  1. Ummm, we have actual physical samples of asteroids to test for their content...
  2. My condolences, I become very attached to my fish as well...
  3. The problem isn't that you believe these things the problem is you believe with no evidence... Who says the universe came from nothing other the hype of popular media? Again, how do you know that, there is no reason unicorns cannot exist yet they do not... Again you definition of dominion needs and explanation. Microscopic life not only out numbers ud, it out masses us as well. And if microbes were to fie everything else would as well... Citations please, simply asserting it is less than convincing. Evolution via natural selection is how we got here, no need for a "higher" being... It is indeed speculative and highly improbable. Evidence of god would appear to be completely absent...
  4. I guess it could be voluntary to give nonsense respect. But in many cases respect is defined as following their rules, not simply live and let live. I know Muslims, my next door neighbors are muslim, good people but even they admit that religion cannot be allowed to demand respect from others who do not share their belief... It's legal for them to harang me when I walk down the street yet I cannot respond to them? Again I am not suggesting anyone do this or has done this, just an extreme example. So they get to disrespect me by interrupting my day by trying sell me on nonsense? What do you think the reaction would be if I went around knocking on doors trying to convince people there is no god? Here in the south you would be likely to get my ass kicked if not a buck shot enima. You seem to be confusing religion with reasonable behavior... I would think you occasionally watch a news source, cutting someone's head off because the disrespected Islam is just one tiny reaction of islam to disrespect. You are correct but when religion puts it's nose into government, education, and my personal business by demanding respect they do not deserve I get concerned. My respect is reserved for individuals not beliefs, if you believe god said to kill and eat homeless people I would say that person has lost his rights if not his mind. My rights end where yours begin, but to try and force your beliefs on others because their imaginary friend gets butt hurt if you insult him is not freedom of speech or respect. If I stood on a street corner expounding on the non existence of god I would be told to stop and arrested if I did not. Why does religion get a pass? Where i live the first thing a stranger asks you is where do you go to church, if you simply you do not you can expect a lecture on why you should go to their church. Say that you are an atheist and risk drawing a hostile crowd. If I am required to respect a belief then my freedom is being violated...
  5. The only way to assure respect is indeed blasphemy laws. In the US if I was to harangue a street corner christian I would have that right. If I was in a restaurant that run by christians and they expected me to say grace and i refused because I thought it was a fairy tale that would be disrespect. When a particular religion comes to my door to bring me the good news i can tell them to take their fairy tales shove it where the sun doesn't shine and get off my property. If I was required to respect them that would obviously be disrespect. Islam considers anyone who doesn't follow their laws disrespect, a muslim following islamic law would consider a woman in a skirt with her hair not covered disrespect. A billboard that showed a woman in a bikini would be disrespectful to Islam, do we stop such bill boards to save Islam's fragile feelings? As i said earlier, I respect individuals not beliefs, there are people that believe anyone who doesn't believe the way they do should be killed. Do I have to respect that belief? The number of horrid things people believe is long and sad, the only thing I can respect is their ability to keep it to themselves..
  6. If we do not expand into space the extinction of the human race is inevitable. The Earth is going to die, the Sun will expand and kill everyone and everything, it cannot be avoided. Space colonies will allow us to exist for trillions of years, perhaps long enough to stop the heat death of the universe...
  7. In the US I do not have to respect Islam or any other religion, I can say anything I want about any belief. Once respect is required, ie blasphemy laws, we lose freedom of speech. If you are a Mormon, and I claim the LDS church is bullshit but the law requires i respect their beliefs I have lost freedom of speech. No religion is automatically respected except by laws that require it. If a law requires i respect your belief in anything I have lost freedom of thought and speech...
  8. Why should Islam be respected? That is the place to start. If islam is to be respected then the rights of others must be taken away, I respect people not beliefs, anything can be believed...
  9. The only honest answer to that question is we do not know. Anything else is not honest. Deep thinking is not a path to truth, only repeatable demonstrable evidence will do that. I am ignoring nothing, I am simply not making claims about something I cannot possibly know... Define ORIGINATORS, what is the evidence for these originators? HUMANS are animals, please show me a definitive way humans are not animals. Animals cannot be shown to be any less than humans in any absolute way. Microbes rule the planet, they make life possible, no microbes: no plants or animals. You are made up of mostly microbes, take away all the microbes in your body and death is swift and sure. I have no idea what you are saying here, the LHC has nothing to do with Gods... Citation please, I have never heard that seriously claimed for any source. Personal experiences? Personal experiences are meaningless unless you can show them to someone else. I had an experience last night, sleep paralysis no doubt, but I was in the past at a place where i used to work talking to people and trying to explain to them why what was happening wasn't real because the place no longer existed. Very real, complex conversations with others in the dream, I could smell, hear, touch, still meaningless in the grand theme of things... World history? Citation please Relationships? Citation please. Artifacts? Citation please You don't get to just claim that stuff with no evidence, they are not evidence they are claims that require evidence! I can go right now and talk to someone who claims aliens are abducting them every night, first had accounts, far better evidence than historical claims about things that supposedly happened millenia ago yet you would have me give these claims creedence?
  10. Mike, there is no reason to assume god, any god, asking what came before the big bang is like asking what is south of the south pole. If there was a cause for the universe it doesn't have to be a god or any entity anymore than an uranium atom has to have an intelligence to tell it when to dekay. I see no reason to assume a god is needed or even possible. Order can arise from chaos, crystals form without an intelligence to tell them how. More importantly we have no idea what happened at T=0, the math breaks down before we get to the point. There are some speculations but none of them require any intelligence... I'll ask you again for evidence of anything you are asserting, if you have none then we are just spinning our wheels...
  11. Mike, you have provided no evidence of a hierarchy, no evidence of a chain, no evidence of a god that poofed out of nothing, in fact the idea that there was at one time nothing is simply baseless assertion. Please Mike, provide some evidence of these things... Lower life forms is a meaningless assertion, how do you decide what is lower or higher?
  12. My point would be that god has to be more complex than the universe he or it created. It still leaves us with who created god
  13. http://fortune.com/2015/07/20/asteroid-precious-metals/ http://sitn.hms.harvard.edu/flash/2016/precious-metals-peril-can-asteroid-mining-save-us/ https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Asteroid_mining
  14. Ok Mike, this is the most ordered structure in the universe... https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Crystal
  15. No... Why should I?
  16. No, in fact it says nothing of the sort! For all we know the universe is the way it because it could not be any other way. We currently have no idea where the universe came from and some would say that is about as logical as asking what is south of the south pole... Who says the universe popped out of nowhere? Again you making baseless assumptions, just because a human can't do those things doesn't mean there has to have been an intelligent agent who can. Other than being meaningless speculation there is nothing wrong with that. No one I am aware of says that other than people who do not understand the science. Can there be a higher intelligence than humans, sure, there could be bigfoot's piloting UFO's too but it's so improbable as to be meaningless.. What if I was to show you the most ordered structure in the universe would you assume an intelligent agent built it?
  17. Mike, none of the "science" you have mentioned have anything to do with a hierarchy of an intelligence. And one more time why would you assume that individuals in a super civilization would be any more than just alien versions of us? Are you going to mention Noetic Science next?
  18. Another things that should be mentioned, and any military commander would know this, command of the high ground is of paramount importance. Space is the ultimate high ground, an iron nickel asteroid a 100 meters in diameter would be impossible to stop and destroy it's target with no radiation. Nudging such a body into an intercept orbit with Earth, yes a particular spot on the Earth would not be difficult to do and impossible to prove who if anyone did it... I know somewhere in the pentagon this thought is better than viagra to some...
  19. Please define what would be a step above us, it's bad enough to you continue to use the word hierarchy as though we all know what you are talking about. From my point of view no such hierarchy exists and you are moving the goalposts around at light speed. Goddamn particle Mike, it was originally called the goddamn particle. Please show some historical artifacts that are evidence of something "supernatural" and human testimony, especially hearsay testimony is worthless. Next you seem to be partial to the old god of the gaps idea which is just silly. What "fueled" the big bang is unknown possibly forever unknown but your speculation is no better than some brobdingnagian creature that eats dark matter and excretes universes and doesn't know it's own shit. The rest of this is just wishful speculation, as I have said earlier the power of a civilization says nothing about the individuals in it. Why do you continue to assume there is something called god? Have you any evidence other than a desire? And taking George Smoot's comments to mean what you want us to see is more than a bit dishonest..
  20. Mike, so many other animals do all the things you assert making a list would be long and tedious... And by the way, you seem to be asserting that the supernatural is a given when in fact it is nothing but baseless claims..
  21. As a primary motivation? What was the primary motivation for Columbus to sail to China? He failed and still succeeded. Serendipity is often a good thing, what we don't know can and often leads to technology we didn't even imagine. Mars as I have said is not inhabitable Antarctica is far more easily colonised. We already know asteroids contain huge amounts of useful elements in far greater concentration than the Earth's crust.. And again I say that the amount spent a year on ways to wipe out our population equals the amount spent in the last 50 years on space exploration. Economy has little to do with it, very little hardware must be lifted from Earth. All businesses must spend money to make money, manufacturing plants don't just jump out of the ground. All those things can be dealt with, in fact the very nature of rotating colonies requires those things be dealt with. Water storage tanks protect from radiation, debris can either be dealt with by lasers or the colony can be moved just enough to avoid impact. Essential equipment would either be built on site, what would be so complex that spare parts couldn't be made via 3D printing or simply carried along. Essential parts that couldn't be made on site would be carried by any intelligent colonists..
  22. I thank everyone who looked into this, since Przybylski's Star appears to be unique in it's transuranium elemental content, no other such star has been detected I thought investigation was warranted. While the video did indeed include aliens as a possible source I only included it for informational purposes not to assert "aliens" my bad, I apologise....
  23. Are you suggesting that elements heavier than uranium can the the decay kay products of lighter atoms?
  24. Unless the supernova occurred quite recently, and mean a few centuries, those isotopes should have decayed, some of them have half lives of hours. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Przybylski%27s_Star
  25. I agree, the idea of aliens dumping planetary masses of these elements in a star is difficult to understand but plutonium is not the only element detected. One at least has a half life so small the entire volume of the Earth is thought to contain less than the volume of a sugar cube at any one time. It's a mystery that, to me at least, would trigger research on a large scale. It's almost like finding an object on the moon shaped like a perfect rendition of human riding a horse statue. No way it could just be ignored. The more I look into it the stranger it becomes, but I can find little to no discussion of this star. This Star is unique in that no other star has been found with transuranic elements in it's atmosphere not to mention the low levels of metals like iron...
