You will do very well to say that Darwin's theory of evolution is wrong, but no one as yet has a better theory! After reading the second paragraph of the link I reaslised this was just creationist propaganda. I will happily read any book/article that comprehensively disproves the theory of evolution, as long as creationism isn't offered up as the alternative.

Has anyone considered that death may be too good for some of these criminals? I would prefer to see a violent criminal spend his/her whole life in gaol and then die, rather than being killed with no suffering.

"thou shall not kill" Exodus 20:13; Deuteronomy 5:17

Why is drug trafficcing punishable by death in Florida? Surely the penalty doesn't fit the crime?

Calcium carbibe is also extremely reactive, addding water to CaC2 will give ethyne (this is how the first street lights worked) where as adding water to CaCl2 will just cause it to dissolve.

Let me ask of those who are pro-capital punishment, are you also pro-choice when it comes to abortions? I suspect the answer in nearly all cases will be no.
-
So you wouldn't mind if you were the one wrongly convicted? A person who spends life in gaol is not going to contribute to the gene pool anyway!

I payed $1.09/L this morning when I filled up. That equates to $US3.83/Gal at the current exchange rate, more than twice what you pay!!

Same in Australia, we are net exporters of oil and gas and we still pay ridiculous prices at the pump!

You may not care, but not all people are self absorbed gits, incapable of empathy for their fellow man. -
Maybe we can shoot the locusts with some assault weapons, that oughta' put up the price a bit!

Iron can have oxidation states 0, 2+, 3+, 4+, 5+, and 6+.
-
Portable breathalysers use uv-visable spectroscopy. Dichromate is used to oxidise the alcohol to acetic acid and the change in the colour of the dichromate can be quantitatively measured via the UV-vis spectrophotometer.

So for clarification, the ban was a waste of time?

What I am saying is that research that shows more people commit suicide under right wing governments is not humourous, considering the prominence of right wing governments at the moment. I am not suggesting that through history right wing governments have been responsible for more deaths. -

I obviously don't see the humour in more people dying under right wing governments! -

I really hope you don't live in Australia!! It is never going to happen because people like you, and other right-wing nut cases do a great job of making everyone else in the world hate you. A very large proportion of the world sees people who condone right wing politics as selfish, uncompassionate, and quite often racist (I am one of those). At any rate, I would say that between people dying from gunshot wounds and conservative voters dying in Iraq, the conservative will all die out. Hilarious. -
I found this article in the New Scientist from 2002. What do people think about it? http://www.newscientist.com/news/news.jsp?id=ns99992817 It confirms a belief that that I have held about the right side of politics for quite a while

I can answer that. The common oxidation states for Mn are 0, +2, +3, +4, +6, and +7. Starting from the bottom, Mn(0) is obviously metallic manganese. Mn2+ is most stable as the isolated Mn2+(aq) ion and therefore doesn't bond with oxygen to form manganates. Mn3+ is fairly unstable and usually reverts back to Mn2+. Mn4+ is extremely stable with oxygen, but doesn't form ions, it forms the solid MnO2 (pyrolusite is its mineral name). The manganate ion MnO4 2- (which is Mn6+) does exist but only forms in a very narrow eH range and is therefore not very common. And then Mn7+ is as you know the permanganate ion.

This may be so, but do you seriously believe that if you take away all environmental control from the government that businesses would engage in environmentally friendly practices. I think every educated person knows that the environment would suffer at the hands of the big corporations (AND HAVE IN THE PAST!) because they cannot make a buck from their environmental responsibilities. You assert that the DNR (which I presume stands for the Department of Natural Resources, or similar) did a bad job cleaning up PCB's from a river: How did this contamination get into the river in the first place? Did the government dump it there? Or was it pollution from businesses dumping waste either into the water or into the air!? Who is paying for this clean up? I'll bet it is the government! If a private contractor was paid to do the clean up who would pay them, the local businesses? I think not. The government would pay. You did imply this ".....more land is covered by trees than at any point in the post Wisconsin Glacial period" It appears you are saying that even despite the forestry industry the number of trees in Wisconsin has increased. Or have I misunderstood? Once again you are implying that the forestry industry has caused an increase in the number of trees! You do a very good job of promoting the right-wing nut job stereotype! Lets just hope you are always able to work! What if you were disabled by a, lets say, hunting accident. With no welfare you would starve and die. Who is going to look after you? The big corporations? Gladly, but the same should apply to you. If you continue to spout right wing rubbish then I will oppose it.
-
Give us all a break!! You must be living in lala land! To say that big corporations care about the environment is just wishful thinking. Spending money on the environment lowers their profits, so unless they get some type of consumer loyalty due to their spending, it aint gunna happen. What you will find is that most environmental protection measures are designed and enforced by the GOVERNMENT and if the companies had a choice they wouldn't follow them. Isn't recycling the water just cheaper? ie more profits
