I am 61 years old, I grew up on a farm, you are not that special...
-
You keep spouting nonsense that the Pope has said wasn't true...
-
Pointing out your ignorance of the issues is not insulting you...
-
So your stance is better than your own Pope? I have no problem taking the heat, how about you build a fire instead of taking about starting one...
-
Your assertions so far have been very thin on facts, give me some factual evidence supporting your stance and I'll support you. Just because you are a little boy doesn't mean i have to go easy on you...
-
You have a lot to learn, I support reality, anyone who takes a stance not consistent with the evidence is in my cross hairs. Their belief or lack of belief in the supernatural is not relevant..
-
I gave you a plus, do you really expect people to support you when they don't agree with you? Theistically you are in a minority, theists do not have to dismiss reality to be Christian, nor do they have to agree with you. You are taking a fundie stance that even your own religious leaders do not support. Quit whining, if you can't run with the big dogs stay on the porch..
-
Again with the ad hominem attacks? I do not follow you around as much as I follow ignorance...
-
Why do you continue to attempt to defend the indefensible? Why do you think your ideas should be given a free pass? If you are interested in science why do you continue to attempt to justify bronze age mythology as descriptive of reality? Stick to the science and simply ignore the mythology, you have your beliefs, no one is saying you cannot believe what ever you want, but in science belief is meaningless, only what can be shown to have evidence is allowed to be asserted in science...
-
Again you make baseless assertions about things you obviously do not understand...
-
I think we can do without the ad hominem attacks, it shows just how hollow your arguments really are... I would agree, I think everyone should be free to believe in what they want, asserting it as true with out evidence is what i object to..

I often wonder how artists feel about someone covering their songs and doing it better than they do. Heart did and or does cover lots of Led Zeppelin songs. Hearts rendition of Stairway to Heaven moved Jimmy Page to tears during a tribute to Led Zeppelin a couple years ago. Ann Wilson likes to sing Led Zeppelin tunes and her voice is difficult fault...

If you do not care why do you continue to try and prove your assertions are true? I am not sure no god exists I simply do not think there is any evidence a god does exist and the rational response to a lack of evidence is not to believe...
-
Again you make an assertion that does not stand up to the reality of the situation, there is very little if any evidence that bigfoot exists and a huge number of reasons to think it does not exist. There is no empirical evidence that god exists and if you think I should quit showing how baseless your assertions are I would suggest you stop making such nonsensical arguments to try and support your beliefs. I care not what you believe, why do you care that i do not? Why should i stop making objections to your assertions? Maybe you should stop making assertions that bronze age mythology is true... Bigfoot gives me comfort, gives me a purpose to live, gives me a strong moral foundation to live my life by...

I very much wish we all could get beautiful and peaceful days, as long as people think they have the right to force others to believe the same way they do it is unlikely we will see and end to the violence. We must continue to be vigilant and stand up for the rights of the individual as long as those rights do not impinge on the rights of anyone else. It is a complex issue, respecting the rights of others seems to be difficult idea to grasp for many people. Most holy books assert that everyone must be converted to that particular flavor of theism. It is a problem we must get past as a people, as a civilization, I often have doubts it will wever happen...
-
So far your beliefs have failed to have any basis in reality, what does that tell you?
-
Technically life has been created in a lab already, DNA assembled from scratch has been used to make a living cell...

You keep putting the cart in front of the horse, it's not up to anyone to prove god does not exist, it's up to theists to prove he does. If something cannot shown to exist the rational way forward is to not believe. I cannot prove that fairies do not exist, that doesn't mean i should believe they do exist. I cannot prove bigfoot does not exist would you say we must believe there is a bigfoot for that reason? To assert something exists requires evidence of that something. And there is another problem as well, god is not just a simple assumption, it is an extraordinary claim. Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence and proving a negative is impossible. You cannot prove i do not have a talking dog, does that mean you should believe i do have a talking dog?

A recent NASA video asserted that a somewhat bigger than earth planet with a thick hydrogen atmosphere could maintain a surface temp high enough to allow liquid water oceans even drifting among the stars with no sun. It would be a planet type we don't see in our solar system... maybe 8 to 10 earth masses... twice the diameter of the earth. Radioactive decay would keep the core hot and the heat would diffuse to the surface. A large moon would also help create heat energy. surface pressure of 100 bar or so. chemical energy like the black smokers hydrothermal vents mentioned above. It would be a very strange place. I wonder if the hydrogen atmosphere could also be used as an energy source. Photosynthesis breaks apart water to get hydrogen, possibly that reaction wouldn't be necessary to get hydrogen on such a planet.

For UK readers of a certain generation it is time to mourn
Moontanman replied to imatfaal's topic in The Lounge
It's interesting to me that everyone seems to want to get back to some imaginary time and place no matter what that time and place were really like. I guess we remember the good and forget the bad. I remember some childhood shows that few others seem to think of. Some of them were produced in or near the place I grew up. Mr. Cartoon aka Steamboat Bill and Merlin the Sea monster, Soupy Sales. Brings back some good memories of good times, somehow the trials and tribulations of that time are quite a bit less clear... -
Sounds like you have the right idea!
