  1. Why not??????? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:ETC_electron_transport_chain.svg ATP Synthase is like soooooooooooooooo cooooooooooooool!
  2. I had mentioned in a previous thread the possibility of an overabundance of Type-III Collagen as being an aiding cause in the less than complete remodeling of skin. I was 'corrected' on this subject and was told only Type-I Collagen was present in dermal tissue. http://www.scienceforums.net/forum/showthread.php?t=34945&highlight=chemical+scar I've come across several studies which are reviewing the role of Type-III Collagen in Dermal Scarring. eg. http://www.pubmedcentral.nih.gov/articlerender.fcgi?artid=1163841 Is there anything to be said about inducing a mild and general apoptosis in a Dermal Scar with a slightly more aggressive attack on Type-III as a means of remodeling the scarred tissue????
  3. Sounds safe...........teee heee...................I think maybe I should culture some Streptomycetaceae and harvest the poly-(L-Lysine) instead. This seems to be the more common approach! Although synthesis would still prove educational................my current lab(my living room or kitchen) may not provide adequate ventilation! Can anybody recommend to me a good bacteria vendor????????
  4. Cohesive gel? I've always wanted a relationship like the one Dr. Maggie had with Jordan in City of Angels except married. I don't see the fun in dating fictional characters! Could you ask your boyfriend which line is better from a chemists POV Darphin or La Prairie?
  5. I did my research! bye bye:-(
  6. I am thinking of synthesising the polymer poly-(L-Lysine) and copolymer poly-(L-lactic-co-epsilon-caprolactone) for use in electrospinning of an ECM scaffold; just for fun! I was wondering if there was anything that comes to mind immediately why I shouldn't try to do this? I personnaly can't see anything wrong with any steps of these synthesis. Merged post follows: Consecutive posts mergedNo strings of capitals in titles eh?
  7. Maybe you could make it a BBQ!
  8. Why 'Norma' are you suggesting health issues? I couldn't help myself...............

    17q21

"GFAP is a type III IF protein that maps, in humans, to 17q21." -wiki Glial Fibrillary Acidic Protein What does the mapping designation 17q21 stand for? What 'keyes' would I input into a search on this specifically(map convention?)
  11. I thought the plants where going to make us commit suicide by poisoning our neural transmitters and reversing the order to survive! I like M. Night Shyamalan...................
  12. What about the names of the scientists who discovered them or something? Ah probably not! They could have numbered them......................
  13. So meat planes are out of the question but adding an atmosphere to our moon to fly in is a safe bet!
  14. this might help matters.............. http://www.scienceforums.net/forum/showthread.php?t=39003 it could even act as a math co-processor for you...................you would still have to know what questions to ask specifically. Even then the answers could form a long list and the one you want could be way at the end. I still opt to not own a 'puter because significant facts are towered by porn..........not that that's a problem if that's what you dig! Even if I bought a computer I wouldn't put it online 'cause some punk @$$ little punk would upload me a virus and I'd get some weird blip in my caustic data retrieved from samples I've run through Surface Plasmon Resonance and Fluorescent Imaging....................... Don't I have enough voices in my head! Answered: no, I'll take one but I'm not paying for it.
  15. I was afraid of that......................I'm not so good with random lettering! Note the title Ammino..............
  16. How is it that Arginine is labeled R and Aspartate is labeled D? Is there a source on the list, the 'magic 20' at least with their respective letter and a reason why? I assume this is something similar to Pb Lead-Plumbum? I don't remember this from the biochemistry books I've read. They where all from the 70's, would that have mattered? I will be receiving my fully up to date biochemistry reference title, but not for another three weeks!
  17. Aphex Twin? I like the Boy/Girl Song sounds a lot like.............damn it I can't remember, some orchestra! oh and mash potatoes.....................oh and speed racer.................. oh and don't confuse Richard D. James from Star Trek with Richard D. James AKA Aphex Twin it might make you look like a nub in a geek music thread!

    Watchmen

I don't know I think the whole movie did a pretty good job of saying that..............made that imagination of mine run wild! Have you ever heard the last two tracks of NIN Fixed album? Add the Crystal Methods Trip Like I Do lyrics "ah.....oh my God......can't you trip like I do"(spawn soundtrack or original) to the end of them and you've got pretty much how I felt and looked walking out of the theatre tuesday night(I like to dress casual.......not!)
  19. I use the only example I know of..................Argon when ionized and discharged in space can under the influence of magnetism produce a field. This field can interact with 'Solar Winds' and act as a 'Solar Sail!' The hope here would be to find a chemical substance which could be ionized and made to form a sheet which could act as a wing. The challenge here would be to make its integrity maintainable in earths atmosphere under low enough 'magnetic pressure.' I'll try to find anything to back any or all of what I just said up in the next two minutes I have left online! Merged post follows: Consecutive posts mergedhttp://science.nasa.gov/headlines/y2000/ast04oct_1.htm Yeah well that's the just of it. Adjust the magnetics to form a wing shape and work your way around all.....'big list'......yeah all of the technical road blocks and, well you never know! I don't have any theories on how to keep the meat rocket cone from literaly being blown apart, well I have thoughts, but...........I'm outty on this one! I'll keep my eye out for some stuff while reading Challas book!

    Watchmen

Hmmmmmm antihero, noiresque comic book movie; not new but I liked it. The foreshadowing of the end in the part where the Comedian shoots the Korean girl he impregnated was well placed and very legible! Manhattan was such a hotty! Three Manhattens, I don't know what she was complaining about. The blue cat with horns was pretty cool too. What happened to The Figure? I've picutred a few scenarios but none do the scene justice!
  21. Now she has two dicks! Lindt, but only because Goddiva, Thomas Haas and Chocoatl where all not options!
  22. Yes, but all of what I said above could be genetically engineered..............
  23. So an embedded flying squirrel suit? Near massless energy wings, and meat jet propulsion fueled by an engineered and surgically implanted gland! Energy fields could line the meat cone and dorsal areas of the body to prevent burning. A touch of coloured fluorescence and we all look like fairies! Some of this may lead to serious science someday.........................for now I'm literally laughing out loud in a public place and people are staring.
  24. http://thefutureofthings.com/articles/26/americium-power-source.html Q: How is americium 242 currently being manufactured? A: Americium 242 is created when americium 241 absorbs a neutron. This process is currently done in the most effective way in the kind of nuclear reactors know as "fast reactors". Americium 241 exists in large quantities as a by-product of regular power reactors. The process that turns it into americium 242 is still expensive today. Q: Are you thinking what I'm thinking? A: But brain, where are we 'gonna get that many smoke detectors?
