I am so tired of seeing dating web sites that claim you will find "happiness". They should be taken off the Internet because dating is completely pointless. There is absolutely no sense in deciding that you want a boyfriend or girlfriend and then go "looking" for one. You will never find true happiness by dating. You must wait until you find the perfect person. You should find somebody with a great personality, and somebody who will really care about you forever. You must find someone who cares about you for who you really are, not who you can pretend to be. I am a guy, but I must say that the way most guys treat their girlfriends is just awful. They often choose a girlfriend because of the way she looks, not because of her personality. If I ever listen to two guys talking about their girlfriends, I usually feel sorry for the girls, who actually think the guys care about them. Some guys actually say stuff like, "Well, she's really hot, but she always wants to talk to me. I'm sick of listening to her problems and acting like I care about her feelings." I feel like the whole purpose of a boyfriend/girlfriend relationship is caring about somebody's feelings, and also knowing that person cares about you. I also don't understand when guys brag about how many girlfriends they've had. They act like it is a good thing that they've hurt so many girls' feelings! I've also heard guys say stuff like, "I'm going to date that girl over there. When we breakup, I'm going to date that girl in our other class." What is the point in even thinking about getting a girlfriend when you are already planning on breaking up with them! How can anyone care so little about another person's feelings? It is often surprising to people that I have never had a girlfriend. However, I can also say that I've never broken up with anyone before. When people come together, and then breakup, it only causes pain for both people.

When I was searching for another web site using Google, I found this link: http://140.116.246.95/Squid-log/logs/ny.sanitized-access.20040418.gz Does anybody have any idea what this huge file is? I would guess that this is a major security leak by an Internet Service Provider. If so, should someone e-mail them and tell them that Google has found their log and listed it in their search engine?

I don't understand the concept of the iframes. Why does it want computers to automatically click on games when the user can't see them? Could they be trying to overload the server of the web site with the games? Why is somebody wasting their time advertising these sites?
-
I have noticed some web sites that act very strange when you access them. Two examples I have found are: http://www.stormpages.com/tacy/Tacy.html http://www.myjavaserver.com/~rong889 After these pages load the content, my computer will continue to send and receive data. Are these sites downloading something on my computer? I'm also confused about the purpose of the first site. There isn't any content except for a message that says, "Welcome". However, somebody is spending time advertising it. What is the purpose of that site?
-
I don't think you read the link correctly. Both Microsoft.com and MSN are 100% compatible with the web standards. It is very rare to find a web site that is passes the test. Even most of my web sites have a couple errors on them. Most of the SFN Admins seem to be very knowledgeable at web sites and programming. Can they fix the errors? We aren't talking about a few people that work for Mozilla. We are talking about some of the top people in the company. Let's say that Bill Gates, some of the top Microsoft managers, and some of the top Microsoft developers decide to start a gang. They choose some guy that doesn't work for Microsoft to lead the gang. They use "Microsoft" as part of the gang's name and they begin burning down the office buildings of Microsoft's competitors. Not all of Microsoft's employees would be involved in this gang, but wouldn't most people blame Microsoft for what happened?

...because Internet Explorer is just a collection of proprietary code that does not follow the web standards, it won't validate. Nobody seems to mind, do they? Who said that spreadfirefox.com isn't affiliated with Mozilla? It says at the bottom of the page, "hosting provided by Mozilla Foundation." Also, the spreadfirefox.com FAQs say: Also, I find it interesting that many people use the spreadfirefox.com buttons as advertisements while they are talking about how important the web standards are.
-
I thought that some of the people who believe all web sites should strictly follow the web standards would be interested to see these links: http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=http://www.scienceforums.net http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=http://www.spreadfirefox.com http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=http://www.microsoft.com http://validator.w3.org/check?uri=http://www.msn.com

What about the iPod nano? Would that be considered nanotechnology? They already make powerful hand held computers that run the full version of Windows XP, and other modern applications except for games with very detailed graphics. I've seen some good ones that cost only $2,000 which is the same amount I paid for my notebook computer.

Let me just use BlueAlan as an example, because I've talked about it before in this forum. If you go to Google and search for "BlueAlan", you will see the web site. The META description listed on Google is "We create software that will revolutionize the future of computers." Now, if you do a phrase search for "We create software that will revolutionize the future of computers" you will see a message that says no results were found. How can this be? I know it is in the index because I can find it if I search for "BlueAlan". If I do the same phrase search on any other search engine that has my site in the index, the search engine will display me site. However, Google will not show it. I don't understand why Google won't list my site.
-
No matter what I do, Google won't list any of my web sites under the keywords that I want. Why isn't their spider reading the keywords in my META tags? I have good keywords and have been linked to from other web sites. Yet, Google just won't list them. I keep submitting my web sites to the search engines. I've been on top at MSN, Yahoo, Alexa, and all the other major search engines. Yet, I can't ever get listed on Google. I don't understand why so many people use Google because their spider has obviously been stepped on too many times!

I forgot to warn everyone about some of the online programs that are believed to be scams... http://www.4daily.com was once a very popular program. Their members were earning a lot of money. However, one day the owner said that they were out of money and that all account balances needed to be reset back to $0.00! The owner of the program, "Jim Hunt", used a fake name. Many people believe that his real name is Kevin Hewitt. Recently, 4Daily announced that they are under new ownership. Some people say that 4Daily has become a great way to make money again. Other people say they are a scam. You should use your own judgment to decide whether or not they are a scam, but I can say that I won't be investing any money in 4Daily. http://www.5daily.com is a place where a lot of people lost lots of money. They used to pay their members on time. However, they ran out of money to pay their members. The site is still open and they are letting new people join and pay them money! I don't understand why they don't close the site... http://www.6dailysurf.com is the site that really makes me mad! As far as I know, they have never paid any of their members. I still receive e-mails from them that say I should invest in them. However, they owe me money that they never paid me! I e-mailed them multiple times, but I never received a reply. You can visit http://www.autosurfmonitor.com for some great information about different online programs that are successful, and those that are scams.

It's nice to see that I created a thread that helped someone instead of making everyone angry. Dak and Cap'n Refsmmat helped me get rid of Haxdoor too. My computer has worked perfectly since then. Thanks again!

Blike owns Science Forums? I always thought it was owned by Sayo. The owner of 12daily Pro is named Charis. She obviously knows how to run a company because of 12daily Pro's huge success.
-
How does this web site make money? Does the owner pay the expenses and run the web site for non-profit? Anyway, I think the Google ads are a great idea. I've always hated web sites with tons of pop-up ads, especially the ones that go past the pop-up blocker! Visit http://www.secretary.state.nc.us/corporations/Corp.aspx?PitemId=7820076# to see their corporation information. It is under the name of "Life Clicks" which is the parent company of 12daily Pro. Also, the owner of 12daily Pro is hosting a huge convention next month in North Carolina. If 12daily Pro was illegal, I doubt she would make a public appearance like that.
-
Yes, the Science Forums web site appears to be making money that way. 12daily Pro is not only legal, but they are a registered corporation in the United States. They don't use new member fees to pay their old members. Instead, they make their own investments with your money to earn more money for you. Yes, pyramid schemes are illegal, but 12daily Pro is not a pyramid scheme.
-
Has anybody here had any success making money online? You need to be careful because many online programs are scams. I'm actually making a lot of money from http://www.12dailypro.com and they have over 200,000 members. Is anybody else a member of an online program where you can make money?

Where are the other IE files? Are you talking about the .dll files in the System32 folder? I know some of them contain the graphics for IE and Explorer, but I don't think they stay in the memory when they aren't being used. I remember when you used to be able to buy Netscape on CD-ROM. I'm not sure if anyone still sells browsers on CD-ROMs anymore or not.
-
I never thought that IE was taking up memory unless it was running. The IE program is C:\Program Files\Internet Explorer\IEXPLORE.EXE and that process isn't running unless you are using IE. I think people see C:\Windows\Explorer.exe and get confused. Explorer.exe is not IE, but it is the Windows browser that displays Windows components like My Computer, My Documents, and the Control Panel. I never did understand the purpose of that lawsuit. A lot of products are included with other products. It is the same thing as a toy company including batteries with their toys, computer companies including keyboards with their computers, radio companies including speakers with their radios, or a video game company including a controller with their consoles. Microsoft had every right to include Internet Explorer with Windows. The only reason they should have been sued is if they had Windows purposely delete other browsers. That certainly isn't the case because you can use all types of browsers with Windows. Microsoft included IE with Windows as an extra feature. They never forced anybody to use IE to access the Internet.

Well, everyone is acting like IE is way behind Firefox because they don't have tabbed browsing yet and Firefox does. Firefox was released in 2004, and IE plans to have tabbed browsing in 2006. That means IE is 3 years behind Firefox. However, if tabbed browsing was invented in 1997, that means that Firefox was 8 years behind Netcaptor! I'm not saying that it really matters which browser used tabbed browsing first. I'm just wondering how people can criticize IE for taking so long to catch up with Firefox when it took Firefox 8 years to catch up with Netcaptor!

That is a good web site. There are too many web sites that just talk about how bad Internet Explorer is, and they act like Firefox is perfect. It is good to see a web site that tells the truth, all web browsers have advantages and disadvantages. I was a little interested in the fact that they said Firefox requiring more system resources was a bad thing. Normally the best programs required the most system resources. If people like programs that use few system resources, they should go back to using DOS for their operating system. If a program uses more system resources, it normally means that it does more. I would be very concerned if I bought an expensive program and saw that it was only a few kilobytes in size.

I believe that it would be worth the effort. It is probably making a difference between Firefox being in first place, or Firefox being in a very distant second place. I have used Firefox, and I have a feeling that it would easily become more popular than IE if it was only more compatible with other web sites. It has some very nice features, but I get really annoyed when I see an error message on a web site that says I need to use IE for the page to display. Instead of switching between browsers all the time, I would rather just stick with IE. I'm sure that many people feel the same way. I don't think the extra IE compatibility would conflict with the standards. Yes, it would be a lot of work, but they could have the browser recognize the difference between a web site that is following the standards, and one that is not following the standards. Because nobody would use it. If you release a new web browser, you can't expect everybody to change the code on their web sites just for your browser. If Firefox wants to be at the top, they are going to need to gradually switch from the IE commands to following the web standards. The web standards have been ignored for so many years. You can't expect that to suddenly change just because a new browser is released that follows the web standards. If people can't use Firefox to access the web sites they want, they aren't going to use it. If everybody is using IE, do you think businesses are going to care whether or not their sites follow the standards? I have been to many web sites that aren't compatible with Firefox. In some online stores, you don't even realize there will be a compatibility issue until you are in the middle of a purchase. It can be really annoying to have to switch to IE, and start the purchase process over again.
-
Because so many web sites use extra code that isn't in the standards, but works with IE. Since IE is more common than Firefox, it would be a logical business decision to include IE compatibility with Firefox. By not including this extra code, they are harming themselves, not Microsoft. I don't understand how compatibility with IE HTML code will prevent them from complying with the standards. There are extra HTML commands that IE recognizes that aren't included in the standards. Firefox could include these extra commands and still include all of the commands that are listed in the standards. It would make their browser compatible with more web sites so that more people will want to use it. Right now, compatibility seems to be the main reason why many people won't use Firefox. Firefox does have some good features, but people want a web browser that they can rely on to display every web site they want to visit. Even if the Firefox developers don't have access to the IE source code, they should be able to figure out how certain IE commands work. The commands themselves are made available to the public, so Firefox just needs to figure out how to make their browser respond to these commands. Firefox should still comply with the web standards. However, they should also be compatible with the current ways that HTML is used. That way, both web site developers and browser users can be happy with Firefox.

Read: http://www.scivisum.co.uk/press-releases/200506_firefox_web_test_study.htm It says that one in ten web sites don't work with Firefox. I have tested my web sites with Firefox, and I found them all to be compatible. As a web site designer, I would like to know why some web sites don't work with non-Internet Explorer browsers. I have read that the main problem is that some web sites use code that only IE recognizes. What type of code is exclusive to IE? Why can't Firefox be programmed to read both IE code and the code that complies with the web standards?

There is probably an easier way, but I always wired the headphones port of my computer into the microphone port. Make sure that the volume is turned down really low or the quality will be very bad. You can save it to a .wav file using the Windows Sound Recorder. The quality of the sound depends on your computer's audio system.

Yes, Bank of the West is real. However, I don't think the link in that e-mail goes to Bank of the West's real web site. Cap'n Refsmmat is right, it does go to a 404 page. Perhaps the authorities shutdown the link after they realized it was a scam.
