Underwater intelligence, evolution and technology.
sunshaker replied to CasualKilla's topic in Biology
So it would not then be a planet, So you must mean something like fluidic space species 8472, one of my favourite species http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Species_8472 using telepathy and bioships. -
Underwater intelligence, evolution and technology.

I expect with their high intelligence they would create chimneys and vents to solve this problem. If there is a water world there will be "land" underwater(seabed), So an intelligent species would understand how to us this either by digging or natural caverns. We are not an underwater species but we exploit the oceans, Does that mean we are no longer ground dwellers? Intelligence allows you to adapt and use what is around you. -

With an higher enough intelligence i do not see to much of a problem, I expect there would be many underwater caverns with "dry land", these could be enlarged and perhaps even farmed, Seaweeds could be dried as a fuel source for fire. So as long as these species could move on land they could realistically do anything we could in time and even leave their world. -
"DON'T KNOW" great answer thread finished. I was only saying unless that is all "serious disabled" wants great, but if he wanted peoples thoughts on what caused the big bang he perhaps should have put it in speculation. I do not like your condescending "ignorance of the situation" remark, I am not in ignorance of the situation. But do like to think on possibilities instead of don't know i have not been told yet.
-
Now if this was in speculation (perhaps where it should be), I may say that we caused the "big bang", by "we" I mean CERN, We put a lot of energy into these particle collisions, which then decay, where do they decay to? If there are other dimensions which cern will be looking for perhaps each of these decay paths are "big bangs" and we are the result of our own creation(chicken/egg) which came first?
-
I have not read the whole thread so don't know if this as been posted, Computer generated math proof is to large for humans to check Will we soon reach this time when the only ones who understand the math are the computers, what will we do then? give up? Or do we only then look for new mediums to explore these frontiers of science?

Perhaps at this moment in our understanding, but it seems that the main problem is an object gains mass at higher speeds so at the speed of c an object would have infinite mass needing infinite energy to move an object at c. But we do not yet fully understand "mass", does the "higgs field" give mass to a particle/object, and I know we do not fully understand this field, and if we ever do we may be able to prevent said object interacting with field so no gain in mass ruling out this law of c. Like I said we are a young race just beginning to understand our universe.
-
To "our knowledge" nothing can go faster than c, But we are a young race, If there are races out there millions or billions of years older than us I am certeain they would have found a way around this speed limit, I have no doubt we will. Perhaps extra dimensions may be a way around this as they seem more and more likely to exist. Maybe our universe is like Dr Who's tardis larger on the inside than the outside, and perhaps one day we will be able to step outside this dimension and step back in anywhere any time in the universe.

I have brought a few domain names which i think may do well in the future like: best wireless chargers.com hyperbolic meta materials.com & quantum navigation systems.com and a few to do with bitcoin which i have gave up on. I thought it may be worth getting in on buying a few for the moon. (i watched about a few companies who where looking to freight materials to the moon) these 4 are available, I will only buy 1or2 which would you think will be best in the long run. freight or freighters? a/ moon freighters.com b/ luna freighters.com c/ moon freight.com d/ luna freight.com

I thought I was staying with virgin media but sky have just phoned and reduced their package to £40 and the first 3 months free. Now i await virgins next call perhaps they may pay me.
-
I have been with virgin media for 7 years paying £70 for large tv package 50 meg broadband and phone line(no films). I decided to go to sky as they were offering a deal for a year £47.50 "large tv package +all film chanels 16meg broadband and phone line, With this i would have saved £23.50 a month. The change was going to happen tomorrow, Virgin just phoned me and offered me large tv plus all film channels 150 meg broadband and free phone line for the same price £47.50. Looks like I am staying with virgin, Sometimes it is worth threatening to leave to get the best deals from these providers

once we are able to obtain vast amounts of helium 3 this technology becomes worth investing in, And would soon become the major energy source. Helion Energy now has a Helium 3 fuel cycle for its magneto-inertial fusion processhttp://www.helionenergy.com/?page_id=199 There are many companies out there now investing in ways to use helium 3 as a fuel, By the time we start shipping helium3 back to earth there will be many companies ready and waiting.

I don't think it will make alot of difference, I believe earth gains about 100 tons of mass each day from dust/meteorites, unsure about what the moon gains but without a protective atmosphere/magnetic fields, I would expect it to be higher than earth per volume of surface area. Which would offset what is mined to some degree.
-
I watched a program on moon mining yesterday, about private companies planning to mine the moon(working at moment with nasa) also that china seems to be the ones who are going to get there first.(sooner than we think). They where saying about helium 3 which could solve earths energy problems and fuel earth for thousands of years, plus many minerals not found on earth are in abundance on the moon. It seems to me which ever company/country that is able to mine the moon first will basically become the greatest power on earth, controlling a wealth in fuel/minerals/water, I cannot see a good outcome that would suit everyone, Perhaps a 50% tax on profits that go into a joint earth fund to end poverty. So how would you get mining rights ? or should there be mining rights? One company that seems to be doing alright selling parcels of land on the moon/planets. http://lunarembassy.com/#!prettyPhoto Perhaps i will set up a business where these individuals(easily parted from their money) who have brought these parcels of land can register with me for a "small fee" to manage their land.

What is recessus pubicus?
sunshaker replied to The Dragon Toad's topic in Anatomy, Physiology and Neuroscience
I am not quite sure what you are looking for, I suppose you have tried but I find google images can normally find something. https://www.google.co.uk/search?q=recessus+pubicus&safe=off&sa=X&biw=1280&bih=911&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&ei=Y8sGVdxzwfFQwJqCsAU&ved=0CEEQ7Ak#safe=off&tbm=isch&q=+pubic+recess+of+ischoanal+fossa&imgdii=_&imgrc=ASYhiyYrbv5peM%253A%3BgtRu-oWwLOZEeM%3Bhttp%253A%252F%252Fo.quizlet.com%252FWQ2D-dmi7HK6Qy6dL0nOZw_m.png%3Bhttp%253A%252F%252Fquizlet.com%252F28178431%252Fanatomy-perineum-flash-cards%252F%3B240%3B180 -
Can a person freeze themselves to death by thought?
sunshaker replied to LisaLiel's topic in The Lounge
We often say the thought of something leaves me cold. I must admit the thought of being locked in a freezer is not a warming thought. I wonder when we shudder in expectation of something unpleasant if our body temperature drops? -
Is the Government and the Agencies keeping genetic secrets from us?
sunshaker replied to Angel44709's topic in Genetics
I have looked for this paper but cannot yet find it(it was a few years back) it contained details that where over my head, Just came across this, which also talks about crossing human/tardigrades dna. As we know radiation/space is harmful to humans and this genetic joining of tardigrades/human dna would bring great benefits to space travel, also for the human race as an whole from protect from cosmic radiation, So yes I believe these sort of experiments are going on in secret behind closed doors. Protecting human DNA agains radiation using genes from tardigradeshttp://www.scribd.com/doc/241380276/Poster-Protecting-human-DNA-agains-radiation-using-genes-from-tardigrades#scribd -
I think I understand where cixe is coming from, also everybody elses confusion, it can be hard to understand others thoughts and methods/shorthand without proper explanations, I agree with Phi for alls quote "We attack ideas here, not people. And we attack ideas to make them better, stronger, more trustworthy". This makes us try harder to form our ideas so others may understand, and allow us to take these ideas to the next level. I enjoy your threads cixes/6's(and those of a few others who have now sadly been banned), but it seems you have to learn to take time to explain to others what they do not understand about your ideas, then you can move on. I agree sometimes it is hard to take ideas that we understand in our own heads and put them to words others can understand. Patience and time and questioning from others helps in the long run TO SOLIDIFY these ideas we have, and turn them into a model all can understand(whether they are agreed with or not) it can be frustrating but no malice is meant .

Is the Government and the Agencies keeping genetic secrets from us?
sunshaker replied to Angel44709's topic in Genetics
I did read somewhere once about the American government experimenting with human dna and the dna of tardigrades, As tardigrades can survive in a vacuum and can survive ionizing radiation at doses hundreds of times higher than the lethal dose for a human, And can also go without food for 10years. .http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tardigrade It was something to do with long range space travel. Governments have always experimented in secret and always will. -
Dr Martin said, "cosmic strangelets" would have destroyed earth, wiki says cosmic strangelets would not destroy earth. RHIC "I hope we find these strangelets, as it would be extremely interesting," says Dr Sevior. So just because RHIC did not find these strangelets(at much lower energy levels than at Cern) does not mean we will not find them when Cern turns up the power this year. And they will be looking for them. However remote there is still a chance that if these strangelets are produced they could destroy earth. We do not understand strangelets enough, to me it is like playing russian roulette with Earth. I think that we may of created our universe with an experiment like this chicken/egg paradox. I just wondered who decides in the science community to put Earth at risk however small that risk is. I am not against Cern, I follow most of what comes out of there, I am eagerly looking forward to the start up. And hopefully still here to look at the new data.

I have heard about the possibilities of mini black holes being created at cern, just came across this about killer stranglets I had a look on wiki to see what was said about these particles http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Strangelet Dr Martin Sevoir Atlas detector research scientist "I'm not the least bit concerned because Earth and other planets have been bombarded by extremely high energy cosmic rays, and if this strange matter does convert ordinary matter into strangelets then we would have already been destroyed billions of years ago. But then wiki says This is not a concern for strangelets in cosmic rays because they are produced far from Earth and have had time to decay to their ground state, which is predicted by most models to be positively charged, so they are electrostatically repelled by nuclei, and would rarely merge with them.[15][16] But high-energy collisions could produce negatively charged strangelet states which live long enough to interact with the nuclei of ordinary matter.[17] Fools rush in So if stranglets from cosmic rays decay before reaching earth, what Dr Sevoir said that we would already be destroyed is incorrect, So theorectically some time in april we may be a large lump of strange matter?.

I watched this on horizon yesterday, Planck analysis saying it was nearly 75-100% certain to be dust, But if there are gravitational waves, wouldnt the dust only highlight these waves? We use smoke to see aerodynamics in a wind tunnel/or dyes in water to see currents, surely the dust would show up these waves better than without dust?

I understand what you say, I am still trying to work out the details. As you say the rest mass of a proton is 0.938Gev, I am looking at this as a system (JOINING OF TABLES/TOP QUARKS) From what I understand when you add energy to a system, the rest mass of the system increases while the rest mass of individual particles does not change, I believe it is the joining of these tables which add kinetic energy to the system that gives the top quarks the mass of 173gev. Which I have taken as 1 gev per proton instead of rest mass of 0.938, If a proton had 1gev before joining of these tables/quarks the kinetic energy produced by this joining would put it passed the173GEV of top quarks, I believe maybe because how most periodic tables are set out that we do not look at it as a "complete system/entity" but as individual elements. I know there is much yet to work out about mass at rest or in acceleration and this still all relies on there being a possible 172 chemical elements.
