Brain impulse and world image
Strange replied to Youss27's topic in Anatomy, Physiology and Neuroscience
There are multiple stages to the processing that takes place. You could try googling for "visual system" or "visual cortex" or "image recognition" These might get you started with the general principles and structures involved: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Visual_system https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cognitive_neuroscience_of_visual_object_recognition And if you start getting into the "meaning" of what the brain sees, then you might want to read up on "qualia" (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Qualia) -
By sealing the end of the pipe, it would demonstrate that your mechanism is not behaving like some sort of fan/suction device (an obvious possible explanation). If you still get air (and paper towel to other measuring device) to move when the pipe is sealed then we would need to eliminate the next possible explanation. Everywhere. You are still held in your chair by gravity even if there is floor below you (whether that is made of wood, metal or concrete). We don't see a change in gravity at times of eclipses. You can't block gravity so one of the ways of confirming that you are looking at a gravitational force is try blocking it. We have a theory of gravity which is tested and shown to work. There is no point coming up with "what if it doesn't work like that" statements unless you can shows some specific evidence that it is wrong. It is up to you to do everything possible to eliminate objections and alternative explanations. Of course, if the only person you want to convince is yourself, then you don't need to do anything.

Needs to save up and buy a G-clamp. Your comments made me go out of my way to watch the video. This has got to be one of the worst experimental setups I have ever seen. No attempt at rigour or measurement. @Theredbarron You need to do a lot better than this. Studiot's comments are spot on, but just the start. You must at least fix the device to the bench and find a better way of measuring the "force". Once you have done that, then if you are sure this is a gravitational effect then you need to do something simple to eliminate the possibility of airflow. For example, cover the end of pipe with cling-film/Saran-wrap. This will block any air but, obviously, won't block gravity. Good luck! If I had seen how shonky your current setup is I would never have recommended that. You need to go a lot further in demonstrating that there is a real effect, and eliminating other possibilities. You seem to have convinced yourself and that is a very dangerous position to be in. You need to do everything you can think of (and more) to try and prove yourself wrong.

Thats not at all a subjective opinion based on prejudice, then.
-
But you don't weight the same. You weigh less. Because of the centrifugal force. (And also a small effect because the radius is greater.) I would suggest you do the experiment in a vacuum. (Contact some local universities to see if they will let you use their facilities.)
-
I was only commenting on your statement about being pulled towards a passing truck. This is simply fluid dynamics, nothing to do with creating gravity. I have absolutely nothing to say about your spinning thing. Exactly. And that is what happens. So you are saying the reduced force of gravity at the equator is not entirely explained by centrifugal forces? Please show the calculations to support this claim.

Exactly my point. Who are you to tell them which parts of their culture (language, stories, myths, legends, traditions, dress, morals, habits) they can keep and which they can't. Yes. It is something we pick up as children. It gets ingrained as part of our culture and personality in a very deep way. Maybe you have never lived in a country where people do things differently. I have seen people from Europe and America get really angry and say "How dare they do that!" just because they have come across a different mode of behaviour.

Yes. And, more to the point, there is no air on the moon but there is still gravity there. (And please don't say that the gravity on the moon is less because there is less atmosphere. I shall cry. I have been exposed to too much stupid already today.) Gravity does affect air. But gravity is not caused by air (apart from the minute effect of its mass). So you didn't even read it? That is exactly what it says.

Of course. They (generally) think that their religion is the source these things.
-
That is what I meant. You assume/assert that teaching religion is inherently wrong. But as far as I can tell, you only think it is bad because you are opposed to religion. One could argue that most local cultural practices (morality, ethics, etiquette, etc) are “flimsy beliefs”; they certainly aren’t based on facts. What is considered good in one country could be offensive in another. Should those things be “forced down children’s throats”? (To use your emotive language)

Sort of radiating beacon, long distance sensing ?
Strange replied to Externet's topic in Engineering
Nowadays when I hear “beacon” I think of Bluetooth. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bluetooth_low_energy_beacon If you want to get directional information you would need several so you can triangulate. -
And yet the "basics of gravity" have been extensively tested by experiment and observation.
-
There is no one universal time. Time is observer dependent. What I was trying to do (and failed, obviously) was to demonstrate that your phrase "two particles exist at the same time" is so vague as to be meaningless. Unless you can define what you mean more precisely, this isn't going to go anywhere. 1. That is what I have been telling you. So what was the point of quoting this? 2. Relativity of simultaneity is precisely (mathematically) defined. Your questions are so vague that they are impossible to answer properly. 3. When quoting a source please provide a reference (e.g. a link). 4. When quoting material, please do something to make it clear what is quoted (e.g. put it inside a quote box)

That has nothing to do with gravity. It is the motion of air. It might surprise you to know that there is no air in space. The faster moving surface does not generate more gravity. Quite the reverse in fact: https://image.gsfc.nasa.gov/poetry/ask/a11511.html This evidence seems to falsify your hypothesis.

Your "logic" gets the wrong value of Pi. (And you cannot or will not explain why.) This is not a problem with my "understanding" it is a simple fact.
-
Yes. Asking a question and then refusing to read the explanations is arrogant. You prefer to think that your random meaningless ideas must be right and hundreds of years of science back by theory and experiment must be wrong. It is not "ascending" on the right side.d. So you looked at the pictures but didn't understand them. It does. The problem is not with the explanation but with your inability to understand it. Please show your calculations to support this claim. No one mentioned x,y,z apart from you. Therefore this is a straw man argument (ie a fallacy). The problem is not on our side. You won't make any progress until you are able to learn.
-
So, you didn’t read the explanations in the links I provided. Lazy as well as arrogant. Of course not. If you understood it, you wouldn’t be making such ludicrous assertions.
-
Have you calculated how much it will take? How much that will cost? How to deliver it? What the effect on the environment will be?
-
I know exactly what I am doing: Trying to explain schoolboy physics to someone who is too arrogant to learn anything. Any object in orbit. It doesn't matter what coordinate system you use. It is still falling. The fact that you think changing the coordinates makes a difference is another illustration of how profoundly ignorant your are. Its not my choice. I haven't even reported it to the mods (your immaturity and ignorance is mildly amusing).
-
Kids of English speakers grow up speaking English. Kids of Chinese speakers grow up speaking Chinese(*). You say it as if it must, inherently, be a bad thing. (Apologies to those who realise there is no such language as "Chinese"!)
-
I didn't use ANY coordinates. Are you deliberately lying or are you just incapable of understanding what you read? All I can see is you making a hash of ... well, everything.

Wich is the best way to clean my desktop computer ?
Strange replied to bsmart805's topic in Computer Help
Not a bad idea. It shouldn't do any harm but I wouldn't want to guarantee it! -
Your "ABSOLUTE LOGIC" gives the wrong value for Pi. Please explain why this is.
-
Do you really expect to understand a different explanation? You are incapable of learning. Full stop. There is nothing more to say. You might as well ask the mods to close this thread as all you are going to do is repeat the same nonsensical gibberish. Because it isn't orbiting. Sheesh. I think I will have to put you on ignore. I am worried that this level of stupidity might be catching. And didn't you mean to write: In the vain hope that ONE of these might get through your thick skull, here are a few more explanations of what an orbit is: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Newton's_cannonball http://www.eg.bucknell.edu/physics/astronomy/astr101/specials/newtscannon.html https://www.school-for-champions.com/science/gravity_newtons_cannon.htm#.W3nXsS2Q2qA Please read these before continuing. And I mean read them and not just look at them and go "Oh they must be wrong b'cos I am such a frigging genius and know those dumb scientists can't even add up." READ THEM. And an interactive web page where you can try it yourself: https://spaceplace.nasa.gov/how-orbits-work/en/

They are entirely figments of your fevered imagination.
