  1. Whut? No it bloody cant, what water are you talking about? the kind that has a time cycle I suppose. Water, like any other substance, will change state depending on the temperature.
  2. Moderators do need explanation, they need only to moderate, for it is in this very moderation an explanation can be found.
  3. Every time you post something I decipher the english, then am faced with another task of deciphering what you actually mean. Are you claiming that this single example proves the fact (not theory) of transition metal complxes wrong? Its one of a massive range of effects to do with visible EMR. The effect is still 'faithful', can be easily proven via calculations in a laboratory. There is no paradox.why would there be?
  4. Its an interesting question but I never claimed it had anything to do with transition metal complexes. It would alter the structure in some way i think - most paper is extremely porous thus will retain a lot of water .
  5. Id hardly call going from white to a slightly darker shade a colour change seeing as the paper also goes slightly transparent - whats your point? Is this a pathetic attempt to prove 20th century chemistry wrong? I never claimed that paper going slightly grey has anything to do with transition metal complexes - and anyway thats introductory level quantum chemistry, do you not believe it or something? Id think most other moderators on this site could cite a far more complex instance of some sort of quantum behaviour than I have.
  6. The machine will be never be 100% efficient thus energy will be lost somehow to the surroundings. the energy required to keep the thing spinning will be more than has been gained from it due to this inefficency. Second of course he hasnt been to space, what kind of comment is that. It doesnt mean his argument is flawed in any way.
  7. I dont know, what does that have to do with anything you quoted me on? Does a constituent of the paper go into solution?
  8. Thats utterly ridiculous and spectacularly random. Not only does the poem have NOTHING to do with the time cycle theory you are talking about, but it is to do with emotion which is a far cry from physics which is devoid of such human concepts. You cant translate poetry into physics any more than you can try and paint a fresco with rocks and a hangover.
  9. Why are you quoting Burns at me? Am I supposed to recite Dostoyevsky or Tolstoy in return?
  10. The idea of a Time Cycle adds nothing to physics as current laws and observations adequately explain every event you've drawn reference to. Plus Rad E is perfectly correct when he says that its not the case at all that 'higher energy means a longer existence' which is grandoise, sweaping non-explained statement in the first place.
  11. About as possible as most star trek fans chances of shagging the **** out of 7 of 9. mmmmmmm tight lycra.......
  12. So if lots of people take the same one then its a reasonable (not definitive because no test is) assessment of intellect and appreciation of different concepts which the iq test is made up of - word association, simple mechanics, mental arithmatic etc. My only grudge is that often the majority seem to get above 100, which is preposterous because the whole point is that 100 is the average IQ, thus there should be no imbalance above or below this figure.
  13. As fake as the english? Im a proud unionist and I enjoy having the English around, especially when they pay for the Scot's NHS :D :D :D :D
  14. Your forgetting that the concept of a metal skinned being is ridiculous to start with and thats no garuntee about his planet being cool.
  15. Vlamir, please explain your ludicrous and ridiculous claim that electrons do not exist. Bear in mind to do so you must give repeated experimental data, prove every 20th century scientist wrong, re-write modern chemistry and not rely on pictures of polyhedrons and poorly worded statements of rings. This thread is approaching the pseudoscience forum with ever increasing speed.
  16. Dont you word-murder children now, puny bipedal human! Ill cube your evil indoctrinated mind! CCCCUUUUUBBBBBBBEEEEEEE
  17. Metals are not in the slightest way suited to life as we know it in the form you make out. metal skin would react with bodily fluids and moisture, be heavy, potentially cook the person on a hot day, attract occasional lightning storms and be useless overall. the silver surfer is not a lesson in biology, its an excuse to sell comics.
  18. This is without doubt the most flagrant abuse of science I have ever seen. He frequently talks of 'humans' and acts surprised Universities dont want to talk to him. :bs: :bs: :bs: :bs: :bs: :bs: :bs: :bs:
  19. Yes I can. the upper f block metals are exceedingly rare. elements this heavy and above simply do not exist in nature - they undergo decay immediately and cannot be (or are almost never) produced in stars in the first place. Why would the atmosphere make any difference? Hydrogen and helium make up the vast majority of the known universe. Other common elements are oxygen, silicon, iron, nickel etc but in far less quantities than H and He. Actinides are close to non existant, lanthanides slightly more common but still negligible. And the chemistry of metals DOERS NOT CHANGE from planet to planet. Gravity will not make a difference, whether in massive abundance or not present. I dont know what Zarkovian principle you're basing this on but its a non starter. If i were an omnipitent being gazing at the periodic table I would pick carbon as a life starter first because its common in the universe, has a massive array of chemical permutations and has negligible unstable isotopes.
  20. Ive had a deep fried Mars bar before, and a deep fried creme egg. Both tasty tasty but only ate either the one time - it felt like the cholesterol demon was banging on my head. Ive seen people order deep fried pizzas - its like a lesson in how to kil yourself via your stomach.
  21. Every few years a new element is discovered in the lofty heights of the upper f block. These however are all super dense highly unstable only-exist-for-less-than-a-second metals which rarely have a practical use other than research. in any case very few of these metals are going to naturally exist anywhere at all due the unlikelihood (spelling???) of said metals being created via fusion in stars. to metallic based life i say a resounding no - metals form directionless bonds and MrL JaKiri rightly said metallic reactions are inherently limited compared to those of carbon.
  22. So whats the size of the scottish contingent on this site? Daisy and Miseria, myself, anyone else?
  23. Name is Greg. didnt expect that did you? 1917 > Spent a lot of time looking into emergence of socialism and communism for history a year or two ago. As such remain interested in the Soviet Union, particularly the Eastern Front of WW2.
  24. it could be a larvae of several things. pizza specials from the chip shop beside my school, packs of ciggarettes, beer, beer, vodka, beer - they all seem to appear whenever 10 quid notes disappear. just reading over your post, receiving enlightenment from his jewish ancestry is maybe the most ridiculous single claim ever posted on science forums, sarcastic or not. even adams pole shift claims werent as obscure (just).
  25. Why shouldnt the scots take over the world? Were already responsible for most of the worlds problems according to englands assorted press so this will give us a chance to correct the problems we made. 1) Belgium will be buried. 2) France and geramny will be merged into one great big ball of red tape under EU directive 769, section C, sub section 6, paragraph 32 line 2. 3) attractive women will be refused clothing. there will be no right of appeal. 4) anyone found with narcotics will face a jail sentence unless he has enough for everyone present. 5) glasgow's ned population will be deported to israel where they will lead the peace effort with offerings of buckfast and cheap weed.
