  1. How could space itself expand? Isn't space just the absence of matter, like darkness is the absence of light? The only way I can picture space being compressed is if matter itself was smaller, or if the matter was closer together. If the matter was closer together, wouldn't you still have the problem with an extremely large amount of gravity? What should I be looking for in the telescope? Everything in that chart either took place on Earth, or in the solar system. How could we see back in history if the events happened so close to Earth?
  2. The ChristianAnswers web site attempts to explain how we can see light from stars that are millions of light-years away if the universe was only 10,000 years old. Visit http://www.christiananswers.net/q-aig/aig-c005.html to see their explanation. I don't want this thread to turn into any type of religious debate, so I just want everyone to look at this scientifically and tell me if it's possible. Can the speed of light or time change? It seems to me that this theory would cause some type of conflict between light and time. How can you change one and have the other one remain constant?
  3. Well, they seem to take scientific evidence and then twist it around. That's what makes it so confusing. I looked at various sites that appear to be major science web sites. Many of them seem to disagree on different things, especially with the big bang. Some say that an actual explosion took place, and others say that there was no explosion but just a rapid expansion. Also, I still don't understand how the big bang could happen. I always thought that nothing could exceed the speed of light. If light can't escape from a black hole, how can anything escape from the universe if it was compressed? Yes, the spaces between matter seem to be growing. However, that alone does not seem to be proof that an actual explosion or expansion took place. Given how small our knowledge of matter is, wouldn't it just make as much sense to say that actual particles of matter are shrinking? I know this is a little off-topic, but it just shows that science has yet to find a perfect explanation of the origin of the universe. Yes, I did look at the chart. Which of those are currently observable? All of it seems like ancient history to me. How can we observe anything that happened such a long time ago?
  4. Well, http://www.answersingenesis.org is an interesting web site. When you mix their ideas with the ideas of http://www.christiananswers.com you end up with a confusing mess. Perhaps these sites should get their scientific evidence together before writing some of the stuff that they do. I can now see why some people in this forum might have a negative view of creationists. Of course, I can say the same thing about some of the evolutionist, abiogenesis, and big bang web sites I looked at. They are always contradicting each other, and also leaving out major holes that exist in the theories. For example, nobody has been able to explain to me how the big bang could happen if you consider how much gravity the universe would have if it was compressed. Light can't escape from a black hole, so how can you expect matter to escape from the entire universe if it was compressed? It just doesn't make sense... Perhaps how we got here is something that we will never explain. Despite what many people say, we don't even seem to be close to finding the true answer. I believe the truth is hidden deep in the words of Genesis. Perhaps you believe the truth is hidden deep in the night sky, at the point where the distant light might possibly show its true origins. Or maybe humans just aren't supposed to know. Maybe we are just supposed to appreciate the fact that we are here...
  5. Can you give me some examples? I'm already talking to my preacher and some other Christians about how Genesis said light was created before the Sun, Moon or stars. They are trying to find an answer to that. Do you have any other examples?
  6. Actually, I already knew that. However, Charles Darwin is usually thought of as the creator of some of the modern evolution beliefs. Many of the modern parts of the theory came from his book, "The Origin of Species". I would also like to comment about the letter, when we talk about Chapters 15 & 16 and talk about some of the claims the video made about scientific insight in The Bible. While there are some good points made in this part of the letter, it seems to be a little off-topic. This part of the video was their interpretation of The Bible. Mentioning this in the letter seems to be going away from our original purpose of correcting misrepresentations of scientific facts and theories.
  7. Well... I guess I should thank everyone for reading my posts no matter how crazy they sometimes sound... YT2095, Swansont, and Sayonara are probably the smartest people I've met here. Thanks especially to Dak and Cap'n Refsmmat for their help with computers, and helping me to discover how to delete Haxdoor. I've seen several web sites give me credit for this, but I couldn't have done it without your help. Thanks to Cloud, Bettina, Bluesmudge,5614, Snail, In My Memory, and many others for being very friendly. Thanks to Callipygous for all of the advice he has given me. I would like to thank all the other members who are friendly and knowledgeable.
  8. Of course they are going to need to correct their mistakes. Nobody should ever criticize other beliefs or opinions by using false information. I'm also in full support of requesting that they inform everyone of all the incorrect information presented in this video. However, I'm not sure if they are financially capable of making the refunds. It says on the Christian Answers web site that they are non-profit and rely on donations. If so, the cost of the DVD and videos probably went to manufacturing and shipping them. Since it will probably be impossible for them to get this money back, I'm not sure if asking them to give refunds would do any good.
  9. I agree. Anything in the theories that can be proven without a doubt should be presented as facts. We just need to make sure that we provide plenty of references to scientific evidence that can't be denied. If something is true, we need to make sure that we provide proof it is true. If something can't be proven, it should be presented as a theory or belief. For example, if the video said something like, "Evolution says a reptile evolved into a bird in one generation" we should correct them by saying something like, "It is the belief of evolutionists that reptiles gradually evolved into birds over many generations." Then we won't be telling them what to believe, we will just be telling them what the theory actually says. Most of your draft looks good, but I would be careful not to accuse them of being dishonest. I don't think this letter should accuse them of doing anything wrong on purpose. Instead of saying they are "dishonest" or "misrepresenting", I think we should say they are "misinformed". I would say that they seem to misunderstand the facts, instead of saying that they are lying. I would recommend that they apologize for the false information in the video regarding proven facts, or what the theories actually say. I would also recommend that they either remove the video, or make corrections to the video and remove any false information. However, I'm not sure if refunding everyone would be such a great suggestion. The people who sell this video probably aren't directly responsible for making any false statements. Also, most Christian companies donate a lot of their profits to charitable organizations. I would feel differently if this was a major commercial publisher, but I'm not sure if requesting refunds would be a good idea in this circumstance. I also think we need to add a paragraph to show that this letter wasn't made to criticize or change Christian beliefs. Show them that we aren't trying to say anything against creationism, but we are only trying to correct any false statements made about evolution. I would suggest a paragraph like this:
  10. I agree that this letter will be a good idea. We should keep in mind that different scientists were interviewed for this video. If a certain person said incorrect information in the video, we should make sure that we mention the name of the scientist who said it. It usually says the name of each person they interview when they first start talking to the person. We might also want to reference http://www.talkorigins.org so they can read some of that information themselves. However, I don't think that we should mention any links to http://www.deathtocreationism.com. It's not a very professional name for a web site. If I came here with a link to a site named http://www.deathtoevolution.com I doubt that many of you would even waste your time clicking on the link. We should mention any errors they made in their explanations of evolution, abiogenesis, or the big bang. However, we should not say anything like "The big bang and abiogenesis are what really happened." We should say something like, "You seem to be misunderstanding the theories of the big band and abiogenesis." Tell them what the theories say, and the scientific evidence that supports the theories. Don't present the theories as facts.
  11. Ok, thank you. I e-mailed them, and I'll let you know what they say. I also had this problem with my Yahoo account. How do people decide what e-mail addresses or domains to use when they send SPAM? Does this happen to most people who own domains, or is there any reason why they could have picked my domains? Is there anything I can do to discourage people from using my e-mail addresses and domains? Do I need to worry about e-mail services putting my domains on blacklists because SPAM is coming from them?

  13. Somebody was using a few of the domains I have on GoDaddy.com to send phishing schemes, viruses, and other junk mail. The e-mail addresses that the SPAM was sent from aren’t even registered on my domains. I got all the returned mail because I have one inbox on each domain setup as a “catch all” account. A “catch all” account means anything sent to (anything)@(mydomain).com will be sent to that inbox. A strange thing is that they used domains that I normally don’t even use to send or receive mail. In fact, one of the domains that were used doesn’t even have a web site hosted on it. Here is a picture of an inbox on one of my domains: It looks like the messages were sent out to a variety of e-mail addresses. They were sent from names like “NicoleCleveland@destinypoems.com” which is not a real e-mail address on that domain. The only reason I got the returned mail was because of the “catch all” feature. Here is one of the returned messages: Can anybody give me any more information about this? Why and how did they use my domains? Should I do anything about this if it happens again?

You got it all wrong... First of all, asking someone out on a date isn't anything close to humping someone's leg. If they mean the same thing to you, I'm sure that you've never gone on more than one date with anyone. Read some of my other posts in other threads, and you will see that I feel strongly about treating girls with the respect they deserve. You will understand how I feel about relationships, and what is important in a relationship. The girl doesn't hate me and she never got mad at me. She is still my best friend, and we always have friendly conversations in school. 5614, thanks for your advice. I always try to be friendly to people.
  15. Dak, you bring up some very interesting points in your post. I don't have enough knowledge about all of this to judge whether you are correct, or if the video is correct. You might want to e-mail ChristianAnswers and see what their response is to your statements. It is interesting how you try to separate evolution with abiogenesis and the big bang. I think the reason the video groups them together is because creationism provides a beginning of everything. Evolution doesn't. However, when people say that evolution can't be proven because it doesn't have a beginning, most of them point to these other two theories. I think that evolutionists probably started the connection between these theories, not creationists. Here is my interpretation from some of the key chapters I watched in this video: Chapter 6-See what they say about Spontaneous Generation. They said some interesting things about Urey’s and Miller’s experiment. They talked about how their experiment was nothing like the original conditions on Earth when they created amino acids. TalkOrigins claims that there was little or no oxygen on Earth when life first started. However, this video says that evidence shows there was. Overall, this is a really good Chapter. However, I’m sure all of you will mention the man at the end who was talking about the jar of peanut butter. I know that was a little silly and far from scientific, but you have to remember that was only one person out of the many scientists who helped put this video together. Chapter 7-It says that even if amino acids could be naturally created, it would be nearly impossible for them to become proteins. It said the chance of this happening is 10^65. They continue to say that even if this somehow did happen, the probability would be even lower for these proteins to become a simple form of life. Also, Chapter 7 says that it would be impossible to create one cell from evolution because so many parts would need to be created at the same time. Chapter 8-It talks about how evolutionists try to make bacteria seem very simple. Here they spend some time talking about how complex bacteria really are. They say it would be easier to naturally go from bacteria to humans than go from chemicals to bacteria. Yet, going from chemicals to bacteria is not something that evolutionists talk about very much. Chapter 10-Charles Darwin himself found evidence against evolution! Darwin admitted that if evolution was true there should many fossils that should exist. However, none of these fossils have been found. Chapter 12-They explain how there is no link between humans and apes. They said that evolutionists have tried to create this link without any real scientific evidence! Chapter 13-Evolutionists always make a big deal about how similar Human DNA is to Chimpanzee DNA. This shows that Human DNA is similar to lots of other DNA, so that really doesn’t mean that Humans are closely related to Chimpanzees.

I really don't want to live this type of life. I really want to go out in the real world, but I don't have anyone to go anywhere with. Whenever I go out in the real world, I usually feel isolated and alone.
  17. If you watched the first several chapters, you will see how advanced their knowledge of evolution is. You could easily take parts of this video and make your own video that could teach the theory of evolution. There are some points in the video that I don't agree with. For example, I did think it was odd when they asked who the first bird would mate with. However, you must remember that one person didn't sit down and write all of this. Throughout the whole video, they interviewed tons of different scientists, including many biologists. Just because some of them might be wrong doesn't mean that all of them are wrong. I think I understand some of the points they make in Chapter 14. Before you read what I'm about to say, let me make a disclaimer. I want to make it clear that I had nothing to do with the creation of this video, and what I'm about to say did not come from the information in this video. In other words, if I say something totally stupid, don't use it as evidence against the video. When they say, "all intermediate forms would be fatal. What good is half a wing..." I don't think they actually mean any type of animal suddenly being born with half a wing. I think they are referring to the development of a wing over many generations. Why would natural selection cause a wing to develop? It wouldn't give an organism any advantage until the wing is developed enough to fly. Therefore, why would it continue to develop when it isn't giving any advantage to the animal? I think that might be what they were asking in the video, but that is just my interpretation.

Perhaps, but why would I have only liked one person in my whole life? I can't think of anyone else who has liked only one girl. Doesn't that mean there is something special about her? Maybe you should have read through some of the posts before making a reply. You would have realized that Bluesmudge figured out why I feel this way. Bluesmudge said what was on my mind throughout this whole thread. I guess I never realized what exactly was on my mind, or I just never thought of a good way to say it. No. My username has nothing to do with Hermes.
  19. I have been comparing some of the information from the video with the information on TalkOrigins. The video mentions some major evidence against evolution that isn't on TalkOrigins. There are also some responses on TalkOrigins that do not adequately cover many of the points made in the video. You really need to watch this video before you can criticize it. Unlike many of the other creationist materials you might have seen, this video was created for evolutionists. The people who created this video understand the theory, and they've scientifically found flaws in the theory. This video makes a very slow transition between evolution and creationism. You need to watch the whole video from start to finish before you can start arguing with it. Even if you choose not to believe the creationism evidence near the end, how can you argue with all the evidence against evolution they make throughout the entire video? I looked, and a lot of this stuff just isn't on the TalkOrigins web site.
  20. Yourdadonapogos, Go here for all the scientific evidence you could ever need: http://www.scienceforums.net/forums/showthread.php?p=269569 I also found an answer for your question regarding when Jesus was born. Go here: http://www.christiananswers.com/q-aiia/census-luke2.html
  21. I have found an excellent video that is very scientific, yet it provides evidence against evolution. If you watch this video, you will see that the people who created it have an excellent understanding of evolution. The video starts by explaining the theory in great detail, and then it mentions lots of problems with the theory. Here is the link to the video: http://www.christiananswers.net/creation/aqoo/home.html Just click where the moving text says, "Watch Video Here" and then select your connection speed. I think you all will be impressed with how much evidence they provide.
