Your chemistry teacher is wrong. You would expect that when you pour a into b you get a+b. However everything is composed of tiny particles so when you mix two different materials together the particles can move into gaps. This means that you won't get a volume anything like a+b. Like in this video with the sand just on a much smaller scale.

Yeah and it is actually really easy to do. You could also make a wicker basket to hold them. If you have a large amount of twine you can make rope.

I don't understand generally genes exist in pairs usually increasing this to three etc tends to result in disabilities examples are the XXX, XXY and XXYY syndromes. XXYY for instance is known to result in infertility.

I use my old wine bottles. I know they break but I don't care they'll just get recycled if they break.

The disturbed world of online games
fiveworlds replied to Eldad Eshel's topic in Psychiatry and Psychology
Yeah they abandon games you are playing and really mess up the entire game for everybody. Not all kids are like that though a lot of them are and it is funny you mention western kids because I have definitely seen kids from eastern nations giving out to each other too. Especially making curses in different languages on a different language server because they believe the majority won't know what they are saying. -
research presentation 2: 9 February 2016
fiveworlds replied to computingtoday's topic in Computer Science
It isn't as simple as all that though. What if the distance from a to b is shortest but your path goes through the sun?? You obviously can't use euclidean distance to calculate the distance all the time. It is funny because I was watching an anime called world trigger recently and in that anime they were working out who their nearest neighbor was (aka which planets were near enough to attack them) -
I would recommend removing the hard drives and have a computer professional look at it. Burned hard drives need to be taken apart and put back together after the disk inside has been cleaned. Now the electronics in it might be totally fried but as long as the platter inside didn't get too badly damaged then it should be fixable. Smoke can stop the disk reading. In the case of an SSD it may not be fixable as that is mostly electronics. If you are going about taking the hard drives apart bear in mind they are made in a clean room so putting them back together in a normal room may not work 100% of the time.

writing to excel with python and installing modules
fiveworlds replied to physica's topic in Computer Science
Dunno worked fine for me on windows. I downloaded newest version of python inside is a folder called scripts with pip inside. On windows I had to copy the script to the main python folder with the python.exe file. Then I had to use command prompt cd folder python.exe pip.exe install XlsxWriter and it ran fine. So maybe try downloading from github or something. -
Well as I said many syndromes develop as a result of some damage to reproductive cells the sperm, egg or in early fetal development. One such syndrome is called smith-magenis syndrome. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Smith%E2%80%93Magenis_syndromeAs for the exact mechanism of how such changes occur I am not 100% sure of I asked here previously. I haven't heard of those affecting all cells though.

Hi John, generally we use google/yahoo etc for these types of questions a quick search of orbital speed gives this Wikipedia page https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Orbital_speed The barycenter being the center of mass of the atom.

What's with all this fantasy and mythology. You name yourself as the god who carried the world on his shoulders and you claim to be from Atlantis but everyone knows "Atlantis Fell". Then you speak of hydra this isn't 2000 years ago...

Maybe I used to have very vivid dreams when I was young and reading a lot. I very rarely if ever have a dream anymore though I remember the last dream I had was two years ago of north korea starting ww3 with nuclear weapons and the planet gets destroyed. Maybe they will go away with time. Normal people can have up to three or more dreams a week whereas some people can have persistent night-terrors or even walk in their sleep

How long would it take to get to Ceres?
fiveworlds replied to Kirin Eldridge's topic in Astronomy and Cosmology
1.77au is 164531778.86336 miles. The fastest manned spacecraft so far went 39,896 miles per hour. Works out as 4124.01691556 hours or 172 days approx. The fastest unmanned spacecraft went 250,000miles per hour approx which would take 658hours or 28 days approx. If we could go to mars as fast as 250,000 miles an hour we could get there in a little over a week. -
Yeah you can get a gsm modem for your pc/laptop etc because your phone is a pc If your pc doesn't have a gsm modem you need to use an internet gateway provider. For instance your cell phone provider may provide web-text for free if you are their customer. (certain countries make this easier than others mine is a pain). Internet gateway providers are not free and icq would have most likely paid them for their services.

Does an Electric Generator Need Permanent Magnets?
fiveworlds replied to metacogitans's topic in Physics
Why would this be necessary though? We can make permanent magnets now there was a time we were worried about running out but not anymore. -
To anyone who had read Enders Game- Ansible vs Blackhole
fiveworlds replied to fang3412's topic in Physics
Yeah I really liked the book but if you remember the ansible was technology that was stolen from aliens and the characters had no idea how it worked. Also remember how the entire alien race was controlled by an alien queen bee through telepathy?? that wasn't explained either. -
I think the being able to afford it is irrelevant many couples could afford it if they wanted to. But at the moment men don't have the option of taking time off if they wanted to.

I find that men often have far less rights when it comes to their children than women do. Western countries give their women more rights than most of the rest of the world. There was a time here where men were expected to be the breadwinners and work. Yet when it came to that man's children he had next to zero rights. For instance there was a famous case of a man whose wife left for Australia because she wanted to. The state would not allow that man custody of his kids and placed his children in an orphanage. So the man had to go to court and fight for his children all the way to the european court of justice.

Here's a question what if you gave the guys the 12 weeks off too. I mean it technically is their kid and studies show that the first few weeks of a baby's life is essential for forming relationships with their parents. Also according to studies women are actually getting paid more than men per hour but work fewer hours.

It tends to form SO2 sulfur dioxide when in contact with air. Which smells really really bad. We accidentally made it in school once and school was closed for the day.
