no you have refuted them with flawed logic and flawed math.

Gravitational Collapse: What does it take?
CPL.Luke replied to surrealist's topic in Astronomy and Cosmology
in theory if we really wanted to and had the logistical capabilities we could probably create a star, we already jump start the process in fusion reactors. the odds are it would be next to impossible to use a similar technique to create a star that we use in fusion reactors -
particles aren't exactly the same as magnets. Bettina the big bang according to inflation theory and most modern cosmological modles occured everywhere in the universe at the same time, basicly everything in the universe suddenly "winked" into existance 13 billion years ago, since then the universe as expanded and everything that "winked" into existance then has since gotten further apart.

self regulation (Flora population)

but then animals come and eat them or other more invasive plants force there way in and start using up resources. notice how we are overrun with grass -
didn't a high school kid/college kid build a fusion reactor the other day? I think his design was based more off of Farnsworth's

you already said that the particles were identicle. but, if you think of the big bang in terms of inflation (like it should be), the directoin doesn't really matter, the big bang happened everywhere

self regulation (Flora population)
CPL.Luke replied to YT2095's topic in Ecology and the Environment
I think most of it is governed by just the fact that very few of the seeds will ever get successfully planted. in the casee of the pumpkin animals will break it open and eat the pumpkin killing off most of the seeds. Even assuming a pumpkin never gets eaten and all of the seeds come out of it alright, there not going to be distributed over a huge area, and because one acre of land can only support so many plants, most of the seedlings (is that the proper term for a newly growing plant) will die off from lack of resources to live. -
I actually have meditated from time to time, I think it may have benefits as a stress reducer. Stress has been shown to have a large number of deleterious effects on the body such as decreased immune system effectiveness, increased or decreased body weight, I think if stress is the source of these problems in people suffering from them meditation could be effective as a relaxation technique.

the ceasium experiments essentially reshaped the light pulse so that the front of the wave became the peak, this made it appear as if light traveled through the medium faster than C. as a general rule don't ever accept anything claiming to be scientific from a website with a dot com ending. Especially if it is something like <insert theory here>.com in addition to that, never trust a theory that makes its debut on a forum.

Star trek technology, How much is possible?
CPL.Luke replied to reyam200's topic in Modern and Theoretical Physics
a positron and electron pair are created when a 1.022mev photon or greater strikes a metal target. The result will be a pair of positrons and electrons with the positron immediatly annihalating with anouther electron within something like 10^-8 seconds. the released energy will be of 2 512kev photons. (more if the original photon had more than 1.022 Mev of energy) I think you might have better off using the energy from the alpha source directly -
go away, prefferably to the west coast, which is the opposite coast to where I am. If anyone knew of non-us schools that would be a good thing to

but they already proved themselves kirby, I'm sure if you bothered to go back and search for the proofs of these laws you would find them. So at this point in time the person who claims that these laws are false has far more to prove.

Should ethuanasia institue be allowed to be in society of US?
CPL.Luke replied to ps2huang's topic in The Lounge
yes it does use chemicals that kill immediatly, but thats not the issue of it -
If I recall correctly isn't there a very high rate of divorce among homosexuals who get married to women they really aren't attracted to?

what if the pipe around the ice expanded slower than the water, and absorbed the energy until it explosively released the energy I don't really know if a material exists that could do that, but if anyone else knows...

no it won't exceed the speed of light.

also please stop misquoting me, a copy and paste from one of my posts will do just fine.

your just confused, the earths rotation doesn't effect the path the light travels

heres the basics of it. are you familiar at all with basic electrostatics? take the equation for the electric field of a point charge E= k q/r^2 where E is the field strength and r is the distance from the charge. Now if you moved the charge back and fourth you would get a changing electrical field, one that (assuming the charge oscillated regularly) would give you a sine wave when you plotted the field strength against time. This is what light is. (classicly) quantum mechanical description: basics of it are that you have your wave, and that the wave is localised inside of a particle (whats known as a gaussian packet). Now the reason light acts like a wave when observed here is that the gaussian packet spreads over time, so in the brief period of time between emission and observation the packet grows and acts like a wave, then when its observed it gets localised again. the bit about quantum mechanics is a bit hard for me to explain though so don't use it as cannon. Edit: sorry you posted before I did so I didn't see your second post. A photon doe travel in a straight line but the curvature of space acts on it it follows the bend. this doesn't have much to do with light as waves though

When someone says your mass gets bigger as you move towards the speed of light they mean your relative mass, this is the value you get when you solve the equation E^2=(mc^2)^2+(pc)^2 for E, then plug e into the equation E=mc^2 and solve for mass. Basicly its not the mass changing its the energy (I know someone is going to come and say that energy is the same as mass, but its better to just think of it as energy) the reason that the energy increases is because the momentum (denoted by p) is in the equation, as p increases the energy increases.

I think its closer to the idea of the wave function. It is theoretically possible that your wave packet would not be hit by any photons for a brief period of time that allowed it to expand until it was through the wall, then when it is hit you appear on the other side of the wall.

yes, but if you don't feel anything towards women, and are attracted to men. is it really a choice?

one battery connect the two ends basicly anything that has a voltage will accelerate an electron. you may want to read up on cathode ray tubes on wikipedia, I think those articles will have what your looking for
