If you place detectors in the middle of the slit the particle is always detected in a single slit. This means the particle physically entered a single slit. To think the particle does not enter a single slit if there aren't detectors in the middle of the slits is absolutely ridiculous absurd nonsense. Q. Why is the particle always detected entering, traveling through or exiting a single slit. A. The particle always enters, travels through and exits a single slit. It is the associated wave in the aether which passes through both. In a double slit experiment the particle travels a well defined path which takes it through one slit. The associated wave in the aether passes through both. As the aether wave exits the slits it creates wave interference. As the particle exits a single slit the direction it travels is altered by the wave interference. This is the wave piloting the particle of pilot-wave theory. Detecting the particle strongly exiting a single slit turns the associated aether wave into chop. The aether waves exiting the slits interact with the detectors and become many short waves with irregular motion. The waves are disorganized. There is no wave interference. The particle pitches and rolls through the chop. The particle gets knocked around by the chop and it no longer creates an interference pattern.

No, it isn't. What is observed is the particle always entering, traveling through and exiting a single slit. And that is where pilot-wave theory is incomplete. There are no such things as hidden variables. Bell's inequality places an invalid constraint on classical physics. You have a pair of dice. They are exact opposites. If you roll one and it is a 6 the other is a 1. If one is a 5 the other is a 2. If one is a 4 the other is a 3. There is a 1 in 6 chance of any die being a particular number. Once you know what that die is you know what the other is. The way Bell's theorem works is it says there is a 1 in 6 chance of the other die being any particular number. Bell's theorem does not take into account what is known about the pair. When a downconverted photon pair are created they are exact opposites. They are created with exact opposite polarizations. They are created with exact opposite angular momentums. When you detect one you know something about the other. The downconverted photon pair are not entangled. The downconverted photon pair do not have hidden variables. They are detected with the spins they are because they are created that way and knowing the spin of one changes your knowledge about what the probability of the spins of the other will be.

The particle is always observed entering, traveling through and exiting a single slit in a double slit experiment. This distinguishes pilot-wave theory from other interpretations since it is the only interpretation supported by what is observed.

Pilot-wave theory uses the same mathematics as other interpretations of quantum mechanics but you don't seem to care. In pilot-wave theory there is a physical particle and a physical wave. In a double slit experiment the particle physically travels through a single slit and the associated physical wave in the aether physically passes through both.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pilot_wave#The_Pilot_Wave_theory "The Pilot Wave theory is one of several interpretations of quantum mechanics. It uses the same mathematics as other interpretations of quantum mechanics; consequently, it is also supported by the current experimental evidence to the same extent as the other interpretations." It also correctly explains what occurs physically in nature in a double slit experiment where there is a physical particle and a physical wave. The particle travels through a single slit and the associated physical wave passes through both. The physical wave is a wave in the aether.

Please understand in a double slit experiment it is the aether which waves. A week ago you had never even heard of pilot-wave theory. I think that this has really hampered our ability to make progress, to come up with new ideas and see intuitively how new systems ought to behave."' http://www.scientificamerican.com/article.cfm?id=new-double-slit-experiment-skirts-uncertainty-principle "Intriguingly, the trajectories closely match those predicted by an unconventional interpretation of quantum mechanics known as pilot-wave theory, in which each particle has a well-defined trajectory that takes it through one slit while the associated wave passes through both slits." What waves in a double slit experiment is the aether. "It is ironic that Einstein's most creative work, the general theory of relativity, should boil down to conceptualizing space as a medium when his original premise [in special relativity] was that no such medium existed [..] The word 'ether' has extremely negative connotations in theoretical physics because of its past association with opposition to relativity. This is unfortunate because, stripped of these connotations, it rather nicely captures the way most physicists actually think about the vacuum. . . . Relativity actually says nothing about the existence or nonexistence of matter pervading the universe, only that any such matter must have relativistic symmetry. [..] It turns out that such matter exists. About the time relativity was becoming accepted, studies of radioactivity began showing that the empty vacuum of space had spectroscopic structure similar to that of ordinary quantum solids and fluids. Subsequent studies with large particle accelerators have now led us to understand that space is more like a piece of window glass than ideal Newtonian emptiness. It is filled with 'stuff' that is normally transparent but can be made visible by hitting it sufficiently hard to knock out a part. The modern concept of the vacuum of space, confirmed every day by experiment, is a relativistic ether. But we do not call it this because it is taboo." - Robert B. Laughlin, Nobel Laureate in Physics, endowed chair in physics, Stanford University "According to the general theory of relativity space without ether is unthinkable; for in such space there not only would be no propagation of light, but also no possibility of existence for standards of space and time (measuring-rods and clocks), nor therefore any space-time intervals in the physical sense." - Albert Einstein The relativistic ether referred to by Laughlin is the ether which propagates light referred to by Einstein. What waves in a double slit experiment is the relativistic ether of general relativity.

The maths do not describe the physical phenomena. The maths to do describe what occurs physically in nature. You can say what you like about physics but the fact you can not differentiate between the maths and what actually occurs physically in nature in a double slit experiment is evidence physics is not working. What physically waves in a double slit experiment?
-
Do maths wave? Do maths physically exist? In a double slit experiment the aether physically waves.
-
The maths define what is physically probable of being observed. The maths define what is physically possible of being observed. The maths do not describe what is occurring physically in nature. The maths do not describe what is occurring physically in nature in a double slit experiment. Do maths physically wave? Do maths physically exists? Of course not. The aether physically exists. The aether physically waves. In a double slit experiment it is the aether which waves.

I'm sorry but your understanding of what physical means is flawed. The following is a correct physical explanation of what occurs physically in nature in a double slit experiment. A particle physically displaces the aether. A moving particle has an associated aether displacement wave. In a double slit experiment the particle enters and exits a single slit. It is the associated wave in the aether which enters and exits both slits. As the aether wave exits the slits it creates wave interference. As the particle exits a single slit the direction it travels is altered by the wave interference. This is the wave piloting the particle of pilot-wave theory. Strongly detecting the particle turns the associated aether wave into chop. The particle gets knocked around by the chop and continues on the path it is traveling. In a double slit experiment it is the aether which physically waves. Maths do not physically exist. Maths do not physically wave. What physically waves in a double slit experiment? Maths? Of course not. The aether physically waves.

As I thought. You can't. How is it you think you know so much and mainstream physics is so correct when you can't explain something as simple as what occurs physically in nature in a double slit experiment? 'Quantum mechanics rule 'bent' in classic experiment' http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-13626587 'For his part, Professor Steinberg believes that the result reduces a limitation not on quantum physics but on physicists themselves. I understand a moving particle has an associated aether displacement wave. I understand in a double slit experiment the particle travels through a single slit and the associated wave in the aether passes through both. Can someone explain the accepted mainstream explanation of what occurs physically in nature in a double slit experiment so I can be better off?
-
That's not what I am saying at all. I am saying the fact that mainstream physics accepts the notion that particles exist in an infinite number of universes simultaneously (many-worlds) means mainstream physics is completely screwed up. You are not better off learning something as absurd as many-worlds. The fact that many-worlds is an accepted theory shows how incredibly screwed up mainstream physics is. This is very simple. If mainstream physics is on the right track and we are better off learning accepted theories such as many-worlds then you should be able to explain what occurs physically in nature in a double slit experiment. The fact that you can't explain something as simple as what occurs physically in nature in a double slit experiment yet accept we are better off just accepting the accepted theories is evidence of how screwed up mainstream physics is. In other words, you're making my point.
-
By "better off" it means not thinking for yourself. It means believing in absurd nonsense such as particles exist in an infinite number of universes instead of understanding the obvious.

'NASA's Voyager Hits New Region at Solar System Edge' http://www.nasa.gov/home/hqnews/2011/dec/HQ_11-402_AGU_Voyager.html "Voyager is showing that what is outside is pushing back. ... Like cars piling up at a clogged freeway off-ramp, the increased intensity of the magnetic field shows that inward pressure from interstellar space is compacting it." It is not the particles of matter which exist in quantities less than in any vacuum artifically created on Earth which are pushing back and exerting inward pressure toward the solar system. It is the aether, which the particles of matter exist in, which is the interstellar medium. It is the aether which is displaced by the matter the solar system consists of which is pushing back and exerting inward pressure toward the solar system.

You said, "Our best models within their relevant domains match the observations". In a double slit experiment the particle is always observed entering, traveling through and exiting a single slit. If the particle is not strongly detected what is observed is an interference pattern. What is not observed is the particle traveling an infinite number of paths simultaneously or not existing until it is detected or existing in many worlds simultaneously. When you say the best models match the observations of a double slit experiment which model are you referring to? Copenhagen? Many worlds? Consistent theories? Ensamble? de Broglie-Bohm theory? Relational quantum mechanics? There are more models but you get the point. The only model which matches observations is de Broglie-Bohm where there is a moving physical particle and a physical wave.
-
What is observed is the particle always enters, travels through and exits a single slit in a double slit experiment. If detectors are placed at the entrances, anywhere within, or at the exits to the slits the particle is always detected entering, traveling through and exiting a single slit. This is physical evidence the particle always travels through a single slit. Q. Why is the particle always detected entering, traveling through and exiting a single slit in a double slit experiment? A. The particle always enters, travels through and exits a single slit. It is the associated wave in the aether which passes through both.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Casimir_effect#Vacuum_energy "a "field" in physics may be envisioned as if space were filled with interconnected vibrating balls and springs, and the strength of the field can be visualized as the displacement of a ball from its rest position" A 'field' in physics is space filled with aether and the strength of the field is the displacement of the aether from its rest position. Each of the plates in the Casimir effect displace the aether. The displaced aether which exists between the plates is pushing back toward each of the plates which causes the aether displaced by each of the plates which exists between the plates to offset. This aether is more at rest than the aether which is displaced by the plates which encompasses the plates. The reduced force associated with the aether which exists between the plates along with the displaced aether which encompasses the plates which is pushing back and exerting inward pressure toward the plates causes the plates to be forced together. What occurs physically in nature in the Casimir effect is the same phenomenon as gravity. There is no such thing as non-baryonic dark matter. Aether has mass and physically occupies three dimensional space. Aether is physically displaced by matter. Displaced aether pushing back and exerting inward pressure toward matter is gravity.

The Michelson-Morley experiment looked for an absolutely stationary space the Earth moves through. The aether is not an absolutely stationary space. Aether is displaced by particles of matter. Watch the following video starting at 0:45 to see a visual representation of the state of the aether. What is referred to as a twist in spacetime is the state of displacement of the aether. What is referred to as frame-dragging is the state of displacement of the aether. The analogy is putting a mesh bag full of marbles into a supersolid and spinning the bag of marbles. If you were unable to determine if the superfluid consists of particles you would still be able to detect the state of displacement of the supersolid. The supersolid connected to and neighboring the mesh bag of marbles is in the same state throughout the rotation of the bag in the supersolid. The aether connected to and neighboring the Earth is in the same state, or almost the same state, throughout the Earth's rotation about its axis and orbit of the Sun. The state of which as determined by its connections with the Earth and the state of the aether in neighboring places is the state of displacement of the aether.

'Was the universe born spinning?' http://physicsworld.com/cws/article/news/46688 "The universe was born spinning and continues to do so around a preferred axis" The Universe spins around a preferred axis because the Universe is, or the local Universe we exist in is in, a jet; a larger version of a black hole polar jet. 'Mysterious Cosmic 'Dark Flow' Tracked Deeper into Universe' http://www.nasa.gov/centers/goddard/news/releases/2010/10-023.html "The clusters appear to be moving along a line extending from our solar system toward Centaurus/Hydra, but the direction of this motion is less certain. Evidence indicates that the clusters are headed outward along this path, away from Earth, but the team cannot yet rule out the opposite flow. "We detect motion along this axis, but right now our data cannot state as strongly as we'd like whether the clusters are coming or going," Kashlinsky said." The clusters are headed along this path because the Universe is, or the local Universe we exist in is in, a jet. The following is an image analogous of the Universal jet. http://aether.lbl.gov/image_all.html The reason for the 'expansion' of the universe is the continual emission of aether into the Universal jet. Three dimensional space associated with the Universe itself is not expanding. What we see in our telescopes is the matter associated with the Universe moving outward and away from the Universal jet emission point. In the image above, '1st Stars' is where aether condenses into matter. Dark energy is aether emitted into the Universal jet. It's not the Big Bang; it's the Big Ongoing.

de Broglie wave mechanics is the precursor to pilot-wave theory. This is the best article I have found which describes what waves as a "hidden medium". 'Interpretation of quantum mechanics by the double solution theory - Louis de BROGLIE' http://aflb.ensmp.fr/AFLB-classiques/aflb124p001.pdf “When in 1923-1924 I had my first ideas about Wave Mechanics I was looking for a truly concrete physical image, valid for all particles, of the wave and particle coexistence discovered by Albert Einstein in his "Theory of light quanta". I had no doubt whatsoever about the physical reality of waves and particles.” “any particle, even isolated, has to be imagined as in continuous “energetic contact” with a hidden medium” The hidden medium of de Broglie wave mechanics is the aether. The “energetic contact” is the state of displacement of the aether. A moving particle has an associated aether displacement wave. In a double slit experiment the particle travels a well defined path which takes it through one slit. The associated wave in the aether passes through both. As the aether wave exits the slits it creates wave interference. As the particle exits a single slit the direction it travels is altered by the wave interference. The aether waves exiting the slits interact with the detectors and become many short waves with irregular motion. The waves are disorganized. There is no wave interference. The particle pitches and rolls through the chop. The particle gets knocked around by the chop and it no longer creates an interference pattern.

Yeah, I wanna talk about the aether.

What is referred to as the curvature of spacetime is the state of displacement of the aether. Since the geometrical representation of gravity as the curvature of spacetime physically exists in nature as the state of displacement of the aether the mathematics of general relativity apply. The Milky Way's halo is the state of displacement of the aether. The Milky Way's halo is what is referred to as the curvature of spacetime. Displaced aether pushing back and exerting inward pressure toward matter is gravity. The best article I have found is the one describing the 'back reaction' of the "fluidic" nature of space itself. An Extended Dynamical Equation of Motion, Phase Dependency and Inertial Backreaction' http://arxiv.org/abs/1208.3458 "We hypothesize that space itself resists such surges according to a kind of induction law (related to inertia); additionally, we provide further evidence of the “fluidic” nature of space itself." The aether is, or behaves similar to, a superfluid with properties of a solid, a supersolid, which is described in the article as the 'fluidic' nature of space itself. The 'back-reaction' described in the article is the displaced aether pushing back and exerting inward pressure toward the matter. The following article describes the aether as an incompressible fluid resulting in what the article refers to as gravitational aether caused by pressure (or vorticity). 'Phenomenology of Gravitational Aether as a solution to the Old Cosmological Constant Problem' http://arxiv.org/abs/1106.3955 "One proposal to address this puzzle at the semi-classical level is to decouple quantum vacuum from space-time geometry via a modification of gravity that includes an incompressible fluid, known as Gravitational Aether. In this paper, we discuss classical predictions of this theory along with its compatibility with cosmological and experimental tests of gravity. We argue that deviations from General Relativity (GR) in this theory are sourced by pressure or vorticity." The following article describes gravity as a pressure exerted by aether toward matter. 'The aether-modified gravity and the G ̈del metric' http://arxiv.org/pdf/1109.5654v2 "As for the pressure, it is equal to p = 53−αg,6a2 so, it is positive if αg < 3 which is the weaker condition than the previous one. One notes that the results corresponding to the usual gravity are easily recovered. Also, it is easy to see that the interval αg < 15 corresponds to the usual matter." The following article describes a gravitating vacuum where aether is the quantum vacuum of the 21-st century. 'From Analogue Models to Gravitating Vacuum' http://arxiv.org/pdf/1111.1155 "The aether of the 21-st century is the quantum vacuum, which is a new form of matter. This is the real substance"
