Interesting, that is an aquarium plant I often grow..
-
So you think because i don't believe the bible I never read it/
-
No, learning is about facts and reality, not making things up out of whole cloth to support your world view... It's a fairly common assumption in religious circles but it is nonetheless not true. Appeals to authority and "what everyone knows" is horse feathers and spreading such nonsense as facts is wrong.. I'd like for you to back up your assertions with something besides your claims.. Gees, you underestimate me, I know what you asserted is simply not true, I knew it the first time you asserted it, that in of itself casts doubt on the veracity of all your anecdotal claims as well, anecdotal evidence is about as good as "everyone knows it's true" anyway anything that can be claimed with no evidence can be dismissed with no evidence... As far as wanting you to look it up... that would be my suggestion to you next time you claim things that everyone knows is true..

Gees, how about answering the question I posed in post #48 of this thread Gees, this is the fourth time I've asked Gees...

Disprove? Really njaohnt? Are we back to that yet again? How about you prove there is a god and show some actual evidence of his amazing power.

Gives mystery meat a whole new meaning...

I do have several vinyl half speed master discs, they were an attempt to expand the dynamic range of vinyl just before CDs began to be made. The sound is great but you have to have a cartridge and turntable capable of reproducing the sound before they became significant improvement (I do) but they still degrade over time just like any other vinyl album. But I still like the sound of my vinyl, I have several hundred of them, the ritual of cleaning the album each time it's played, the familiarity of the effort involved... I don't know hard to explain but i have just as many CDs as well (and laser discs and a laser disc player which to some extent can be the best of both worlds) The more I think of it the better it sounds but I still hope for the plant that has meat as fruit, lol Of course muscle cars were terrible for transportation but for profiling...

In the spirit of equal time I suggest you watch this somewhat more objective view of Burzynski... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QUkON5hkCTY Is there any chance you can let us know which plant you are talking about or is this hypothetical?

God is real or God is a myth about something real?
Moontanman replied to science4ever's topic in Religion
Hmmm, projection much? All I have ever heard my whole life is that religion has all the answers and yet they demonstrably have nothing science on the other hand has demonstrable results, our entire first world civilization is based on science, take it away and see how religion fails to prevent the deaths of billions as food, water, power and sewage treatment fails... yeah pray for the electricity to come back on... -
So I guess you prefer an electronic book to a nice leather bound book you can hold, smell and put on a shelf in your library to be experienced over and over? I have to admit to being a bit of a savage when it comes to meat but if it tasted good and had a decent texture and nutrition I could change my mind. Muscle cars... nope, modern cars just don't compare with the gut feeling of a muscle car, kinda like flying in a WW2 corsair or a learjet, one is for comfort the other is for the raw feeling of power, the vibration, the feeling of power than shakes your whole body. My uncles built muscle cars when i was young, nothing like the raw power, the noise of the mechanical parts of the engine, hearing the explosions of the pistons, the raw power of raising the front wheels in the air... apples and oranges i think...

Hey! I resemble that remark... I have often thought about the potential of genetically modified organisms to produce meat, can you imagine a banana like fruit that produces a shrimp tail instead of a banana? Or a chunk of crab meat or maybe beef but it will be a long time until we grow chicken breasts on plants i think, this is good start though...

Gees, this is the third time I've asked for some support for these assertions, you made the claim now you need to back it up. Simply stating something to be true is not enough, either show the specific scripture or withdraw the assertion... Quote Please show some support for these assertions I have underlined.

Maybe not... http://skeptoid.com/episodes/4365

So... "you don't understand" means it's supernatural? And i asked for a citation, not a idea of where I should go to verify your assertions, if it says what you claim in the bible then cite chapter and verse, i assure you I am quite capable of looking things up in the bible, but you made the assertion i asked you to show it to me. I say prove it, I am unaware of any passage in the places you suggested that say anything about that.

So only humans have consciousness? Please show some support for these assertions I have underlined. Circular thinking? ONLY KNOWN THINGS CAN BE REAL? Who suggested that? I suggested that in the face of lack of empirical the default position is what ever you are asserting does not exist. many things once thought to be supernatural have fallen into reality because they had observable effects and those effects can be tested empirically. No, this is a false assertion, now you are just spinning tales out of horse feathers, please explain how any of this has anything to do with the SUPERNATURAL...

I wonder if this is true, let's say i went back in time bought the winning lottery ticket, assuming of course my mere presence in the past wouldn't cause new numbers to be drawn, how many lotteries could I win before my winning changed the outcome of all lottery draws? My guess is that the future is so fluid that a time traveler would have an ever expanding influence on the timeline as he continued to exist and that it wouldn't take long until things like lottery draws would be just as unpredictable as they had been in my future.

Ok, do you have the key?
-
gees, you do realize that the number of people who believe something to be true has no bearing on it's veracity don't you? the other things you mention are not proof of anything but you or others belief in what they mean. This might indeed be the philosophy section but positive assertions need to be backed up by positive evidence...

Here is the info about hydrogen planets, the graph is around 20:00. Isaac Asimov proposed a photosynthesis driven saturation unsaturation cycle in a hydrogen atmosphere.

Actually Boron chemistry is at least as complex as Carbon chemistry but it does suffer from being rare. Boron forms "bucky balls" like Carbon as well, an interesting fact since carbons "unique" chemical flexibility allows it to do so. I am going to say before i go on that i would be amazed if life turned up not based on carbon. http://www.daviddarling.info/encyclopedia/B/boron-based_life.html The life chemistry we know would indeed be slow at the temps of liquid ammonia but it's conceivable that more unstable molecules would be stable at lower temps and more suitable to life. Silicon, not silicone, could be a possible life element in liquid methane, in fact some speculation has been bandied about around this and Titan. Silanes are more stable at low temps and would dissolve in methane quite easily. Of course there are many possibilities I think this could very well be possible even if it was carbon based life. We simply don't know... Planets with deep hydrogen atmospheres but not gas giants could be suitable for life quite far out from a star, hydrogen is a very good greenhouse gas and a super terrestrial planet could hold a hydrogen atmosphere. I disagree and so does NASA... I saw a video a few days ago about this, i was surprised to find out that super terrestrial planets with hydrogen atmospheres could support liquid water out to the orbit of jupiter, this would not be a gas or ice giant but a large Earth type planet with a mostly hydrogen atmosphere. This would be hospitable to life as organisms on the earth metabolize hydrogen. I'll see if i can find the article, it was very interesting, an eye opener to me. This site has a list of possibilities, rather speculative but still interesting... http://www.daviddarling.info/encyclopedia/A/alternative_forms_of_life.html

Rrriiiiinnnnggg, rrriiiinnnngg, 'Hello?' 'Hi honey. This is Daddy. Is Mommy near the phone?' 'No, Daddy. She's upstairs in the bedroom with Uncle Paul.' ***After a brief pause, Daddy says, 'But honey, you haven't got an Uncle Paul.' 'Oh yes I do, and he's upstairs in the bedroom with Mommy, Right now.' Brief Pause. 'Uh, okay then, this is what I want you to do. Put the phone down on the table, run upstairs And knock on the bedroom door and shout to Mommy That Daddy's car just pulled into the driveway.' 'Okay, Daddy, Just a minute.' A few minutes later The little girl comes back to the phone. 'I did it, Daddy.' 'And what happened, honey?' 'Well, Mommy got all scared, jumped out of bed with no clothes on and ran around screaming. Then she tripped over the rug, hit her head on the dresser And now she isn't moving at all!' 'Oh my God!!! What about your Uncle Paul?' 'He jumped out of the bed with no clothes on, too. He was all scared and he jumped out of the back window And into the swimming pool. But I guess he didn't know that you took out the water Last week to clean it. He hit the bottom of the pool and I think he's dead.' Long Pause Longer Pause Even Longer Pause Then Daddy says, 'Swimming pool? ........... Is this 486-5731?' No, I think you have the wrong number.........
