Um, I can't remember how into the actual structures of bonds you get in that grade, if at all, but you could try a game like this: Break the kids into groups and give each group a different element consisting of the same number of atoms as there are group members. Have the kids try and arrange themselves in the ball & stick structure of the molecule. If they get it right, give them a new element to try, and if they don't, draw the line structure on the board to review it's structure, then move on. This of course would only work for some easy ones like water and carbon dioxide etc. anything that wouldn't require a z-axis haha. Oh! Or a red-rover type game when talking about electron transfer in redox reactions! That would be pretty fun.

I've taken one term of Algebra based Physics, and have considered starting over with the calculus based sequence. However, I've heard you barely use any calculus in the first term (classical mechanics), so would it be just as effective to start in on the calculus physics 2nd term? I'm wanting to switch for a couple reasons: a) Have a better background/knowledge of "real" physics b) Have better credentials for applying to graduate schools c) Calc Physics is a pre-req for Biochemistry (see other thread I made) Any advice is much appreciated.

I took one term of Algebra-based Physics, hardest class I've taken yet. However, I also didn't dedicate enough study time to it, so these things are related haha. I'll be starting the sequence over taking Calculus-based probably, so we'll see how that goes.

I'm a junior in undergrad, considering applying to PhD programs next year in Microbiology and/or Immunology. There are two Biochem courses at my undergrad, the "easier" one-term class, and the "harder" 3 term sequence. I'd like to take the 3 term sequence to gain a deeper understanding of the area, but here are the prereqs: Quantitative Analysis (1 term) Calculus-Based Physics (3 terms) Physical Chemistry for the Biosciences (2 terms) Organic Chemistry (3 terms) As a Molecular/Microbiology major, I don't know if I can fit all of them in. I know I'm taking the Ochem sequence, but out of QA, physics, and Pchem, which would you say is the LEAST essential for doing well in Biochemistry? Thanks!
