There are schools of thought that UFOs deserve to be investigated not because they might be aliens but because we don't know why they are. Humans seem to tend to want there to be things beyond their keen, something more powerful something more than human, we've been seeing these powerful "things" "gods" Aliens" and other supernatural things since ancient times, are they something of substance or something that speaks volumes about the human psyche.

Why? Does your faith make you be a good person when in fact you would rather not be? I do not share "faith" in anything supernatural and yet i strive to help my fellow man, improve my society and do no harm to anyone, why can you not do that with no supernatural being to make sure you do so?

Why do you have to have faith in a supernatural being to do that? If you cannot show it then you do not know it.... There is no positive evidence of the existence of a god, gods, or goddesses, in the face of lack of positive evidence the default position is "there are no gods"...

You do realize that blogs are not evidence of anything but the bloggers opinions? peak oil cannot be shown as the end of our civilization any more than peak lumber can be seen as the end of construction... peak uranium assumes no other type of nuclear power can be used when in fact thorium can not only be used to generate power it can also be used to generate power from the reactor waste we now store...

I feel rather strongly we have a language problem here, I think you said we are going to run out of oil and our civilization is time limited by the future lack of oil... is this what you are saying? If so you are ignoring a huge amount of scientific progress like solar, wind, tidal, geothermal, Nuclear, not to mention making oil of of other organic materials and algae... running out of oil is a problem but not an insurmountable one... You are going to have to elaborate on this, i don't understand what you are asserting... And yet I pointed out solutions to that problem in the last paragraph... Lightning striking something and creating life is not part of real science... You said this The difference is not clear... Ummm while i do not think silicon or silicone life is probable, the reactions are energy deficient but any pseudo organic bonds made from silicone are very stable at high temps... I agree, they are very distant also ran's in this discussion I think... Considering no device has landed on Titan that had the capability to look for any sort of life I can't see why you would say that... I have to agree, at this point we have a data set of 1, no curve can be drawn from one data point...

The technology I am talking about was in 1947 Sam, 65 years Sam, if our government has the technology to do the things the UFOs were sighted doing 1947 the Apollo space program was a waste of time and money... You need to support this assertion with more than speculations... If you cannot show this to be true, the rest falls completely apart... There is no reason to assume our civilization will fall if we run out of oil, in fact renewable energy can and almost certainly will slowly replace oil. In fact i think it's reasonable to assume our civilization will expand out into the solar system at least and the almost unlimited resources there can and will be used to further our civilization... I do how ever agree that the idea that SETI will be able to eavesdrop on the radio leakage from other civilizations is less than supportable at this time...

Such technology always makes it into the public eye, stealth technology once the most super secret technology the US had is now well known the air craft are flying at air shows and stealth technology is much newer than 1947... Like I said, photo analysis can show stuff like that to be fake and if the photo has no frame of reference it is always suspect...
