Reminds me a science fiction novel where the protagonists were mining the surface of a previously Jupiter class planet in orbit around a star that had gone super nova, the outer layers had been blown away and super heavy elements had been deposited on the surface of the remnant of the planet...

yes, please feel free to do that, you are being asked for no more than any one else is here. it went out? Yes, there have been many sightings that are totally inexplicable and not due to lack of data, some of these people make it difficult to dismiss sightings completely. While it is not proof of the extra terrestrial hypothesis it is true the US government has operated a disinformation campaign against the idea that UFOs are anything but nonsense since the disbanding of Project Sign... This has made it difficult for anyone to hold their credibility and do any real investigation of the phenomena, The Condon Report was a blatant example of this... The fix was in from the beginning... No thread here is ever closed because of some indeterminate fear of reality... An open mind doesn't mean you let every idea crawl inside your skull and take a dump... There are somethings that are difficult to explain, radar contacts and more than few photos as well as qualified eye witnesses but your hints of conspiracy need to be either substantiated or retracted. The question of what would constitute proof is not what is being asked of you, viable evidence is the correct way to state what is needed and it is reasonable question... A great many have already come forward... Some citation for these assertions is needed. Don't ask us to read a book, give us the reasons the book gives, if it's interesting enough it will get read... Citation is needed for this, there are other more prosaic explanations for the abduction phenomena...

The source of morality for theists and atheists
Moontanman replied to ewmon's topic in General Philosophy
Western morality is derived from law approved by the people, it's based on inherent human rights, not religion... Way to side step the issue, your religion teaches we will burn in hell for ever end ever no matter how small or large our crimes are. Every child according to your religion is born with original sin because adam and eve sinned... Where does it say this? You ignore the fact that your morality is not the morality the bible teaches, you side step the issue every time... The first mention of Christ occurred 70 or 80 years after his death, any text claiming to quote him directly is fiction. 400 years later there were 20 gospels, by popular vote it was winnowed down to the 4 we know today even though some of the deleted texts are references in the 4 left. Yes i did you are blinded by the light and can't see them... go back and reread this thread... -
That was a major disappointment to me when I was keeping them, there is one recorded species that lives past it's reproductive cycle but it's is thought to be extinct now. It's so sad to see an animal that is so easy to become attached to (lol) live for only a year or so...

List them, lets hash them out...

Not necessarily, but you can't just make a claim with out some sort of back up, he said she said is not evidence of anything... If you didn't see it then or it not part of the official record then it's meaningless, some guy told me but I can't tell you who is meaningless. Are you suggesting this would be used to attack aliens?
-
I am aware of those assertions, but with out some sort of empirical evidence they are just assertions... I am also aware of these as well, in fact if you had searched the site you would have found my threads mentioning this very thing This is relevant why? Again this has what to do with UFOs? If you can't show it then why would we take it as evidence? Again if you can't show it then you don't know it, you are not the only one with actual friends at NASA...

Toured with Heart! envy envy envy envy... Welcome to SFN.... scuba is cool as well...

Sigh... I am probably one of the most "pro UFO" people on this forum, your assertions are embarrassingly uninformed, this is what I was talking about when I said you were inaccurately repeating UFO sightings from the past. If you are going to discuss this intelligently i suggest you search the site for other UFO discussions, this is not my first rodeo and the topic of UFOs deserves far more respect than it gets but you can't assert just anything as evidence nor does talking to people on the street have any credibility. SplitInfinity, the astronaut accounts are difficult to explain but not as numerous as you seem to be asserting...
-
You are inaccurately detailing some famous UFO sightings from various places but my main concern is with two of your assertions... "a brilliant light which reached a superluminal speed within a second or two from a completely stationary position in the sky." exactly how did you determine it reached "superluminal" speed? "a thick brilliant beam of light travelling at a very high speed" a beam of light could only travel at c, your statement makes no sense...

Is faith strong enough to change reality? My uncle told me a while back he had a neighbor that had so much faith he was sure a bullet fired from a gun couldn't harm him... is faith that powerful? or was he nuts?

Dinosaur extinction was probably by Sun particles
Moontanman replied to lbiarge's topic in Speculations
Umm no, the atmosphere provides quite a bit of shielding, something like the equivalent of a meter of lead. Enough "sun particles" to kill off 70% of all life on the earth would have had to have swept away the atmosphere completely. -
a bit spammy but it is exactly what you are talking about... yes it is nemo, get with the program...

Your obsession with "combustibles" is blinding you to reality, while our civilization has relied on combustibles so far as it's major source of energy there are other sources and civilization can be run on those sources. In fact non fossil fuel energy sources can be used to make combustibles, we have literally thousands of years of nuclear energy left, billions of years of solar energy left, at least millions of years of geothermal and tidal not to mention wind. Our civilization has changed and will continue to change if not we would not be here now... On the other hand Fermi's paradox does suggest that technological civilizations are rare, I see no evidence to dispute this directly but the cause would not necessarily be lack of energy sources... The Deep Hot Biosphere postulates that life is a inevitable chemical reaction that occurs deep inside large bodies at the boundary of up welling hydrogen rich fluids and hot igneous rocks, at very high temperatures and pressures. He suggested that life as we know it is the real extremophiles and most life on earth exists at very high temperatures and pressures at great depths... http://unconventionalgeology.blogspot.com/2012/01/deep-hot-biosphere.html

That was my first thought as well, but I've been told so many times that Golds ideas were hog wash that I hesitate to show my fandom of his Deep Hot Biosphere...

Microbes have been found living deep in the crust under the Earths oceans, this is the largest habitat on Earth. Fueled by chemosynthesis, these microbes may be part of the largest ecosystem on earth. http://www.scientificamerican.com/article.cfm?id=life-found-deep-inside-earths-oceanic-crust&WT.mc_id=SA_DD_20130315
