The classical reason for this is beacause the electron will be drawn in towards the proton, the odds of it hitting the proton are low so it ends up just circling around it in an orbit, now according to classical mechanics the electron will continue falling into the nucleus emitting electromagnetic radiation all the way down, Idk how they tried to rationalize this with the experimental observation that the electron does not rest on the nucleus before black body radiation and QM however when plank created the theory of black body radiation he found that the energy of a photon is equal to hf, so the electron could not just emit a continuous stream of radiation as it dropped down through the nucleus, so there are certain destinct energy levels that the electron can occupy. eventually (forgot by whom) it was found that there is a ground energy which the electron can have, this is what prevents it from falling all the way into the nucleus.

actually most people without a chemistry class would not immediatly recognize that die hydrogen monoxide is water. also most people wouldn't bother to think what that translates to.

I have only asked you to define terms that appear to have eitherbeen made up by you, or that you seem to be confused on. I could have defined theoretcial physisiist in my own words perfectly, but I chose to quote the wikipedian definition of theoretical physics as it has far more credibility than I have. When you quote something give a reference, where that quote appeared (even for a notable physisist/ other notable persons) you have on several occasions given a dictionary definition without giving the name of the dictionary, different dictionaries have different definitions, some are more credible than others, or more accurate. also your kidding yourself if you think that those hundreds of millions of dollars are being spent to verify predictions made by pulsoid theory. They are being spent to verify other far more reputable theories. Unless you can show otherwise, (and I am moderatly well versed with most experiments that cost into the hundreds of millions of dollars)

I was talking about antigravity as the force that exists in a region of space with negative pressure I have always named my references, you don't seem to reference any of the dictionary definitions that you use. I think what people really want to know here is what lead you to believe that there is an inner structure of a light wave? or what experimental result are you trying to describe more accuratly? basicly what are the origins of pulsoid theory? (not the historical origins) without a reason for any of pulsoid theory to be right, why should researchers spend money or time trying to prove this theory right or wrong? however please don't try and say that other theoretical physisists didn't have a reason for there various theories, because they did. Einstein made SR out of maxwell's equations, he made GR trying to figure out the physics of an accelerating reference frame, Newton made gravity out of planetary motion Schrodinger had the double slit experiment the list goes on but I don't want to list all of these items.

seems like scienceforums.net has more active users, as well as more posts etc. 3000 users at scienceforums.com nearly 6k here 60k posts there, 200k here etc.

scifi, when it lacks the action, it is the best thing ever made memento eternal sunshine primer depending on how you define scifi fight club there are lots more that slip my memory at the moment

is anyone here capable of deriving the schorindger equation, or at least know why it is the way it is? I tried googleing briefly and couldn't find anything really.

proofof one what capn' was trying to say is that if you post once and immediatly find that you need to add more to your post you can hit the edit button and expand on your post. WE don't like people to double post here let alone post 5 times in a row. also I am quite familiar with inflation theory and know that it does in fact fit the data. I saw Alan Guth give a lecture at yale a few months back on it where he described the theory and showed how it fit the current observations of the universe. It is infact a modification of the big bang theory as it shows how the universe might have expanded from a small region of negative pressure into a large full scale universe. (negative pressure makes anti-gravity, sort of)
-
on the contrary inflation theory (a big bang variant) fits the data quite well.

in order yes there is, unless you provide some actual physics. ah I think we call that number theory over here I think your idea of what theoretical physics is might be a bit off, from wikipedia http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Theoretical_physicist So it is still your job to provide some mathmatical rigor to your theory, das part of a model of the physical world.
-
you know when quoting a dictionary reference it is usually wise to site the dictionary, for that matter this is wise for all quotations. hmm it seems you have contradicted yourself, first you claim that theoretical physisists don't need to use any sort of evidence, or any mathmatical rigor in order to have a valid claim, yet then you claim that theoretical physics today is pseudoscience, while current theoretical physics does use mathmatical rigor, and evidence. I think you have mixed the definitions of science and pseudoscience up. also, define "pure mathmatics" and since we seem to be using different definitions for "theoretical physics" why don't you define "theoretical physics" for us

When it comes down to cars I think you need to take into account the fact that in most occupations not having a car means that you don't have a job :/ also considering that a car realy does mean freedom for most people, the car is going to be the first thing they buy with there money after food and shelter. AFter taht the other things listed only cost a a few hundred dollars tops, and for that matter a car only costs a few thousand. Over the course of a year most people could afford all the things listed. I think the thing those statistics don't show is that in the event of a late pay check or something of that sort, they could lose their house :/ (probably an exagerration, but you could still end up eating ramen noodles for a week)

also shinbits, in an infinite universe it is quite likely that there is a tv floating out there somewhere. also there are laws in the universe that say taht matter should be attracted to itself (gravity) over time matter shall clump together enough to make stars, stars will in turn fuse the matter (free protons) together to form heavier elements. The eventual end is that stars planets and galaxies are formed. (quite possibly through chemical reactions life as well will form), because if you think about it its not that hard to have the reactions occur thatt will produce a dna molecule, its done in labs all the time, then over the course of a few million years these reactions go in just the right order to create a dna molecule that will self replicate, and then evolution starts and 3.9 billion years later here we are. ^it should be noted that evolution only starts once the first self-replicating dna molecules are created. but seriously as for the biochemistry bit, if you've ever done any chemistry experiments how could you think that over millions of years it never happened? and the question you should be asking is "how come the natural laws of the universe are exactly what they are?" because that is the one thing that science doesn't even have speculation on. (partially because the question isn't really scientific)

research on plasma confinement
CPL.Luke replied to CPL.Luke's topic in Modern and Theoretical Physics
sort of, it s geared towards fusion as a future application, but the project itself is more to see how feasible that would be -
research on plasma confinement
CPL.Luke replied to CPL.Luke's topic in Modern and Theoretical Physics
a static perimeter wouldn't work because of gauss's law, Locrian are you trying to say that where the microwaves aren't at a certain strength the plasma just cools off? so as to give the illusion that the plasma is being held in a fixed position? -
alrighty, so I have a new project on confineing a plasma using microwave radiation, and well after searching through several pages of google results and the like I can't find any existing research on it. Has anyone ever heard of research along these lines?

daymare, if we pumped water to mars, what would happen to earth? it would take alot of water in order to make an effect

nice strawman, there are plenty of people out there who look for relics from the bible, not necessarily to show that god exists, more jsut to show that the events are loosely based off of a real event. also the parting of the red sea was a misstranslation as I recall. It was actually a parting of the reed sea, which is a tidal sea in the same area that has highly irregular tides, and the tides tend to go out and come in very quickly. scientists regularly try to grind others theories into dust, if there was any real evidence it would have been published.

Would you choose physics over electronics?
CPL.Luke replied to Morpheus's topic in Science Education
are they transferable to a college? would you chose physics over electronics? are they? yes but to which question? -
my point is that on average humans beat bears and such.
-
yes they do, radio waves are light, light covers all electromagnetic radiation. also there is no such thing as the magnetic force
-
how many people die in bear attacks per year? how many alligators and bears are kept in zoos wehre they must be contained every day?
-
yourdad your argument is fundamentally flawed because you are taking away our strongest features and then saying that we are weak because we couldn't get along without them, but I could do that with any animal tiger- strength= dead tiger cheetah-speed = dead cheetah wolf-pack=dead wolf etc.

higher frequency light (visual spectrum) is stopped by the plastic around your phone. same effect
