Having the computer on uses a lot of electricity. Also changes to things all the time get annoying for instance I had to add this line to my php email script for it to send without an error now. date_default_timezone_set( 'Europe/London' );

So they are telling you everything you would need to study. But you're right the requirements to get a computer job are massive. You need to pay alot of money before you make anything at it. It would be easier to get a job as a chef etc. Alternatively you could spend the money you waste on electricity on tools and work as a handyman.

Are there any good physics books with a more mathematical approach?

A physics workbook?? I found them great for studying. :) -
Water pump to move water through a pipe? (science project)
fiveworlds replied to aniceoaktree's topic in Engineering
You could siphon if you bought some tubing. -
What basis is there for us ever having eaten sugar in the past?? It is still relatively new. We get natural sugars from fruit etc. Whereas the sugar we put on our breakfast is refined sugar. Too much sugar leads to diabetes and obesity.

What? Sugar is a preservative. Sugar is used as a preservative in jams, cakes etc. Butter has salt added to it and it isn't supposed to be bad in small amounts they were worried about the type of fat in the butter but they were proven wrong. Cooking Oil is also a preservative. Also there was an article about sausages having so many preservatives now they think eating shop bought ones is worse than smoking.

I trying to also gain some muscle which I dont seem to ever get, I just lose weight. How do you set up a decent diet plan? Eggs and Water are a must since eggs tend not to have preservatives added to them. Also organic vegetables. Losing weight takes a long time I know since I was a fat kid. I just took up walking/running and swimming and did exercise that I enjoyed. But if you don't keep it up it won't stay off. Sprinting builds muscle and skipping is good too. Then there's weights but if you're young they aren't recommended. https://staysharpbestrong.files.wordpress.com/2013/04/sprinter-vs-marathoner.jpg

Of course it can zero is arbitrary. A better question would be how the combine. Do they merge into a single entity or are they three entities tied closely together. In one case the neutron is really neutral the other is a resultant of three unique waves and therefore not zero.

Cern uses light in the communication between the rings of the particle accelerator. Therefore they will never go faster than the speed of light in that manner if it is even possible.
-
A warp drive is a theoretical form of transportation allowing one to travel faster than the speed of light. Cern released a statement years ago about having a neutrino travel faster than the speed of light. However these reading were put down to faulty equipment and a scientist resigned.

I'll bet you 1 holiday over here. That Russia won't even apply to join the EU.

What is the minimum number of properties posessed by members of a set?
fiveworlds replied to studiot's topic in Mathematics
You can say that yeah. Simply because both sets are the same. But it is the equivalent of saying only one set exists which contains only the number 1. -
What is the minimum number of properties posessed by members of a set?
fiveworlds replied to studiot's topic in Mathematics
This seems a bit strange given The axiom of the empty set stating the existence of the empty set and the axiom of extensionality stating that if two sets have the same elements they are equal -
What is the minimum number of properties posessed by members of a set?
fiveworlds replied to studiot's topic in Mathematics
Surely we assign the properties of each set lets say I have 3 sets. A->People who visit scienceforums.net but are not members and haven't registered B->People who have registered to become a member but are not yet members C->People who are members At any one point in time set A,B or C could be the empty set. Does the set cease to exist if it has no members? -

How does myocardial infarction cause retention of urine?
fiveworlds replied to scilearner's topic in Medical Science
Obviously there is a whole bunch of reasons why this could happen including the other way around as https://www.facebook.com/nursing20092009/posts/601492069903471suggests Again there is a load of reasons including idiopathic cyclic edema. There is also evidence to suggest factors such as diabetes mellitus, hypothyroidism, obesity etc. Lastly we tend to avoid giving medical advice. There are many online journals you can read or you can go to your doctor if you are worried, -
Actually the United Kingdom is far from overpopulated and land distribution means that only 7% has been urbanised. Apart from the fact that the United Kingdom is the most densely populated major country in Europe http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-2530125/This-worryingly-crowded-isle-England-officially-Europes-densely-packed-country.html However being on an island London is limited in the size of its catchment area. This leads to problems such as Japan being unable to feed itself." What? That's wrong on more levels than farting in a lift. Um the Japanese food crisis is a thing they have to rely on food imports now. http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/shared/spl/hi/picture_gallery/07/asia_pac_japan0s_food_crisis/html/6.stm Also, it's quite a long while- it is, for example, possible that we will have fusion power in less than 200 years. Two hundred years ago, humanity was inventing dental floss and the Davy lamp, Things might alsochange in the next 200. While entirely possible so far fusion power has yielded little in the way of electricity. Unless you believe rumors.

The UK has about 200 years' worth of unused coal reserves. Using them without breaching carbon dioxide emissions agreements is the problem. 200 years still isn't that long it will just delay the problem a while. All cities are on islands; why don't you think London should be, and where else could you put it? Do you propose moving it to the Moon? If we could absolutely. We don't have the technology for that at the moment though. The main reason is supply and demand and it isn't just London the UK has other big cities too. London has a massive demand for goods and services. In order to supply this demand it has a large catchment area surrounding it providing the resources necessary for survival. However being on an island London is limited in the size of its catchment area. This leads to problems such as Japan being unable to feed itself. Electricity is traded directly with the rest of Europe; the infrastructure for that exists. (At least most of) Ireland is not part of the United Kingdom. But it is your nearest neighbor. The UK's recent decision to get China to build a nuclear station here is bizarre. Not really they give you electricity if you give them food etc.

What I'm not understanding is why work didn't start on retrofitting or building new steady output plants(fossil fuels, nuclear) earlier. Politics building new plants costs money. In order to raise money the government has to raise taxes which makes whatever party is in power unpopular and less likely to be voted in when the next election comes around. Unpopularity of decisions always hold sway over decisions made by governments. Raising taxes and telling people to have less kids is unpopular. Is importing electricity directly an option? I know tariffs would add to the costs, but not sure on what physical infrastructure exists. Yes but it is best avoiding becoming dependent on another country. Another problem being that while the UK could theoretically build windfarms off Ireland there is opposition to allowing the UK to do so. On account of windfarms being an eyesore and displacement of farmers who were probably in the IRA. Ireland does have its own electricity problem to worry about with electricity coming from dwindling turf supplies.
-
I have mentioned it a few times years ago. Basically the UK is a set of islands and they were overpopulated. Now the UK has massive constraints on the availability of land. Since all of it is owned by somebody. But also faces the depletion of its fossil fuels. As such the UK is in a bad position now where it may be unable to power all its homes. Then you have the problem where old coal powerplants need replacing and it is a question of the UK not having coal to power them. You have this mad situation that the largest city in Europe according to http://www.citymayors.com/features/euro_cities1.htmlis on an island.

Well generally when running a serverfarm many windows machines would be controlling things. Should one fail or bluescreen the others pick up the slack. When did you last see an ATM not work??
-
Absolutely as long as it was on a secured network with no chance of outside interference. Such as a techie installing a virus. Since I don't believe modern computers are immune to being hacked remotely there should be no way for a satellite or other wireless signal to get into the server.
