eachother is not pure like the way god looks at something. That is why they are adamant about their modesty. Our labels and categories misinterpet these things. I'll reiterate OUR. Like you said, its not the labels and categories themselves. It is our interpretations of such.
  13. Marijuana is not completley alien to the brain, some compounds found in cannabinols are also found produced naturally in the human brain. Or atleast i read that somewhere, might not be true. I don't remember where I read this so yeah don't quote me lol.
  14. In my opinion. Racism is actually culturalism, the ignorant are blind. LABELS and CATEGORIES, tools of the trade for the ones who aren't content with not understanding or having knowledge of.
  15. life is what you make it
  16. the fact that we havent made contact inspires me to think that their is intelligent life out their
  17. Telling people to stop debating wasn't personally directed towards you by the way, hope you didn't take offense.

  18. Hey you never game me any references? You seem more knowledgeable than the farmers I have gotten information from. I really would like to know more on the subject matter dealing with GM's genes and monstanto's patents.

  19. Emotions are what drives us to do everything. Without them, we probably wouldn't be motivated to do anything. Although I think what bill was trying to say is that some people let their emotions get the best of them. Sometimes anger can cloud your judgement and make you act irrational.
  20. Don't get so defensive their scooter.
  21. Regardless of whether or not this is a possible problem, it wouldn't hurt to devise a emergency plan incase this problem arose. Why don't you guys stop trying to prove eachother wrong and devise some methods we could use to stop this problem if it hypothetically happened?
  22. Comas are still somewhat a mystery in the medical field. Our brains go through trauma and we cant wake up sometimes for weeks even years sometimes. Is it possible that a coma is self-induced and a way for the brain to conserve all of the body's energy into healing the damaged brain? Think of it this way, you exert a lot of energy moving around and with your brain processing information right? So when your brain gets damaged it tries to make the amount of energy you wouldn't use healing your brain minimal. I'm just an 18 year old high-school dropout, no need to get mad if I'm wrong. Just throwing something out their to think about.
  23. Well I'm in the process of developing a few theories. One of them involving this stuff, you really wrote a book? If you know much about emotions/instincts and the evolution/influence of them, I could really use your help Binyamin Tsadik.
  24. I respect your opinion, it has a good argument. Although to answer the original posters question i believe genetics has everything to do with how physically strong and resilient someone is. To your argument i would like to bring a few things to the table. Evolution being the largest thing and the definition of life. What is evolution really? The changes of a species for an increment of time? Or could their be something much larger to the picture than the dictionary implies. Personally I think I'm a big highly evolved ball of matter. What defines life, consciousness? Are trees conscious, probably not. Is the sea squirt still alive after it eats its own brain? Are we really that much more complicated than a rock?
  25. What is an illusion other than something you perceive to be a little different than it actually is? I never said our illusions were bad, just saying their illusions and sometimes we forget that. Most people are oblivious too it.
