Are there instances when it is good to lie? Check this article out: http://www.thestar.com/NASApp/cs/ContentServer?pagename=thestar/Layout/Article_Type1&call_pageid=971358637177&c=Article&cid=1060294210193 Interesting eh?

So blike, you said you had a graphing calculator 1st year; which model is it? In secondary school, we used the Texas Instruments TI-83+; is that sufficient?

That's why my Hotmail has 110 spam e-mails daily

Better than having them rot & infected. *notice my nice white teeth*

That'll produce mixed results then, won't it? B/c if you want someone to do something, it would be b/c they want to; but I'm seeing what you're saying as more of a rebellious type of situation. Maybe if you could elaborate on why that is, I could have a clearer understanding.

I'm not sure if this is of any relevance, but this scenario happened in The Simpsons when Ned Flanders suppressed his anger from the hate of his parents. He overcame this by expressing his thoughts rather than non-scensical jabbering.

I don't know about an actual chemical to seperate oxygen from water, but when we wanted to seperate the 2 (ie. H & O) we used electrolysis.

Stalking dementia TYLER HAMILTON TECHNOLOGY REPORTER It begins with forgotten words and acquaintances, fragmented sentences and broken trains of thought. In its more advanced stages, close family members and daily surroundings become lost in a haze of confusion, to the point where even routine tasks are a challenge and 24-hour care is required. The person within the individual fades away. The emotional and financial burdens on families grow unbearable as memory loss, depression and paranoia draw loved ones into full-scale dementia. More than five million people across North American have Alzheimer's disease, with up to a million new patients diagnosed each year. The number is expected to surge over the next two decades as baby boomers reach retirement. ... What's clear is that existing drugs aren't doing the trick. Aricept, the most popular Alzheimer's drug, slows down the disease for six to eight months — slightly postponing the inevitable. It also brings with it a host of horrible side effects, from severe headaches and nausea to liver damage. ... GB Therapeutics, established in 1997 by five scientists from Queen's University, plans to raise the bar significantly. The company has chemically altered the properties of nitric oxide, a gaseous derivative of nitroglycerine, to create molecules called "smart nitrates" that improve communications between neurons. Studies in animals show that these molecules are capable of unlocking our memories for about two to three years — at least twice as long as Aricept. Rats with untreated brain lesions regained almost 100 per cent of their memory when given a dose. But, unlike Aricept, the molecules have been engineered to eliminate the toxic side effects. ... Marengère is impressed with the idea that nitric oxide, used for 130 years to treat angina, can be re-orchestrated as a non-toxic defender against all sorts of dementias, including epilepsy and Parkinson's disease. "It's basically a new spin on a very old chemistry." That's too bad. I liked Star Trek as well, or at least, the really old one with Kirk & Scotty & I also watched TNG. Nemesis was fairly good IMO. HOw was first contact & those other TNG movies prior to Nemesis? I have yet to watch them

That's cool what you said. I agree with you in the part that it may actually hurt nature more if we try to help it, ie. the resources & time consumed. Well, I feel strongly for nature; like you say, if everyone helped a little, it would go a long way. As for a total reformation of the way we operate, I do'nt think it's possible right now. ie. look @ the Kyoto Protocol, it's still taking time. I like being able to venture into the woods camping, while at the same time, driving sportscars around gas-draining speeds. What a hypocrite eh? hehe I suppose like you say, we (humans) could end up surviving indpendent of nature, but I think that's awfully selfish (ie. all the biotic things perishing), but then again, I'm an omnivore, so I know, I'm a big hypocrite

It's kinda freakish how numbers can appear where we least expect in our world... Reminds me of things like the Fibonnaci Numbers

I'm in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. Well, what I've heard from talking to the Profs is that first semester is usually a recap of what I learned in Secondary School; so the algebra is not just elementary 2x=y, isolate for x kinda thing. THe algebra course is actually Geometry & Discrete Mathematics. And calc is well, just calc. and a bit Off-Topic, but what are these SAT scores thingys? As I Canadian, I don't really know what it is. What is it's purpose? ooh! What do you drive?

Hey, how's it going guys? Anyways, I'm going into University first year for the 2003-2004 academic year, beginning in September. I just want to know what you guys thought of your first year, any tips or hints I should be aware of, how it's like, how many courses you took, what type of courses, etc. etc. I know most of you are Secondary, Post-Secondary, or even Post-Graduate. So please feel free to include any comments you may have. Thanks. Oh, also, what types of supplies do you need? ie., does a personal graphing calculator really help? do i still need a compass set? etc. Oh, and I'm going into first year Mechanical Engineering. My schedule is as follows: electives are in italics Semester 1 Chemistry - General Chem Comp Sci - Digital Computation & Programming Math - Calc I Math - Algebra Physics - Physics I Plato & the Roots of Western Philosophy Semester 2 Mechanical - Engineering Design & Graphical Commun. Math - Calculus II Mechanical - Materials Science Fundamentals Physics - Physics II -- Mechanics Physics - Physics III Problems in Philosophy

Was faf with you? hehe

Yeah, why is that?

Do they prefer graduate students though?

I think there would be great moral issues which would arise. ie. issues like those in The Animatrix

I posted this a while ago, I guess this is more pseudo than science But cool feedback guys! I still need to read up on the Planck length & whatnot, but keep it up guys!

Digit extraction algorithm for Pi
NSX replied to fafalone's topic in Linear Algebra and Group Theory
Cool. Thanks. It took a few minutes, but it sunk in -
One of Euclid's axioms was that things equal to the same thing are equal to each other. Since you're both stupid, maybe Sayonara³ is atinymonkey

Hey, you're from Ontario as well? Where do you study right now?
