  1. Yeah im taking my organic course and im finding a lot of conflicting statements about IUPAC naming.... my teacher mentioned she might ask us to give both the common name and IUPAC name for some compounds.... but from the looks of it i think the iso and tert- type will be accepted as systematic naming
  2. 1-methyl-1-isopropoxycyclohexane 7-(1-methylethyl)-11-(2-methylpropyl)-hexdec-6-amine 3-ethylnon-5,7-ene-2-ol 5-bromo-10-ethoxy-2,8,10,14-tetramethylpentadecane the first one is the one that concerns me. and are isopropyl and isobutyl considered common names?
  3. Is it possible to have pure acid? I have a hard trouble understanding this concept. Acids are concentration of H+ and OH- or is the acids the actual acids such as HCl or HI and if one is a strong acid such as HCl can I have pure HCl without water.
