  1. I agree Ringer, if evolution is wrong, that doesn't make creationism right add that to the fact that nothing in biology makes sense outside the frame work of evolution and you get a situation where creationists are asking to be allowed to promote mythology as fact, mythology that doesn't explain anything and is backed up by zero evidence, and replace a theory (BTW crazyntz I suggest you learn what a theory really is) that has an enormous volume of facts to support it with magic? Really?
  2. I'm not sure I agree with this one, if I recall correctly the mating behavior has to occur before the lizards can lay eggs. Even though no genetic material is exchanged the act of mating (can we say orgasm?) triggers hormones which then trigger egg production but no males required If it was vestigial behavior then it shouldn't be necessary for the survival of the lizards. Are my thoughts on this close?
  3. Lets make sure we are talking about the same thing, how do you define theory? And why is that statement any less nonsensical than gasoline should run my car not the engine? Yes, what would be your point? Theories do change as new research reveals new evidence, did you not know this?
  4. Well then respond to my post, it is evolution we are really talking about, correct? Not flight? Because flight has evolved several times inside several different groups of animals, no doubt each time the circumstances would be unique to some degree would they not? Insects in particular seem to have evolved flying quite differently than say bats. Flying fish would be yet another unique evolution of flight, pterosaurs are quite different than birds and no doubt evolved differently under different circumstances. There are even flying squid, are you really suggesting that all flying animals evolved flight the same way? Even spiders have evolved a type of flight. Make it clear what you are questioning, is it evolution or the evolution of flight in a particular animal?
  5. No, crazynytz does not have a point, his handle has nothing to do with it, it's the creationist crap he keeps asserting. This makes no sense in the way it is being used. Like saying gasoline should run my car not the engine. This is simply a lie, a creationist fabrication, nothing less, to make it worse he simply makes the claim but does not back it up, probably due the fact that it is a lie!
  6. Moi? Seriously? I was trying to take you seriously, oh well
  7. In this thread you are going to have to show some sort of evidence that your assumption is true. Would it make a difference if we found that radioactive decay isn't constant, of course it would, it could conceivably make a huge difference but all evidence to date shows exactly the opposite, we all make assumptions about the universe every day, once you get past the idea of I think therefore I am, everything is an assumption. I choose to assume the universe is knowable, I see no other rational logical way to view the universe. Now, once you make the assumption that the universe is knowable and has knowable properties the idea then becomes is radioactive dating accurate. As for crazynutz, his name says it all and his assertions are pure unadulterated male bovine excrement... try this http://www.youtube.com/user/potholer54#p/u/20/APEpwkXatbY
  8. You are making quite an assumption here, I thought the videos did a pretty good job of pointing out that volcanism didn't have to stop for snow ball earth to happen.
  9. Ok Mark, first thing I would like to point out is that you have asked a very odd question, much like how did running evolve or how did eating evolve, such things have evolved so many times independently to suggest there is a common way they evolved is a bit of a loaded question isn't it? I mean, have you stopped beating your wife yet? But if you want a really good explanation of how Evolution works I can steer you toward some stuff that might interest you because that is what you are really asking isn't it?
  10. Wayne Newton imitations!!!! Now you've crossed the line Marat!
  11. mokele-mbembe mokele-mbembe mokele-mbembe mokele-mbembe mokele-mbembe (I just love saying that!) Didn't you read this entire thread?
  12. My new youtube channel, I'm just getting started but I am working on it.http://www.youtube.com/user/Moontanman?feature=mhee

  13. "Micro" and "Macro" Evolution are the same thing, why do creationists always get that wrong? The bigger question is why can't they show any instance of "creation"? Just one animal out of order in the evolutionary record like maybe bunnies in the Cambrian period, no wait, they don't believe there was a Cambrian era, your guys think the Earth is 6,000 years old, that is a pickle isn't it.... maybe you could get one of the real creationist experts to come and give us a good talking to, like maybe Dr. Kent Hovind, yes he is supposed to have taught high school science for 15 years... no wait, he is in jail for fraud, he is also not a doctor (he lied about that too) How sad, I know! Lets ask the Banana Man!
  14. How is prostitution putting a price on human life? Do they kill prostitutes after they are done where you live?
  15. Do I have some videos for you! No wait, you have made up your mind already, no point in making an effort to show you how wrong what you just asserted is but lets just say you have simply misrepresented the idea of what happens in evolution totally.... no transitional fossils huh? ... how drol....
  16. I agree with John, the OP has nothing to do with organic chemistry.
  17. Hobbyists have provided much knowledge in many areas of science, astronomy comes to mind right away. But many times things hobbyists see in animals in captivity is written off as an artifact of captivity, as in paddlefish do not eat other fish so my captive paddlefish must be changed in some way by captivity, I know part of this to be a totally false assumption based on prey fish not being found in the stomach contents of wild paddlefish but I have observed paddlefish eating other fish, often quite large fish in comparison to the paddlefish. I have discussed this with professionals and some have taken my observations seriously and others have said things like it being an artifact of captivity to actually calling me a lier with an agenda, all i can do is observe as neutrally as possible to the best of my ability at this point but in captivity paddlefish not only eat other fish they actively pursue them, this i can say with total confidence.
  18. Marat, I think you should define civilized society before you make that claim, much if not all of what you say is not allowed by civilized society has indeed been allowed by various societies in the past.... not to mention things that seem even worse by todays standards...
  19. Yes, that last one would seem to be the most accurate, good thing there is some humor mixed in or it wouldn't be fun at all....
  20. This guy is a great source of info on why radiocarbon dating works, if you are a YEC you might not get the humor.... http://www.youtube.com/user/Potholer54debunks#p/u/18/QbvMB57evy4
  21. If he really wants an answer I do have some stuff to show him, this amounts to considerable time on my part spent looking up this stuff and while I do enjoy it for it's own sake having some one just ignore me or worse yet just move the goal posts by redefining the question each time is a bit of a... hmmm, how to say it....
  22. I know what the problem is, markearthling, if you really want to understand evolution I can connect you to some really informative and scientifically accurate videos by some really impressive people but do you really want to know or are you just looking to ask an unanswerable question?
  23. A friend of mine who studies goblin sharks agrees with you, she says paddlefish resemble goblin sharks and chimeras, paddlefish do have a similar primitive spiral valve gut and are related to both sharks and sturgeons but the relationship hasn't been determined genetically yet as far as I know. Actually that's probably an artifact of the camera and the size of the tank, the tank is significantly larger in the last videos and the fish have to swim further to find barriers, makes the swim look less frantic but they swim consistently at (at least to my eyes and I look at them every day) a similar pace and never stop.
  24. If you ever read any "science" fiction you should check out "Across Real Time" by Vernor Vinge, ( a combination of two novels and a novella) a great epic of a story that addresses this issue as well. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Peace_War
