  3. I think that's called sarcasm... Another take on this has to do with the nearest star having an earth sized planet. Until recently it was assumed that double stars like the Alpha Centauri system do not have planets but now we know that not only do multiple star systems have planets there is an Earth sized one just 4.5 light years away. Is this statistically significant?

I suggest you watch this video the relevant part to your assertion is at 15:50 to around 17:00 but to really understand how badly the Bible got this stuff wrong I suggest you watch the 4 part series, a half an hour of your life listening to reality, are you brave enough to do it or is your ignorance more comforting than reality? For what ever it is worth the bible clearly states the Earth is a flat disc covered by a crystal dome on which the moon and the sun travel across every day, this dome is covered by the waters above and below.

  12. Actually sunset is not what I was thinking of, The sun at noon is the question, I know that sunset would be redder, that would be true with any air pressure. It's interesting that you could see the back of your head. i know that on venus you would see your self at the bottom of a bowl due to refraction but venus has 90 bar atmosphere, i wasn't aware that 10 bar would do the same thing. I want to get the apparent conditions correct from the point of view of some one on the surface of this hypothetical planet. Originally i was thinking of a large moon around a massive gas giant. Avatar screwed the pooch on that idea but i am starting over with new parameters. My idea was a moon in the same situation as Jupiter's Io with a huge energy input from interactions with the gas giants immense magnetic fields and radiation belts. The Moon is 25,000 kilometers in diameter 4 earth masses and density of 2924 kg squared surface gravity of 10.21 ms This should result in an extensive atmosphere in the way Titan has an extensive atmosphere. I am stymied by the heat retention of that atmosphere I see no way to calculate what the greenhouse effect would be. Here are some of the parameters.   13. Newspapers are dying, the internet is the most used and up to date source of News both science and otherwise. The internet has advantages and disadvantages. While the information is easily accessible it is also subject to spin or to be more precise outright lies. Any information you seek should be looked at from several sources and the agenda of those sources has to be taken into account. My rule of thumb is that religious sources have to be cross checked with secular sources and when the source agrees with my own predilections it has to be checked again to make sure I am not being told what i want to believe.

If I am reading this correctly I would expect in a 10 bar atmosphere the sky would still be blue but the disc of the sun would appear redder than the one we see on earth at zenith and the sun would appear more and more red as it left zenith and approached the horizon. Am i reading that correctly? I would expect a denser atmosphere to contain a heavier load of particulates therefore it would make sense the sun would appear redder but the sky should still be blue or possibly blue/white. Someplace i read that the composition of the atmosphere is also important, an atmosphere containing high levels of methane would appear green instead of blue. I can't remember where I read that...
  24. They have no more support than the bible does, they are equally suspect. The bible has been edited added to and translated differently many times. I'd say it is irrelevant if it retained it's original meaning or not. That maybe true but it is also true the bible had been edited and added to. Editing the translations does. New testament scholars have added to, removed from, and changed the text to suit the purposes of the people who translated it. I do not see the scientific community caring one way or another as long as religion stays out of science.
  25. The bible makes extraordinary claims, asserts impossible things, and could not be used in a court of law as evidence, comparing it to yet another ancient manuscript that is also doubtful is meaningless.
