  1. Actually, it is convergent. Correct me if I am wrong studiot. Because the series doesn't go off to infinity and simply results to 1, it converges on the value 1.
  2. I don't get why people obsess over that one mistake.
  3. It's less about time and more about the amount of steps required to get to the end of the algoithm
  4. Limits play a role in calculus because of what role they play in determining the derivative(the tangent of a curve) or other equations that originally would involve being undefined(i.e, having a denominator of 0). How they work with derivatives is given by the following equation(sorry if an equation is being used). The idea here is you have a secant line and the point is to result in having a tangent line. This involves the variable approaching 0. Here is a graph below to demonstrate what it essentially is. Let me break down the equation for you. If you look at the top part, you will notice that it is f(x+h)+f(x). This is part of the definition of secant line, which is simply the change in y over the change in x. Of course, this only gets the slope of the SECANT line, not the tangent line. Limits become important in finding the tangent line because the limit is used to find what the slope of the tangent line will be AT that particular point x instead of between the two points. As the change in x approach 0, the secant line becomes the tangent line. If you were to analyze this without the use of calculus, you would realize that the regular equation, the change in y over the change in x, would not work because if there is no change in x, there is no change in y. This means it would be 0/0, which is not a good thing to get in Mathematics. Integrals are significant not only because they are the result of the anti-derivative, but also because they allow for the calculation of a curve. They mostly play a role in Physics, but have uses in many other fields. In relation to derivatives, limits, and integrals the only thing that there is to test is whether the limit exists or if the derivative exists at a particular point, for that matter. That involves determining if there is discontinuous parts of the graph and other factors. If you mean in with sequences or summations, it depends on the equation you are dealing with. 5. I am confused what you are asking for. Basically, the comparison test is used to determine, especially fractions, whether the fraction will result in a number, 0, or infinity. The divergence test is a test to determine if the problem will diverge, where it goes off to infinity, or if it will converge, or eventually become a specific value. And for Integral test: http://tutorial.math.lamar.edu/Classes/CalcII/IntegralTest.aspx
  6. Apparently, my google-fu lacks. Can anyone find one making jokes about Republicans for Halloween?
  7. Well I guess I am one of the nominations for president of a math club. Interesting.

Thanks. Unfortunately, it requires a training class to become one.

Even better - training paid for by members subscriptions I hope :)

      I would hope so, lol.

  8. I don't know if I would be the one to do so since I am not very strong within the climate sciences, but sure if I do.
  9. Well beyond those questions, I have none at the moment. I am convinced at the moment, unless I can find some inconsistency within the data.
  10. Well, this does solve one problem with space colonization.
  11. Wel, I can go back to the question of whether vegetation that consumes more CO2 will begin to emerge because of cooler tempratures in other regions.
  12. So, while some places will get warmer, other places will get cooler? The reason I remained skeptical on the issue was due to this seeming inconstency. Now that it has been addressed, I will set my skepticism aside for now.
  13. I know, I was just saying where we got off on the wrong foot. Before go on asking my next question, does the phenomena of climate change of warming occur globally? Or are there destabilizations in temprature variations? I also found a graph that I have a question about. http://www.scilogs.com/frontier_scientists/files/ArcticReport_AnnualTemperatures.jpg Between the 1940s and 1980s, there is a slope downwards. Now, during these years there was an increase in production due to WWII. Is this explainable?
  14. Okay that makes sense. Now, the one question I still have deals with vegetation. Edit: I apologize for being mentally slow on the subject. I have been busy with college work.
  15. But my interpretation of your argument was that human activities result in far greater CO2 emissions than all natural causes. This is where my confusion was. This is where explanation would and should have been necessary. The question I now have is why would human influences upset the balance in such a drastic away over a long period of time? It would be expected that during the Industrial Revolution, with the amount of CO2 emissions, that there were rapid climate effects. However, over longer periods of time when an equilibrium is met with the same amount(with some differences) of CO2 emissions are being put into the atmosphere, wouldn't there be an equilibrium within the climate made? I am somewhat on the same page, still feeling a bit quirky about the evidence. Another question I have is about the consumption of CO2 by vegetation. Shouldn't we be seeing vegetation that was not apparent that may consume more CO2 than was available before? It has occurred where a particular element is added to an ecosystem and a new species was brought about. After a long period of time, I would think this type of vegetation would start showing up, unless I am wrong about that.
  16. I apologize. I interpreted the mission statements as being similar.
  17. I think the problem when finding good speculation is a majority of those who come here to post speculation are not very literate in the field they are speculating in, due to their lack of education in this particular area. This does not always happen, but I think this is an issue.
  18. Does no one think that an app for users to provide ideas in certain fields would be cool?

  19. I swear, some of the users here...

  20. Why are we getting hostile here? I am simply trying to start a discussion between the skeptics and the other side of the debate. Somehow asking questions is offensive to people. I swear, entering topics like this one is a mine field. I interpreted that what happened in May affected the issue of the event of what happened between two dates in October, which is not implausible.
