How long does evolution take to occur?
Strange replied to John Harmonic's topic in Evolution, Morphology and Exobiology
Translation: “if I ignore the answers I was given before, can I ask the same question again” -
FFS grow up. Stop postiong such idiotic and immature threads.

Maybe someone more expert will comment but this usage seems wrong to me. Genotype refers to the contents of the genes of an organism, while the phenotypes how those genes are expressed in the organism. https://pged.org/what-is-genotype-what-is-phenotype/ As such, I would say that an innate urge to attach is part of the phenotype (ie. it is a physical response encoded in the genes, not the content of the genes itself).

There must be instructions online for doing this sort of thing, for example: https://www.google.com/search?q=make+your+own+fragrance+with+essential+oils And there are probably more relevant forms (hobby/craft forums for example)

I love the smell of isopropanol. I really miss it. I never knew it was so toxic!

The existence of holes in semiconductors is essential to the operation of your phone, computer, etc. They have charge and mass, and they move. Sounds like they exist to me.

That is very naive. Detailed, and often very convincing, arguments have been made on both sides.

This debate has been going on for millennia. Philosophers and mathematicians seem about equally divided in the issue. Some animals certainly have a concept of number. For example show a dog 2 treats then hide them, they will look for both.

Sounds like https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Our_Mathematical_Universe How would you test your idea? And in particular, what would prove it wrong?

Note that “JoeH” is a serial sock-puppet and crackpot. He is incapable of rational discussion (I have tried a couple of times years ago). All he does is repeat the same statements over and over, getting angrier and angrier when challenged. He has nothing useful to contribute. Despite being banned multiple times from here and many (all?) other science forums he keeps coming back. I think he is unwell.

The big bang reveals a problem with the materialistic view
Strange replied to Endercreeper01's topic in Religion
And why are you discussing the Big Bang in the Religion forum? Because of that, and your incoherent answers, I am going to suggest this is closed. If you have anything sensible to say about cosmology (unlikely) you can start a new thread in the appropriate place. -
Never. But some clubs suffer from people wandering in off the street, refusing to read or follow the rules and then sh*tting on the carpets. The management, with the support of the regular members, then have to clear up after these delinquents and, in some cases, throw them out. Sadly, some of them keep coming back with a false moustache and a fake name. Does this sound familiar, “Reg”?

The big bang reveals a problem with the materialistic view
Strange replied to Endercreeper01's topic in Religion
If there is ever any evidence that it happened then we can use that evidence to provide a scientific explanation. As it is, there are several scientific hypotheses. So you are talking nonsense. Again. I suspect it exists even without that observer. 1. THERE IS NO EVIDENCE OF THE CREATION OF SPACETIME. What is wrong with you? Why do keep repeating this nonsense? 2. That has nothing to do with a “higher power”. It seems you are incapable of a coherent discussion. -
What bashing? Please provide some examples so we know what you are talking about Who told you that? Robots are already doing many jobs and, in future, will probably do many more.
-
Well there could be too many. But there aren’t. Luckily there is no such program. What are you talking about?

The big bang reveals a problem with the materialistic view

Except there is no such relationship (outside your imagination) -
Being available and being downloaded by mugs is not evidence it is correct. You can present those calculations here and compare them with observation. That way we can judge if they are "correct" or not. Given the nonsense you have posted previously, it seems very unlikely. p.s. your link is broken, anyway I had a look, and without some explanation it is meaningless. Just tables of numbers and some random graphs. So unless you want to actually explain what you are talking about, there is no point anyone looking at it.

There is absolutely no reason at all for thinking that delaying this, or going public when she thinks an obvious wrong is happening, is any reason to think she is lying. That is a really offensive statement and one that shows you are totally detached from the real world. Or at least the one that most women live in. Oh, yeah, watching TV makes you a real expert.

The big bang reveals a problem with the materialistic view

There is no evidence for a big bang "event". The Big Bang model describes the evolution of the universe from a hot, dense state. We don't know how the universe came to be in that state. It may have been created that way (by demons or aliens), it may have been formed by the earlier collapse of the universe, it may have existed in an earlier state for infinite time, it may ... How do you know it is "uncaused"? And, even if it is, why is that significant? Uncaused events happen all the time. It doesn't provide any evidence for one either. -
I don't watch videos. They are a terrible way of conveying information.

The Scientific Method -- is there such a thing?
Strange replied to Reg Prescott's topic in General Philosophy
I think "Reg" has read the introductory chapter of a book on philosophy or rhetoric and uses some of the words he found to make pointless arguments. Or is just a fan of the Monty Python "argument" sketch (but nowhere near as entertaining). "No I didn't" -
This is the key part. You can get silica dessicators that fit on a gas line to remove most moisture.

And sometimes the other way round. For example, “expanding spacetime, which is meaningless. Indeed. In most cases, Newtonian physics is good enough.
