Comparing Corona Virus Success Stories with Abysmal Failures
Strange replied to Alex_Krycek's topic in Politics
Rights exist because they are enshrined in law, and are usually based on the ethical and moral considerations of that society. There is always a conflict of morals and rights, the purpose of law and the courts is to attempt to balance those fairly. While true, the law comes second: it reflects what rights people think should exist. So the rights that people believe in come first, and the the law to create them. I suppose I should add that there are two general approaches to this in law. either "everything not specifically banned is permitted" and "everything not specifically permitted is banned" (these have fancy names, but I can't remember what they are.) But we seem to be getting off topic... -
Comparing Corona Virus Success Stories with Abysmal Failures
Strange replied to Alex_Krycek's topic in Politics
I saw video recently with someone "explaining" why they said so many offensive things: "because the first amendment says I can". To which my response would be: it says you can, it doesn't say you have to. If the only justification you have for doing something is that it is not strictly illegal, then maybe you need to rethink why you are doing it. -

True. Who's to know what the OP means, until they choose to explain. (Which I am not holding my breath for.)
-
OK. And back to complete gibberish.

We know all that. His machine was obviously just moving air about. Obviously. The problem was that he denied that and insisted that it was a gravity generator (or some equally ludicrous nonsense). I don't really know why you are wasting time on this. (Although I can see you didn't spend any time on your drawing.)
-
So, you are confirming the rather obvious conclusions that the piece of paper that "RedBarron" waved around in front of his mechanism was affected by air movement from a spinning disk. (After all, he claimed that he had invented some form of gravity generator. And refused to do any sensible experimentation to prove his idiotic claims wrong.) This is hardly shocking news. And, can I suggest you draw the picture yourself next time, instead of getting a drunk chimpanzee to do it for you.

I assume they mean phenomena that require quantum theory to properly explain them. That covers a wide range from the structure of atoms, the behaviour of semiconductors and the radiation emitted by a hot black body.

They think it's all about them: "me, me, me"

Doh. Same here. I worked it out myself, came up with 1 + 3 + 6 but then quoted your wrong numbers without noticing!

As the first post shows, no parse no longer works. Which is a shame. I wonder if a code block does: [math]x_0^2[/math] Results in: [math]x_0^2[/math]

Question about merging supermassive black holes
Strange replied to Bmpbmp1975's topic in Astronomy and Cosmology
No, because in the case of a black hole merger there is no matter (*) to produce neutrinos (which are produced by the fusion reactions in a collapsing star) or any other radiation. (*) Unless the black holes have significant accretion disks. I'm not sure what happens in that situation. I'm guessing the answer is: "it's complicated" -

What is a "time loop"? Well, the first of those is probably wrong. And the second is definitely wrong. Apart from which, how can the sun shine indefinitely if, according to you, everything is finite. You are contradicting yourself. And still no. Just repeating something erroneous doesn't magically make it true. You don't know that. There is no way of knowing that. Well done. You made a correct and accurate statement. I think it is the first one. Bless your heart And then you go and spoil it all by saying something stupid (which contradicts the true statement you made previously). That is meaningless. They are either conserved or not. Energy is only conserved in a single frame of reference because it is observer dependent. Other properties may be invariant (the same for all observers). I don't really know what it means for a property to be terminal, but it appears to be nonsense. What is a "time loop"? And what evidence do you have that such a thing exists? 1. There is no scientific evidence for gods 2. Science does not prove things 3. Evolution is not guided. 4. Intelligence did not have to evolve. 5. The existence of quantum effects has nothing to do with evolution or intelligence. That is an impressive number of factual and logical errors to get into a single sentence. Well done. Again, you have no way of knowing that. And repeating it does not magically make it true. The rules the forum require you to support your claims with evidence, not just assert your beliefs. Uh-uh. You cant shift the burden of proof. I don't need to defend anything. I am not the one making preposterous claims. Hey! A second true statement. Well done. You might be better off asking questions in order to learn and fix the gaps in your understanding, instead of posting ignorant nonsense as if it were fact. You don't have a theory. A theory is a mathematical model extensively confirmed by experiment and observational data.

Love the fact that one of the (longest) responses is from someone who clearly scores pretty high on the crackpot index.

Maybe that means it is just chance that some relation appears to hold for small numbers. If it doesn't generalise to all integers, then maybe it is not too meaningful.
-
Thanks. I didn't know I needed to do that!
