What about male mammals that will fight to the death for breeding rights, but before doing so makes a very careful assessment of the risks? aguy2

The site you cite says, "a tree which is otherwise unidentified." It agrees with mine. What is the problem? aguy2

A lot of good teams have been looking for a good long time and they have not come up with 'zip'. Personally I think 'microtubules' are the next best candidate. aguy2

What? I would ask you to show were I implied any such thing, but I would be giving you an impossible task. I placed memories, thoughts, and consciousness on a sliding scale of 'findability'. With the hows and wheres of discrete memories being that which should be the easiest to find and concrete evidence of how consciousness works being the hardest to find. We are collectively batting zero on how and where memories exist. "If we can not do the easy, how can we expect to do the hard?" aguy2

Why is there no forum for (insert field here)?
aguy2 replied to Sayonara's topic in Suggestions, Comments and Support
I am contending that 'military science' is an emergent 'soft science' on a par with the other social sciences, and that 'soft science' oft times uses historical monographs as a starting point for scientific investigations. aguy2 -
We can't even find things like 'memories', that would seem to be good canidates for being 'findable', let alone things like thoughts or consciousness. aguy2

As far as I know there is no observational evidence that 'behavior' is encoded in the genenome. There is little doubt that instinctive behaviors seem to 'parallel' genetic inheritance, but no evidence of codes - hence the mystery. aguy2

Wasn't his original 'causa bella' something more about non-Muslim military forces being to close to Mecca/Medina? aguy2

and as a consequence of the unanswerability of the question, "What is Normal/Natural Human Behavior?", reverse and I agreed to reduce the question to the more managable, "What behavior separates us from the animals?" Do you agree? aguy2
-
By "Agree." did you agree that we should reduce the question to a more managable, "What behavior separates us from the animals?" Sorry reverse, but I checked with my Strong's and there is no mention of of an apple in Genesis. If you are going to cite a 'primary document', it might be a good idea to actually read the document before citing it. In doing your work for you I did find something that might to seen to pertain to the question at hand, which of course you remember as being, "What behavior separates us from the animals?" Namely Gen.2:19 aguy2

(1) Other than the fact that you still neglected to denote the question with an appropriate mark, I think we finally have a question that might go some place. (2) Where in Genesis? aguy2

One would want start the inquiry with made to order laboratory recreations of the event and its consequences. I wouldn't think of using a real artifact till there where good reason to believe that useful information could be retrived. aguy2

What is the behavior of the masses? If you want to make up your own definition of the term 'normal' and call it the 'behavior of the masses', the above would be a restatement of the question at hand. Do you want to try and answer this question? aguy2
-
What is 'Normal' Human Behavior? Ambiguities are to questions as is cursing is in church. Lets just say I cleaned the question (?) up a little. Do you think we should stick another question mark in there someplace? aguy2

My background is history (military), soc, and psych, so I would have to take your word on it. What would this 'etching' need in terms of resources? Of course, as a historian, what I would really like would be something like a carrier wave or resonance that sounded like, "Merde!", but even a "Clang" from the past would make the press and open doors. aguy2

I would contend that they used 'Preditors' because the tribal loyalities of the area in question would preclude trying to serve a search warrant with anything less than a good regiment that was willing to take causualties. Do you want to play social science word games with me? aguy2

reverse, Professionals like Ophiolite never use the terms 'natural' and 'unnatural', because of the same problems we are experiencing. Professionals use 'normal', 'abnormal' in lieu. Why don't we act like pros and rephrase the question to those terms? If we don't ask good questions we can't expect good answers. aguy2

Small Comets, Dr Louis Frank, & Water in Space
aguy2 replied to John L's topic in Astronomy and Cosmology
As far as being a high priority risk to spacecraft, this site from Franks university discounts it. http://smallcomets.physics.uiowa.edu/www/faq.htmlx This site again has that 1999 cutoff. I have a hunch Franks and the people he was scrabbling with needed to start working as a team again, and put the 'snowball' thing on back burner. They are making news as a team again with imaging of IO, I think. Personally, I find the prospects of almost 'made to order' interstellar food/fuel cometary bodies, to be of more interest. aguy2 -
Sorry, Reverse's question (?) way back in post 11. aguy2

The tools found in association with the fossil evidence are called 'cultural artifacts'. Culture predates city building (civilization). Nonetheless, I like the concept of there being 'cultural cages' that tend to induce stress in their occupants. aguy2
