  1. That is what they said when the zero was invented. This is like the invention of zero because no one ever thought about the FULL SET containing every conceivable concept imaginable even its contrary and negation. This FULL SET is the only one that exists because even if it doesn't it does because all contradictions are completely acceptable. The relationship between infinity and contradictions is the ultimate theory of everything physics is looking for. This problem is thus solved.
  2. What I want to do is the simplest possible connection using modems and phone lines. Since Windows XP has these connection wizards that seem to set up most of what I need, what puzzles me is: 1) When the phone rings at the local PC and I pick it up, is the local PC ready to negotiate with the remote one ? Is it enough to just pick up the phone and let the remote PC send it's modem commands to the local one ? I can hear the modems negotiating so I think it is working...... 2) Since I am using "remote connection" from remote PC to the local PC telephone number like any internet access, I guess that is where I enter username and password. I used the windows connection wizard to create a simple new connection to a remote computer through the modem, and this also seems to be working... 3) what applications will pop up on the remote PC after I log in, and how do I know if it is logged in ? This is what I can't figure out. If the 2 PCs simply connected do I need some other application to get the local files from remote ?
  3. I have the modems. From what I read, you just need the two modems and the phone line. No internet access is necessary since it is just a connection between the 2 PCs (also it seems that no telnts or other are needed). I am using TCP/IP over PPP on both and used the connection wizards, so the local PC has a connection that accepts incoming connections and the remote has a connection (like the typical internet access ones over 56K) where the phone number is the local PCs and the username and password is the one chosen at the local during connection wizard. It seems logical, the only thing I don't get is what application pops up after the 2 PCs negotiate the connection, this isn't explained anywhere.......
  4. I want to try to connect to my local PC from a remote location through the telephone. So on the local PC, I go about creating a new connection (Windows XP) that accepts "incoming calls" and a given guest user that I will be when I call from the remote site. It seems to work somewhat (I hear the modem work when I call the phone number to which my local PC is connected to after I pick up the phone) but I don't undestand: 1) When the phone rings at the local PC and I pick it up, is the local PC ready to negotiate with the remote one ? 1) will I be given a kind of login screen on the remote PC when I dial in to enter my guest username and password? 2) what applications will pop up on the remote PC after I log in ? This is a bit confusing, because it is not well explained on the internet
  5. Given no particular reply against this theory, then this theory is correct and proven. The infinite-infinite universe is the ultimate theory of everything that physics is looking for. You just have to relate infinity with the concept of contradictions and all is explained. The theory is true even if it is false because "infinite concepts" allows every mechanism and manipulation even the complete contradictory theory of existence sustained by non existence or opposites sustaining each other etc. The FULL SET is that set containing every conceivable concept and reasoning possible and impossible, creating an infinite universe not only in extension (time and space) but as number of concepts (computer planet made up of chips, green martians etc). Remember all contradictions reign.
  6. Is a p2p internetwork a new kind of internet ? Here is an interesting problem I came across and sent in another forum. There are some responses, but it is intruiging. This may be a new internet invention, I am really not sure because I don't know the technology well. I have a question regarding peer to peer networks. I saw that if you have a p2p client like emule or imesh you can access all the information shared on that particular client's network. So you can access imesh's network if you have imesh OR emule's network if you have emule. But these two distinct networks are seperated and not communicating. So if I find a song on emule, that song is not being shared on imesh. Why not just INTERCONNECT ALL THE P2P NETWORKS TOGETHER so as to have all their contents shared by all the p2p networks? And maybe connect all those p2p networks to some normal internet websites? Thanks for any suggestions ....... The two networks use disparate protocols, and so cannot be just "tied" together. You could write a client which participates on both networks, offering the same files on both, but that's the best you could do to tie them together. Emule and Imesh are but two of many existing p2p (application layer) protocols used by corresponding p2p programs. So even if you managed to write clients that understand the protocol of both kinds of programs, there are too many other existing protocols to create a kind of unified p2p internet. As long as there is competition among p2p products, different protocols will continue to exist that do not cooperate with each other. So then I am right! This would be A NEW INTERNET INVENTION or application! I mean finding a way of internetworking all the p2p networks could lead to a further huge extension of the internet and could increase many times its power. With millions of computers sharing files and being able to cross the boundaries of the various proprietary p2p networks creating a peer to peer internetwork could really be an interesting thing! I imagine that within an individual PC you could have a few p2p clients operating and creating a kind of bridge - router application amongst them. The these bridges could diffuse amongst all the users and you could end up with a peer to peer internetwork.
  7. What I wanted to say is for example a string of 10 bits has 2^10 combinations, so a dvd has 40 billion bits (by saying 4 billion bytes or 4 billion times 8 bits), so all the combinations of 40 billion bits is 2 to the 40 billion or about 2^(40x10^9) or 2^(10^11) APPROXIMATELY give and take an exponent since at this large number who cares anymore (it is really very large). If you could see each combination, each one is a different film. So the actions that take place in the film are just an illusion so there is no cause and effect just a given combination. It is like discovering the zero. No one ever thought of the FULL SET that contains all possible concepts conceivable.
  8. This thread is proposing the infinite-infinite universe where all conceivable possibilities exist within our infinite universe. This theory completely allows any contradiction within it's terms because that would be just another possibility (or combination) so a red planet exists and doesn't exist at the same time. Anyways the theory is COMPLETELY CONTRADICTORY and makes no attempt as to limit the contradictions. IF every conceivable idea, concept, matter, universe, planet etc. exists then there is no need for any explanations of anything since everything is just a given combination from the infinite amount of combinations. You need to explain something if there is only one possible path within a multitude, but in the infinite-infinite universe all the paths are simultaneously present including no paths and only a few (there goes the contradicton which is acceptable). This is somewhat an aesthetical view of the universe. The theory of the infinite-infinite universe is the theory where everything including all contradictions are present and acceptable. I also want to add that you must be careful as to what you are referring the infinite to. If you are referring to an infinite universe in space extension or time extension but within the physical laws of our universe as known so far, then all these weird possibilities (planet of elephants) are most likely not possible. But if you refer to an infinite universe in terms of "possibilities", "concepts", "laws of physics", "combinations" in other words an infinite universe in terms of all possible "concepts" conceivable, then you are no longer dealing with the realm of physics but metaphysics and philosophy and thus the infinite-infinite universe with all its acceptable contradictions. This is the ultimate theory. The grand unified of physics etc. because by accepting an infinite universe in all possible concepts like combinatorial, conceptual etc. (therefore not only in dimensions or time) you automatically get everything. Therefore for example the presence of life in one slice of the universe is brought about through the theory of evolution, in another it just pops out all done out of nowhere, because it is just another conceptual combination. Actually if you think of how many quirk chances have to be met for us humans here to communicate through the net using are traditional scientific explanations, this confirms the theory. There are just too many combination of elements and chemical reactions and evolutions of mankind to possibly be done in a few billion years. Why does our planet have just the right amount of metals and extractable just in the right combination for humans? How did humans even possibly develope science when we know that in primitive societies no one has any kind of individuality or inventiveness because peer pressure of the group is extremely high, so even science is a really long shot quirk chance. It is like trying to explain the appearance of a color TV on mars without the humans. But if you accept the infinite-infinite universe it is all explained as being just another combination. It is like trying to explain how a color TV evolved on mars from scratch. You could probably invent some insanely impobable combination of events that ultimately bring you your TV but it is less far out to just accept an infinite-infinite universe where it is all present. Explanations are just washed away by the shear number of combinations. Cause and effect is just one possible mechanism amongst an infinite combination of inventions of mechanisms. Sooner or later somewhere in our quest for the ultimate you will have to deal with contradictions. So this theory makes no attempt to avoid them but considers them an integral part since infinity contains all including contradictory elements. It is hard to graps but this is the ultimate last theory. All explanations are an aesthetical device. Amongst the infinite combination of universes there is a universe where being alive is the same as being dead etc. We are only in one particular combination where this is not true. In our local slice the laws of physics are operating. Of course there are all kinds of permutations and you can envision a slice that is half like our universe and half like one where alive and dead is the same etc. We can't grasp all the combinations and the contradictions, but if the universe is infinite conceptually, then the infinite-infinite universe is the final theory. What may be confusing is the word "infinite". I am referring to infinity "conceptually", that is every possible idea, implementation mechanism etc. along with infinite extension in space or time. But it is maybe better to imagine a universe of all possible "possibilities" or all possible "concepts" more then extensions. That is why the theory doesn't challenge any of our science, it is just a superset of universes with along all imaginable concepts. It is different from the parallel universe theories because they are somehow tied up with our physics, but this is a superset of all possible physics. I would say that it is more a philosophical and metaphysical idea and cannot be proved scientifically in any way I think. As an analogy it is like when they discovered the zero. No one noticed that there could be an entity that is zero. This is similar in that this theory proposes a kind of totally full set of every conceivable idea, possibility etc. It is even hard to explain exactly because it is infinite exactly in the "conceptual" sense. Cause and effect is just an aesthetical choice. Must engage in philosophical thought which is not practical. The set of all combinations has many contradictory implications and can be used to enhance our view of the limits of thought. If every combination is present, explanations have no sense because any event that has an aesthetical view of cause and effect is just a frozen combination just like a video dvd is a frozen combination of bits. So the set of all the combination of 40,000,000,000 bits (about 2^(10^11)) can contain all the possible films imaginable, so the set of all combinations of anything can be anything and contain anything. The events within a film don't really have a cause and effect but "aesthetically appear to" so within the FULL SET nothing needs explanations. OF course all contradictions reign......
  9. What pecentage of the population would you imagine pull off more than 40 hours a week in America? In my suburb south NJ, many people I know don't seem to do that much extra time. Is it just that I don't notice or is it real? Also I read of people doing like 12 to 14 hours a day. Are they serious? If you are working intense and concentrated I can't figure how long anyone can last. I think they are exaggerating or wasting alot of hours "not intense" to add them up....
  10. From those I know and see most work about 8 hours, 5 days a week. But I read on the internet that alot of americans work 50 hours or more a week. Is this really true or is it only a small portion of the population? Thanks for any real life data!
  11. They are actually worse. This is another case where "progress" is false and we actually loose functionality, quality or both because the industry exploits the fact that people are stupid. CRT monitors have reached a very high level of perfection (study DOT PITCH for example), the monitor I am writing with is 5 years old and has a quality and image that is light years ahead of any plasma, or lcd display and it would even cost less than a 100 dollars. But the industry can't make much money on them anymore so they are shoving down everyones thoat all the CRAPPY flat screens that have horrible quality from all the technical points of view. Another example of we going backwards instead of forwards, like the fact that tone controls are getting rarer to find on stereos.
  12. I would add two points to this thread. 1) Complexity as we percieve it is probably just an "aesthetical" perception on our behalf. I mean just because something is geatly complex and intricate like brains and molecular biology doesn't give it any special status. For nature it has the same status of water or a vacuum. We humans assign a great status to complexity but in nature it doesn't mean absolutely nothing. We assign this status because we see ourselves as "complex" and are biased by this, but this is just our "aesthetical" bias towards ourselves, our mind assigns great importance to things which are indifferent from natures point of view. A microchip has the same value as a rock for nature. 2) Evolution is no longer operating for the human race, we now directly manipulate nature according to our mind, so we are now outside the blind forces of evolution.
  13. A possible explanation could be that the universe isn't just 10 billion years old but much much older like 10^10000 years old or so, so that the combinations could be reached. I think that evolution as described is partially right but there are big gaps. It would seem that we were "built" by some alien race, like we build color TVs. You couldn't ever discover how color TVs evolved alone without putting in man. So maybe we are looking at the end result like the TV without the human race. Like seeing only color TVs on mars and trying to figure out how they "evolved". Even small questons are hard to answer, like how is it that we can extract metals and just the right combination and amounts of metals are on our planet? (presence of life doesn't imply metals) How did people even start thinking out of their group to develope science? There are alot of instances where primitive populations live and are still living that have never evolved past their group tribe and religion (group presure is virtually infinite, so originality is way too much of a long shot). In the end we will reach a wall in all our explanations and concepts because we will finally discover that we are within an "infinite-infinite universe" where every conceivable combination of concepts, matter, thoughts, contradictions etc. are all present. That is the only explanation for our presence here as humans. The number of quirk chances for all the combinations of elements that compose our life are so mind boggling large that in NO WAY can there ever be a physical explanation. How do you explain that on this single planet just the right amount of metals, and chemical elements and human reasoning and science etc. are present to allow us to evolve naturally to the point we are able to communicate with chips and networks etc. The complexity of our "evolution" is too great to be possibly explained as one given case, therefore we are one case in an infinte all being present as within an "INFINITE-INFINTE UNIVERSE". Just one combination where a person started to think outside his group culture within primitive societies is extremely low. If the person didn't think outside his group culture there would have been no science!

  15. You are correct and this is the theory of the infinite-infinite universe where everything including all contradictions are present and acceptable.

  17. I guess the more stringent and fundamental parts of the code are OK. But in general software is way too fickle to be considered an engineering discipline. And the amazing thing is they use the same awkward, arbitrary process and bug filled code to control airlines and spacecraft and every now and then some bug becomes extremely expensive like with the Ariane rocket some years ago, cost more than a billion dollars because they made a mistake I think between a string and a numeric (or something like that). The process of creating software and the methods are still very archaic, I think it will really take decades for it to become really precise.
  18. I was reading of how many problems car companies are having with the software they put in their luxury cars (most makes, german , japanese). People can't start their car, etc. and it stays in service for a long time because of software bugs. The microprocessors they introduced to control alot of things in the modern luxury cars IS NOT A GOOD IDEA. Software is still designed like an art, it hasn't acquired all the real engineering precision of mechanics etc. Before putting software in cars, they should design it with top notch precision, and according to a very strict engineering process just like engines are made. This method of designing software must still come of age, therefore they should use a minimum amount of code and wait about 50 years when a real ENGINEERING METHOD of designing software becomes available.
  19. As the chinese guy said, it doesn't matter if the cat is black or red as long as it gets the mouse! So the wealth in the US trickles down the social ladder and everyone kind of gets a bite. So more people are well off , and you get closer to complete social wealth. If you need another 200 years of harsh capitalism to reach complete universal wealth so be it , the end will be communism (maybe?).
  20. If any communism will ever come to age it will start in the USA, since that is the most advanced country along the road of capitalism according to Marxist theory. Given the high standard of living and low prices of many goods and greater affordability of housing compared to most of the world the US is aready somewhat of a communist nation.
  21. Lets not be extremists in our views. I said abolution of much work, but not all and anyways there is no contradiction between wanting to work more within an advanced society, you just would not really be doing it "against" another person or because you are forced to pay an enormous rent (like in most of the western world now) but because you like to. That is fine! Open source software developers "work for free" and some work alot more than microsoft programmers that work for a "career". The concept of work is a gray concept, if you want to build a home competely by hand, do it, you are free. It would not be you are "not allowed to work" you may and most would anyways because it would be interesting etc. I think you could more realistically imagine "working less" like in the scandinavian countries, which are by the way richer than americans who work their butts off. Hippie movements failed because human nature evolves more slowly than their political theory. We may reach a commune society or maybe not. I don't know.
  22. A little known corollary of marxist (or communistic theories) is that what man strives for is the abolition of much work to then concentrate on the creative, artistical or philosophical aspects of life. So I would suppose that not as ghosts but as artists , scientists experimenters etc. would be our destiny. Anyways some small part of this is already present today, look at the popularity of video games, movies etc. And the time for work has somewhat decreased, if it did increase in the US (not much in other countries) is because of a cultural guilt complex, and because the US is generally reactionary and the companies have no idea how to grant the favor of one against the other so they force you to make believe you are working insane hours when you're mostly just wasting time as much office work today is really ghost like. I think the hippie movements kind of came close to communism but they failed because they couldn't deal with the open couple concept and jealousy made them fight etc.
  23. You may be right. If humanity doesn't evolve any further and capitalism is the last system then we may very well end up evolving backwards towards the dark ages as I have exposed in another post right on this forum. I am also thinking in terms of 100 or 1000 years, and also in terms of the "technological singularity" theories where we should reach a point where everything changes anyways through trillions of computers, genetic engineered brains, smarter than man robots etc. I am putting the "advanced society" concept within the framework of science fiction. Actually communism is a kind of science fiction.
  24. The infinite-infinite theory of the universe is the ultimate theory of everything. Nothing needs to be explained because every conceivable thing is present, every combination so there is no longer any need for any explanation of anything. The final grand theory of unification has been achieved. An explanation is necessary if you must figure out why a given phenomena is in a given way instead of another. But since the universe contains everything imaginable you are just looking at one particular example of a phenomena. The opposite is also true elsewhere and so are all contradictions. It is almost an aesthetical explanation of the everything. Anyways if you think it is so easy to evolve according to your old physical theories look at mars, it is a long shot to imagine it can reach a point of having color tvs present on its surface!
  25. Metaphysics is KING. In the end we will reach a wall in all our explanations and concepts because we will finally discover that we are within an "infinite-infinite universe" where every conceivable combination of concepts, matter, thoughts, contradictions etc. are all present. That is the only explanation for our presence here as humans.
