In what has now been 1 and a half hours, I have almost completely installed C++ express, XSI Mod Tool and the Cry 2 Engine..................... now that's good times!
-
Well it's not all work; I want to start doing mods again and Source uses C++ and XSI! I might look into the Cry II Engine. Wow my first msg on my new 'puter, I'm giddy.... express is free silly....... Games math what's the difference right....... I saw this liquid cooled beast at a shop but I'm waiting, it's not time yet...... I have other 'toyz' on my list which where supposed to take precedence but. Thx Klay I shall take a booo........ This is like so weird I'm @ home, I might start laughing at stuff or singing to music and my landlord will wonder "...what is she up to..."

I have a great pocket calc.........no graphing though or functions..... I think I'll probably program my own graphing/functions suite......... I'm not gonna sleep for the next year of my life! Merged post follows: Consecutive posts mergedI did it and I'm soooooooooo ashamed of myself. I feel dirty, kind of sick! It cost me as much as my last investment on books $1200 after tax. No software; damn paper weight! First thing to download tommorow when I'm internet ready C++ express............ I'll look through Ruby just because you suggested it Bascule. I like my monitor, 22" wide screen HD. The best monitor I've ever had the priviledge of viewing. I saw a couple of gaming beasts and was like almost getting gready. Vista, Quad Duo, 620 SATA, 6Gigs and Radeon with 512.............. not a bad deal. I had to pay a $24 environmental tax.......... I thought the carbon tax was limited to gasoline...guess not. It's probably twice of what I'd pay in the states...... ah well it'll keep me busy for at least a bit....... damn 'puters!

Old news but, I just can't live without................. I have been programming computers since I was five. I started on a Commodore 64 and worked my way up from there. I was probably one of the first hundred thousand individuals to communicate through modem and chat on BBS and IRC(probably one of the first ten thousand pirates.) I played so many Sierra games that my sense of humor is permanently twisted. But alas I have never actually owned a computer; well one that actually worked anyway. I came close once when I was 14! I had a 386 SX 25 if I remember correctly. It had a hundred meg hard drive and 256k RAM. The hard drive had a broken pin on it so I had to stick a pin in the IDE cable. The controler card had a break in one of the connections. I scratched off the varnish and connected it with pieces of banana peel that I replaced every day or so. It ran DOS and I could get the intro screen from Rex Nebular and the Cosmic Gender Bender to run. It was a very short lived momment and I've never counted that as actually owning a functional computer..................... Well today is the day. It's been twenty five years in the making and I'm going to go buy one right now! I swear......... I'm crying. I can't get anything done anymore without one. I'm sooooooo out of the social loop it's not even funny. I want to go to a club event or a rave, I have to look it up. I want to find a new job, "......please miss just send it in through email." I'm kind of localized to a special grouping for dating that in my neck almost completely mandates meeting online first. Need to order a special substrate...............online! Well I guess I don't need to buy that graphing calculator anymore. Deviant Art here I come........... I'll finally have spell check when I'm on SFN; damn public library is another thread!~ I'm going now I swear!

I can sleep better now............... thank you!

Well truthfully I don't really care where I go! I'm not trying to get a job! I'm trying to position myself to do my own research legally, with possible capital gain interests of coarse. I want to be the boss, jobs at NASA are cool and all but............... I know credentials would limit a person in this area also; I've never been one to look for the easiest answer to the question though. unda tha sea.............unda tha sea............. maybe unda the oceans of the methane moon of Saturn! (Don't let my tom foolery down play the serious nature of the op. Thank you for the replies!)
-
I personally preferred the old style to the new and was hoping to have at the very least the option to revert back. On the other hand the addition of some more emoticons would really nifty............
-
Did Eskimos brains develop both physically and chemically different from the brains of say a Philipino because their environments differed? Not to mention their vastly different diets.............. I don't believe the moon or prehistoric environments are necessary to answer this question; unless there are more specific reasons to. I'm sure there are an abundance of studies on this and on the cognitive development of individuals who have been isolated from the rest of society throughout their existence. These are pretty extreme examples and in the case of humans they have adapted to their new environment. An Eskimo though has in no way developed a new genetically inherited trait with respect to evolutionary steps than has a Philipino. Is there any known development of life originating out of the Arctic? There's a moon orbiting around Saturn completely composed of methane. There are a few speculative individuals who are wondering if life has happened to have developed in the methane oceans. I wonder what the chemical structuring of their brains are like.......... I'm not that good at chemistry yet! Bastos Batang Babae Lalake....................Ci no, no say??????

I had tied High School prerequisites with Community College assisted entry........ In Canada this tends to be the means of gaining entrance to a University when one doesn't meet the High School expectations, either grades or time frame. Is this not the same in the States? $20000 - $30000 tuition alone or living expenses included?????? No matter it's still not the real issue! I work and have no intention of even beginning my education for another three or four years. I promise not to ask if I'll be to old to go back to school................... There's always the alternative I could set up lab.............unda tha sea, unda tha sea.................

Extremophiles 'till the the end though I do believe they would be pretty bland. If you started adding the nescessary elements to sustain life you would probably end up with earth, but on the moon. What exactly is the question? Would a living sentient entity living on a rock devoid of anything but dirt develop a cognitive response system that would be different from a living sentient entity in an environment rich in diversity? Is this like that hypothetical what if you kept a human in a room from birth, what would they develop like mentally?

So if I was financially capable, with exceptional SAT scores and was actively involved in the community it may be possible to get around high school and/or community college pre-requisites? As for how exceptional, well, I don't know a damn thing about the SATs so I really don't know. Knowledge of American History, correct me if I'm wrong, is avidly tested. It has always been a thought, the finances aren't really the big issue. I expected the part about community involvement and well..............and although I think I would do well on the SATs I would probably have to do some serious cramming to do exceptionally well. Thanks, it is a thought I may one day entertain. If not working towards a Ba or a masters maybe towards a PhD!
-
I've looked into applying to an American College as an alternative means of gaining entrance. I've been out of school for a long time and my high school diploma is pretty much useless here in Canada. I've read a lot about how SAT scores are not everything when it comes to getting accepted. What if an individual scored far beyond the 'norm' would it be sufficients grounds to be granted approval to study??????? Thx!

What's wrong with Ununbium..........I like Ununbium.............I remember Ununbium......... Poof

You can make a web page with flash on it................ the SEPY editor is a good programming environment(a replacement for the flash code editor(actionscript)) but flash will cost you money. This is assuming you want to do anything interesting of course, like web based Homo Luden applications ....... someone may argue otherwise! I've added a link to my student page in my signature it's a good example of web based things that can be done............. 5 minutes is flash and might be slightly operational(click on the cd)..........it might take a minute to load(the web page)!
-
Unless you are planning on making a web page and learning PHP or ASP you might want to switch to a language that makes applications. First look up HTML codes and HTML if statements. Then look up Microsoft free downloads, assuming you are just trying to learn how to make cool stuff happen............ When you've mastered the conditional statement, loops and variables might I suggest choosing an application............. maybe Homo Ludens!

That's why it's 'revolutionary' recycled techno guber! Recycled being crucial to the statement. Communicating sequential processes is an absolute or you'll end up with Alien Hand Syndrome.................. It's been a while since I've dedicated any serious thought to this topic but I do have something I wish to say so anyone reading this bare with me. I said something fuzzy -ish because I still expect a sudden departure from the digital era and a new or revamped arrival of anologue to fuzzy computing networks that will be primarily structured upon mathematics. The current processor scheme of moving information from one place to another and doing some basic functions to it will eventually be replaced by something more differential. Instead of key framing a set of points for an animation, bones and nodes will be assigned mathematical functions or differential equations upon which they will act. Textures will become 3D algorithmic representations. Fonts will all be resized through a numerical model. I know you are looking at the problem from the realistic and now perspective but the reallity I see is it is limited in that it will only ever produce a flash movie sequence and never true fluid dynamics. I want to and am going to read more about the turing test competitors as they are probably the closest to practical functional neural networks. I believe in the reality of Grand Unified Parallel Processing and denounce properly sequenced quantitative serial binary????? I think............ Database information will still be handled much the same as it is now but with the amalgamation of weighting(analogue priority sequencing.) I mentioned user end dev kits. I see software development being taken out of the hands of programmers(already true) and given to designers. Software development will be done in studios not quite unlike the current game editors 'sans code.' The home user will have the ability to make software through the same dev suits and customize to their needs. Flash will one day get rid of action script and will deliver more ready made solutions with an abundance of resizing options(centre but do not resize upon users change of resolution check check check.) Programming will be given to engineers and there will be a more noticeable split between programmers and designers or Software Engineers and Computer Science Majors with a hint of interior decorator.......... I could be wrong but I think you like to be one of those who does both. I know I am. I took Game Design and was a little bit upset when they told me I had to chose between designing fun games and programming them. There where mentions inside of this thread as to the best language to learn right now going into the field and I think more now than ever anyone in their twenties had better learn a real mans language and that's math. The second thing to learn(not a language) is organization. This will get any user/programmer through any current and future language period no matter how dynamic the syntax or gritty the processing structure. huh, I didn't want to go to the gym anyway..............

I do agree, C++ is doomed for the recycling bin. I'm still placing my bets on something we haven't seen yet though................not short term(<10 years) but soon enough. Something fuzzy -ish a whole new platform based on 'revolutionary' recycled techno guber........... with something a little more like this as the programming language with labels and jmp commands ...............obviously 'High Level' english prepackaged user dev kits will be available!

Huh???????? http://www.blachford.info/computer/Cell/Cell3_v2.html "The primary language for developing on the Cell is expected to be C with normal thread synchronisation techniques used for controlling the execution on the different cores. C++ is also supported to a degree and other languages are also in development (including apparently, Fortran)." http://www.google.ca/search?hl=en&q=Cell+processor+PS3&btnG=Google+Search&meta=&aq=f&oq=

I've always wanted to be more capable of feeling both in terms of sensory perception and in terms of emotional sensation. I've given much thought to the design of the next generation and most my thoughts have been focused on developing these aspects of psyche. ...............not to contradict only to contrast............. We would know we have achieved their creation when they make us cry like a little child who has dropped their loly. And even more so when they wipe our tears off and give us a big warm hug..........

Robotic meter maids will probably be the next photo radar................... .....................those will be some funny looking arguments.......................but it's three inches....................

The post says Robocop but it seems the main topic is robot cops! Robocop was half human............a cyborg. Development of armored robotic suits with the ability to increase a soldier or cops running speed, jumping/falling height and so on is well under development. I'm still waiting for the mini COIL add on to come along and shoot down the bullets long before they achieve impact................... I really like the mod assault riffles that fire around corners, do cops in LA carry anything similar????? COIL as in Chemical Oxygen Iodine Laser not the electromagnetic projectile propelling pistol...........................
