I honestly think I have a fundamental right to defend my home, the police do not prevent crime, they investigate criminal acts. I gave up hand guns a long time ago, but I still have pump shot gun. It's reasonably safe, you have to turn off the safety and chamber a round before it will fire. It's not a toy, I do not take it out and put it on display, I clean it rather irregularly, it's a chore I do not enjoy. It is designed for close combat indoors, it could technically be used to hunt but the barrel is kinda short for that. This idea that it's ok to carry guns around in public is nuts, especially long guns. Hand guns are as common as flies on excrement around here. I seldom go to gas up that at least one person has a not so well concealed hand gun, it doesn't really bother me... I guess I am used to guns, for me it's matter of responsibility, shooting someone by accident would be a never ending nightmare. But carrying a rifle into Wendy's? Come on people, what is up with that? But if you break into my house you best be quick because I will shoot you... I will not like it, I will be forever remorseful but my house is where I draw the line..

I am going to go way out on a limb here and assume you do understand what the OT says?
-
I guess it's not arrogant to assume that someone who doesn't agree with you just doesn't fully understand...

I am not sure if they were introduced to the same cell or not but I do know the sequences were made from scratch, not just removed and put back in...

God didn't create me, my parents created me... I accuse you of being ignorant because you seem to have no idea what your own bible says. I have not accused you of being blind. Obviously the great flying spaghetti monster created you.. can you see how silly that is? It becomes no less silly if you replace the flying spaghetti monster with Krishna, or allah or zeus or jupiter or any other supernatural being. How can you possibly think that the fact that gods word must be interpreted is a strength? It might be a strength to someone who wants to use the bible to control and manipulate people to their own means. Not listening? Really? Talk about arrogance! My atheism is based on being a sceptic, it is based on years of reading and studying the bible and the people who claim it to be the truth. You are really grasping at straws now, if the bible is the word of god why musty it be interpreted? Why cannot it be read at face value? Oh wait, the Bible can be shown to be absolute bullshit if taken literally so you have to bend and twist the words to mean what ever you think it should mean. To be sure there are plenty of people willing to tell you what it means. How do you tell who is correct? Who ever agrees with you?
-
And you reveled the biggest flaw in theistic thinking, it can and is twisted to mean what ever anyone wants to mean...

No, nor do I pretend to know what should and should not be followed. The bible asserts that all of it should be followed, so very little of it can be shown to be true, and much of it can be shown to be false I see no reason to follow any of it..

So you take comfort in a delusion? Religion is not just a comfortable delusion. Religion causes calculable harm, up until the beginning of the enlightenment when secular governments gelded religion, from things like the divine right of kings to Jesus saying not to wash your hands religion has done a tremendous amount of harm. You are welcome to your beliefs as long as your beliefs do not require that you convert others or take rights away from people your religion tells you to. Religion has been the reason millions of people were and in some countries still are killed for simply not believing or for believing in a god or gods the people in power do not believe it. I have never seen religion do anything positive that could not be done by non religious humans. In many cases religion asserts that the believers should do harm to others. Keep your religion in your church and stop trying to govern the rest of us by the rules of your religion. Taxation of religious offerings would also be a good idea...

I am pretty sure no one is claiming this saves energy, it's one of those magnetically levitated toys modified so it can levitate a small potted plant... I think we need a font for sarcasm...

This how it started on Pandora, at first just small plants but floating mountains were the end result! https://twitter.com/designmilk/status/749849242051772420

Can you tell me which parts are true and which parts are allegorical?
-
If it could demonstrated that god doesn't exist maybe lots of believers would stop believing. That would stop believers who want to teach religion in our public schools, Maybe stop believers from passing laws that are based on their religion. No more street preachers would be a significant side effect...

Never said otherwise? You said the bible was literally true, flip flop much? If you take the OP literally in some sense I think you can indeed say that evil if the result of sentience, it takes sentience to decide if something is evil, with out sentience there can be no claim something is evil...

So who died and put you in charge of deciding what part of the bible were correct and what parts are not correct? I do not see how you can assert that the old testament no longer holds sway, as I said if the old testament no longer holds sway then you lose the creation story, original sin, any need to for give said original sin. I gave you parts of the NT that simply are not true, from supporting slavery to dead saints walking around Jerusalem, the hours of total darkness, the earth quake, none of those things happened. If they had happened sources other than the bible would have written about them. Jesus flatly says that some of his apostles would still be alive when he returned. The bible is not evidence of anything, it is the claim that requires evidence and Jesus did indeed claim things that simply were not true, from disease being caused by demons to telling people not to wash their hands. As John said, Jesus said under no uncertain terms that the old laws still had to be followed. I have read the bible in it's entirety several times, the bible claims all sorts of nonsense, it's why there has to be apologetics to explain the bible..
-
Are you asserting that the Old Testament can be ignored? If you ignore the Old testament then you lose original sin and the need for a savoir... You lose the Ten commandments, of which only three have anything to do with sin anyway. Having said that the NT has it's own problems, from Jesus asserting that he would return within the life time of his apostles to many things happening that should have been recorded but were not, like the dead saints getting up out of their tombs to walk the street of Jerusalem to hours of complete darkness during his crucifixion to earth quakes. None of which were recorded by the people of that time. The Romans kept good records, if those things had happened they would have been noticed I am quite sure... Jesus himself was supposed to have said that all the laws of the old testament would not change.

I am curious, between murder, rape, genocide, slavery, sex slavery, sex slavery of underage girls, bigotry, pillage, and the portrayal of God as a jealous vindictive monster what do you think there is to learn?

I have read of the multi dimensional bulk space our universe's membrane is embedded within, not sure how much of that is horse apples though...

You are forgiven, I never take this stuff personally, life is too short for that...

Well the Pope says that the bible is allegorical in much of what it says, the Pope says evolution is true and creationism is absurd...
