So... "you don't understand" means it's supernatural? And i asked for a citation, not a idea of where I should go to verify your assertions, if it says what you claim in the bible then cite chapter and verse, i assure you I am quite capable of looking things up in the bible, but you made the assertion i asked you to show it to me. I say prove it, I am unaware of any passage in the places you suggested that say anything about that.

So only humans have consciousness? Please show some support for these assertions I have underlined. Circular thinking? ONLY KNOWN THINGS CAN BE REAL? Who suggested that? I suggested that in the face of lack of empirical the default position is what ever you are asserting does not exist. many things once thought to be supernatural have fallen into reality because they had observable effects and those effects can be tested empirically. No, this is a false assertion, now you are just spinning tales out of horse feathers, please explain how any of this has anything to do with the SUPERNATURAL...

I wonder if this is true, let's say i went back in time bought the winning lottery ticket, assuming of course my mere presence in the past wouldn't cause new numbers to be drawn, how many lotteries could I win before my winning changed the outcome of all lottery draws? My guess is that the future is so fluid that a time traveler would have an ever expanding influence on the timeline as he continued to exist and that it wouldn't take long until things like lottery draws would be just as unpredictable as they had been in my future.

Ok, do you have the key?

gees, you do realize that the number of people who believe something to be true has no bearing on it's veracity don't you? the other things you mention are not proof of anything but you or others belief in what they mean. This might indeed be the philosophy section but positive assertions need to be backed up by positive evidence...

Here is the info about hydrogen planets, the graph is around 20:00. Isaac Asimov proposed a photosynthesis driven saturation unsaturation cycle in a hydrogen atmosphere.

Actually Boron chemistry is at least as complex as Carbon chemistry but it does suffer from being rare. Boron forms "bucky balls" like Carbon as well, an interesting fact since carbons "unique" chemical flexibility allows it to do so. I am going to say before i go on that i would be amazed if life turned up not based on carbon. http://www.daviddarling.info/encyclopedia/B/boron-based_life.html The life chemistry we know would indeed be slow at the temps of liquid ammonia but it's conceivable that more unstable molecules would be stable at lower temps and more suitable to life. Silicon, not silicone, could be a possible life element in liquid methane, in fact some speculation has been bandied about around this and Titan. Silanes are more stable at low temps and would dissolve in methane quite easily. Of course there are many possibilities I think this could very well be possible even if it was carbon based life. We simply don't know... Planets with deep hydrogen atmospheres but not gas giants could be suitable for life quite far out from a star, hydrogen is a very good greenhouse gas and a super terrestrial planet could hold a hydrogen atmosphere. I disagree and so does NASA... I saw a video a few days ago about this, i was surprised to find out that super terrestrial planets with hydrogen atmospheres could support liquid water out to the orbit of jupiter, this would not be a gas or ice giant but a large Earth type planet with a mostly hydrogen atmosphere. This would be hospitable to life as organisms on the earth metabolize hydrogen. I'll see if i can find the article, it was very interesting, an eye opener to me. This site has a list of possibilities, rather speculative but still interesting... http://www.daviddarling.info/encyclopedia/A/alternative_forms_of_life.html

Rrriiiiinnnnggg, rrriiiinnnngg, 'Hello?' 'Hi honey. This is Daddy. Is Mommy near the phone?' 'No, Daddy. She's upstairs in the bedroom with Uncle Paul.' ***After a brief pause, Daddy says, 'But honey, you haven't got an Uncle Paul.' 'Oh yes I do, and he's upstairs in the bedroom with Mommy, Right now.' Brief Pause. 'Uh, okay then, this is what I want you to do. Put the phone down on the table, run upstairs And knock on the bedroom door and shout to Mommy That Daddy's car just pulled into the driveway.' 'Okay, Daddy, Just a minute.' A few minutes later The little girl comes back to the phone. 'I did it, Daddy.' 'And what happened, honey?' 'Well, Mommy got all scared, jumped out of bed with no clothes on and ran around screaming. Then she tripped over the rug, hit her head on the dresser And now she isn't moving at all!' 'Oh my God!!! What about your Uncle Paul?' 'He jumped out of the bed with no clothes on, too. He was all scared and he jumped out of the back window And into the swimming pool. But I guess he didn't know that you took out the water Last week to clean it. He hit the bottom of the pool and I think he's dead.' Long Pause Longer Pause Even Longer Pause Then Daddy says, 'Swimming pool? ........... Is this 486-5731?' No, I think you have the wrong number.........

Ok, unique take on god but since i don't see any reason why there has to be one I can go with that. I see no way you can support such a wild claim... There are other theories and your depiction of the big bang is more than a bit of a strawman don't you think? Citation needed, this is not mainstream science and as such needs to be supported by something other than your claims. Again these are not the only hypothesis and the origins theory suggests no such thing... Empirically verifiable? Really? A conscious mind independent of time, space, and matter somehow connected with dark energy... I offered to review your book and point out it's logical fallacies separately and in detail, should have taken my offer dude...

How do you connect the reflector to the engine and inhabited modules? A solar sail which your diagram resembles drags the module behind it so tensioned carbon fiber would light and strong but pushing that mirror seems to be a significant problem...

No one has be able to generate antigravity and the theory of gravity has problems, the first one that come to mind it is doesn't mesh with quantum mechanics. I honestly don't understand what you are trying to assert here. http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2013/06/130619195137.htm?utm_source=feedburner&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=Feed%3A+sciencedaily%2Fstrange_science+%28ScienceDaily%3A+Strange+Science+News%29&utm_content=Yahoo%21+Mail The mysteries of the brain are falling to empirical science. I wouldn't bet the farm that consciousness will remain a mystery much longer... A citation is needed for this, that assertion is not mainstream science. Since the land surface of the Earth also experiences tides I think that is a big problem for your idea... Truly this is word salad, it makes no sense... A citation please. Millions of people think aliens are abducting people from their bedrooms to give them an anal probe, does this make it part of reality? Science knows it doesn't know everything... otherwise it would stop... I am familiar with this subject, it has been many years but the evidence is entirely subjective and not empirical. I would like you to consider that OCD could be the source of superstition, give it somr thought...

The Real Origin of The Scientific Method Is Religious
Moontanman replied to Dbaiba's topic in Religion
Seriously Dbaiba, just for a moment try to see this from my perspective, I can give you probably hundreds of articles written by supposedly knowledgeable men that there is an alien base on the far side of the moon. Many articles have been written supported by photos and logical assertions about the value of such a base to aliens. And it is logical, a base on the far side of the moon would allow secretive surveillance and quick access to the Earth... Does this mean such a base is real? Should we be looking? Should we be spending millions of dollars trying to find that base? Is it logical to believe this idea? Wouldn't you require some positive evidence of it's existence? That's I where you stand, you are making a highly unlikely assertion, it needs to be backed up by positive evidence not just what other people claim is true... -

Do you understand that an appeal to authority is not considered evidence? You need to show the scripture that supports your contention, not list people who agree with your assertions... -

has it ever occured to you that positive claims need positive evidence and not baseless assertions? -
Richard Dawkin's God Delusion, I could not read it
Moontanman replied to CosmosCranium's topic in Religion
You cannot disprove that i am a centaur either, does that mean you have to believe I am a centaur? You have been asked several times to give examples of this, you have failed to do so. so you keep asserting but yet you give no examples, the flying spaghetti monster will be displeased, Never mess with the Pastafarians... do you not see the irony in your stance on this? Projection much? If only... -
I am an empirical rationalist, I remain open to possibilities but evidence is required, simply because i don't know something is not reason enough to consider it to real. It must have reasonable evidence of it's existence. I cannot prove there are no centaurs but i can be reasonably sure there is no evidence of their existence and so cannot be considered part of objective reality. I have considered the supernatural for very nearly 60 years and absolutely no sign if it has ever been brought to my attention other than baseless claims unsupported by anything of substance. I am more than willing to discuss the supernatural but claiming it has substance with no evidence is not a honest discussion...

Moontanman replied to Ophiolite's topic in Trash Can
No the assertion is there is no evident impact, if there was it could and would be investigated, now you are just playing word games because you know have nothing... very sad... -
Mind alteringly awesome, I hope to live long enough to see this possibility come to fruition....

Moontanman replied to Ophiolite's topic in Trash Can
No, I am not demanding proof of the supernatural simply some evidence for it, you have provided none... I'll make it easy for you, you have put words in my mouth several times so i will return the favor, your religious texts contain demonstrably false information, if you believe it anyway then you are delusional by definition. On the other hand I do not believe anything that does not have empirical evidence to back it up, the need for evidence scales up with the grandeur of the claim, your claims have zero evidence and nearly infinite grandeur... delusional by definition... -
Thread derailment - Richard Dawkin's God Delusion, I could not read it
Moontanman replied to Ophiolite's topic in Trash Can
You have been told many times, empirical evidence is required for something to be part of perceptible reality. Simply believing something is not evidence of anything but your belief. If it has some impact it could be investigated, when earthquakes, volcanoes, and lightning were thought to be supernatural they still had perceptible effects on reality. Eventually naturalistic explanations provided answers the assumption of the supernatural could not do. As far as i know there is currently no effect on reality that cannot be explained by naturalistic methods but if there were I would still be looking for a natural explanation instead of "god did it" because so far the track record of "god did it" is zero successes... I expect an example of the supernatural, you keep making that claim, the claim that you can demonstrate the supernatural or give some example but so far it is all talk and no substance... you believe the Quran is the inerrant word of god? Am I correct? -
Richard Dawkin's God Delusion, I could not read it
Moontanman replied to CosmosCranium's topic in Religion
Truly Dbaiba's arguments are exactly what the God Delusion is about, it's very difficult to see your own delusion, once you do the world is never the same again but that first step is so very difficult when your mind is infected with the god meme... once you believe that belief becomes the center of your reality but it is only real inside your own head which is of course the most influential part of reality... until you step in front of that bus then the external reality reasserts itself but you no longer exist to realise it... -
MY question is how do you remove it, it is us...
